EXCLUSIVE: ‘Fantasia’, ‘Pinocchio’, and ‘Alice In Wonderland’ Animated Projects In The Works For Disney+
By Christopher Marc -October 25, 20190

HN Entertainment has learned that Disney is possibly looking to create a wave of animated projects for its streaming service Disney+, which is set to launch on November 12th.

Disney isn’t only taking old animated classics and turning them into live-action films, but they are developing new animated projects for Disney+ as well we’ve learned.

A handful of the projects said to be currently in development which includes one that will focus on Pinocchio’s Jimny Cricket (the conscience of young Pinocchio), Alice and Wonderland’s eccentric Cheshire Cat, and a project connected to musical classic Fantasia (may or may not feature Mickey Mouse).

There might be one focusing on the Seven Dwarfs (Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy, Bashful, Sneezy, Dopey, Doc) from Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs as well.

It’ll be interesting to see if these are series, shorts, specials, or feature-length animated films.

Disney once made a string of Jimny Cricket serials.

This could be an excellent way to get kids/families primed for stuff like the live-action Pinocchio and Snow White movies that are about to go into production soon.

Considering, that the live-action Dumbo film didn’t exactly get children or parents out to the theater as other films have recently. I have to assume because the age of the film and kids might knowing it as well as stuff like The Lion King, Beauty and The Beast, Aladdin, and even The Little Mermaid (also about to begin production).

Some of the other projects coming to Disney+ already announced include a wave of shows set in the Star Wars Universe and Marvel Cinematic Universe with The Mandalorian (two seasons), Cassian Andor, Kenobi, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, Loki, WandaVision, Hawkeye, What-If, She-Hulk, Ms. Marvel, and Moon Knight.

The animation side on the streaming service will also have a bulk of the Disney animated feature films/shows kids have grown up on along with 30 seasons of Fox’s The Simpsons as well.

We’ll certainly update when we get more information on these projects.
