La Disney ha messo in sviluppo un nuovo progetto live-action basato su un suo classico d’animazione: l’Hollywood Reporter rivela infatti che Walt Disney Studios è al lavoro su un prequel di Aladdin, intitolato al momento Genie e incentrato sulle origini del celebre personaggio doppiato da Robin Williams (nella versione originale) e Gigi Proietti (in quella italiana) nel film d’animazione del 1992.

La storia dovrebbe essere ambientata nel “reame dei Genii” e spiegherà come il protagonista rimane intrappolato nella celebre lampada. La speranza, ovviamente, è quella di lanciare un franchise e spianare la strada per un film live-action sulla fiaba di Aladino.

A scrivere la pellicola Damian Shannon e Mark Swift (Venerdì 13), mentre alla produzione vi sarà Tripp Vinson con la sua Vinson Films, già al lavoro sul film sul Principe Azzurro annunciato di recente.

Al momento la Disney sta sviluppando diversi film live-action basati sui propri classici di animazione: Il Libro della Giungla (diretto da Jon Favreau, arriverà il 15 aprile 2016), La Bella e la Bestia (17 marzo 2017), il sequel Alice Attraverso lo Specchio (27 marzo 2016), Dumbo (diretto da Tim Burton), i film di Winnie the Pooh, Mulan, Pinocchio, Campanellino (con Reese Witherspoon) e il sequel di Maleficent.

Dopo aver visto il musical a Disneyland, in cui la parte del Genio la faceva da padrone, non mi sorprenderebbe se facessero un film totalmente comico.
Certo, se avessero voluto fare direttamente un film su Aladdin forse avrebbe avuto più senso, ma magari il Genio è anche più conosciuto per alcuni..chissà.

Ormai l'elenco è talmente lungo che ci si perde...non c'era anche Robin Hood?
E il film su Chernabog... e il remake di Elliott, che però è un live action...vabbè sicuramente me ne sto dimenticando altri

A noi piace come idea... Le Mille e una notte hanno talmente tante storie che chissà magari possono usarne qualcuna come ispirazione... vedremo finalmente una Sheherazade made in Disney? speriamo! teniamo le dita incrociate! ci piacerebbe che il Genio avesse a che fare con la storia di Sheherazade e magari mettere qualche antenato di Aladdin, Jasmine, il Sultano ecc. dato che sembra che a differenza di Maleficient questo film non andrà a rivisitare la storia di Aladdin ma si fermerà al momento in cui il Genio è intrappolato nella lampada...
come idea è interessante e promettente e poi è ora che riscoprano un po' l'universo delle Mille e una notte, che ormai da più di un decennio (dal 2001 più o meno) è abbandonato a sé (tranne che per la serie Once Upon a Time in Wonderland in cui l'universo delle Mille e una notte è stato finora il più riuscito della serie)

Certo speriamo comunque che realizzino un live action di Aladdin... ci piacerebbe vedere Aladdin, Jasmine, e compagnia con attori in carne ed ossa. e poi Aladdin è l'unica fiaba fatta finora dalla Disney con un protagonista maschile e sarebbe senza senso non farne una versione live action dato che di principi veri protagonisti centrali vi è solo Aladdin...

Back when it was announced that Will Smith will be seen in the some of the iconic role of Genie in Aladdin, fans were not sure whether he was would have been able to do justice to the beloved character. This was because the previous iteration of the Genie was played by legendary actor Robin Williams who had set the bar very high with his performance.

But when the film finally released in 2019, and Will was loved by fans for his role as Genie. The audience, as well as the critics, appreciated him for his role. In fact, the response was so good that now it is reported that Disney is planning on creating a spin-off series based on Will’s Genie. Here is all we know so far.

Will Smith's Genie to get a spin-off miniseries

An entertainment portal revealed that a close source has confirmed the news of how Disney is developing a Genie miniseries. It was also reported that the series will see the Men in Black actor reprising his role. It is reported that the series will focus on the things that happened between Aladdin 1 and 2. Apart from this, a sequel to 2019's Aladdin is also in the works. This news has come out in February.

It was reported by an entertainment portal that Aladdin 2 is in its early development stages and the producers have found a direction in which they want to move the franchise. The producers have reportedly expressed that it took more than 6 months to figure it out. It was also reported that writers John Gatins and Andrea Berloff will be working on the follow-up film if the 2019 Disney film Aladdin.

It was also reported that the producers of the original 1992 film, Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich, will be producing the Aladdin sequel under the banner of Rideback, and it was also reported that Ryan Halprin will be the executive producer of the project. It was also reported that Guy Ritchie has not been called on board the project yet. The original cast of 2019 Aladdin is expected to return, but Disney is not booking the stars until the script is ready. If the cast returns, we will be seeing Will Smith as the Genie, Mena Massoud as Aladdin, and Naomi Scott as Princess Jasmine.

It was also reported that the Aladdin sequel will be a theatrical release and not a Disney+ title. It was also reported that the film will not take inspiration from the animated sequels of Aladdin. The sequel will be an original concept story. 2019's Aladdin was a super hit and is listed among the live-action adaptations to cross the billion-dollar global box office milestone.
