Leggete pi sotto.

‘Kingdom Keepers’ Series Reportedly in The Works For Disney+

Disney is reportedly in early development on a Kingdom Keeper series, which would be exclusive for the company’s streamer, Disney+. The news comes from director/actor Kevin Smith (Jay and Silent Bob). During his most recent episode of his popular geek-podcast, Fatman Beyond.

I saw that wall in real life, when we were working on the Disney, uh… when we were working on the potential Disney+ show Kingdom Keepers. They brought me in for, like, a tech day, and they were like, ‘this wall here can duplicate any background’

Back in 2018, Kevin Smith said he was working on a television series based on a “massive IP,” and in 2019, reports surfaced that Kevin Smith was working on an unknown Disney project. So could Kingdom Keepers actually be a project Kevin Smith is involved in? We can’t say yes or no, but we like connecting the imaginary dots.

The Kingdom Keepers is a popular book series for kids, teenagers and adults, written by Ridley Pearson and published by Disney Hyperion.

For those who are not familiar with the books, in the Kingdom Keepers series, five teens have been chosen to act as models for holographic guides at Walt Disney World. But the cutting-edge technology has a glitch; when the kids fall asleep, they are transported to the Parks in their holographic forms. The ensuing adventures take readers on a rollicking ride as the Kingdom Keepers fight to prevent Disney’s destruction.

The series features seven novels. The first novel Disney After Dark was published in 2005, the second novel Disney at Dawn was published in 2008, the third novel Disney In Shadow was published in 2010, the fourth novel Power Play was published in 2011, the fifth novel Shell Game was published in 2012, the sixth novel Dark Passage was published in 2013 and the last novel The Insider was published in 2014.

RECENSIONE UTENTE AMAZON (TeensReedToo) SUL PRIMO LIBRO DELLA SERIE DI SETTE LIBRI, OVVERO "DISNEY AFTER DARK":

Five young teens living in Florida get the opportunity of a lifetime--they're each going to be turned into a DHI, or a Disney Host Interactive, to guide visitors throughout the park. The five teens--Finn, Charlene, Willa, Philby, and Maybeck--are a varied assortment of ethnicities, and all attend different schools. As Maybeck states, they're "the Orlando assortment pack." When Philby points out that DHI also stands for Daylight Hologram Imaging, the kids get a little worried that maybe the people at Disney aren't telling them everything there is to know. And that turns out to be quite an understatement.

One night when Finn falls asleep, he finds himself in the park after closing-- in his DHI, or hologram, body. He meets an old man named Wayne, one of the original Disney Imagineers, who informs Finn that he and his other four DHI friends have been chosen for a mission. A mission to save the park from the Overtakers, a group of once-benign Park characters who have taken on power and are intent on spreading their power outside of the borders of Disney World.

What at first seems like a fantastical dream soon turns to reality, when the attractions at the Park begin coming to life when the DHIs cross over into the Magic Kingdom while sleeping. They're attacked by animatronic pirates from The Pirates of the Caribbean, the dolls from It's a Small World try to capsize their boat, a dinosaur fossil from the Thunder Mountain ride comes to life and starts chasing them. And then there's Maleficent, the witch from Sleeping Beauty, who appears to be all too real--and determined to stop the kids from solving The Stonecutter's Quill, the fable that Walt Disney passed along to save the Park from the Overtakers.

THE KINGDOM KEEPERS is definitely an imaginative read, full of action, adventure, and suspense. For anyone who has ever visited the Magic Kingdom, you'll recognize the settings immediately. Even if you're not a frequent visitor of Disney World, this is one book that will bring the magic--both good and bad--to very realistic life.

Kevin Smith Says New Exec Killed Kingdom Keepers Disney+ Series

Kingdom Keepers scrapped from Disney Plus
On Saturday, April 4, 2020, we reportedalbeit with much personal excitement-that there was potentially an adaptation of the beloved Disney book series Kingdom Keepers in the works for Disney+. Unfortunately, that is not the case.

A Kingdom Keepers series was proposed and in the works, though. In fact, Kevin Smith and others had worked on the series for two years. But it was ultimately passed over for, almost being too much Disney even for even Disney+.

The filmmaker made it clear on Sunday, April 5, 2020, after accidentally alerting all Disney fans to this pseudo-secret project.

He tweeted:

That was a blast to write 2 years ago. It was planned as one of the first shows to launch on what would become @disneyplus. Then a new exec was put in charge of the app and he killed KK. Said we used too much @Disney IP in one project (every character in the park comes to life).

For the die-hard Kingdom Keepers fanor any Disney fan that would love to see all the characters come to life in the parksit is hard to say which would be worse. The fact that there is no such series in the works or that such a series was considered and passed over. At any rate, it is not the first series to get passed over and it wont be the last.

But out of the ashes of Kingdom Keepers grew the series that would help catapult Disneys straight-to-consumer streaming service to unprecedented success: The Mandalorian.

Smith follows his initial response by giving credit where credit was do tweeting:

The @disneyplus exec may have scrapped Kingdom Keepers, but hes also the guy who said Lets do @starwars & @MarvelStudios shows! So as much as I wouldnt like to make my show, Im much happier watching #TheMandalorian and cant wait for #WandaVision. #FanFistFilmmakerSecond.

And Disney+ delivered on The Mandalorian. Jon Favreaus epic space western staring Pedro Pascal (and Baby Yoda) was an overnight sensation and fans are now counting down the days to October and the release of season 2. Marvel shows such as WandaVision are also being pined for with high hopes and anticipation.

There is still no word from the book series author and creator, Ridley Pearson. You can still read his work and all of the magical adventures of Finn Whitman and his pals.
