We have learned that Sharon Maguire is in final talks to direct ‘Godmothered’ for Disney+.

Plot details are unknown but given the title, audiences can likely expect a Fairy Godmother to take centre stage in the plot. The film is expected to begin filming in early 2020.

Sharon Maguire is known for directing ‘Bridget Jones’ Diary’ and ‘Bridget Jones’ Baby’, The ‘Bridget Jones’ films follow a British woman who is determined to improve herself while she looks for love in a year in which she keeps a personal diary. She will also direct ‘Voicemails for Isabelle’ that focuses on a young woman, played by Hailee Steinfeld, trying to navigate her dating life in Los Angeles.

Disney+ will launch on November 12th in the United States and various other locations. Exclusive content that will launch with the service includes ‘High School Musical – The Musical – The Series’, the live-action ‘Lady and the Tramp’ remake, ‘Noelle’, ‘The World According To Jeff Goldblum’ and the first live-action ‘Star Wars’ series executive produced by Jon Favreau titled ‘The Mandalorian’.

‘Bridget Jones’ Director Sharon Maguire Reportedly In Talks To Direct Fairy Godmother Film For Disney+

Disney is continuing to have success with their live-action adaptations of their animated films and with Disney+ launching soon, it gives the studio the opportunity to make some live-action films exclusive to the streaming service.

Now, thanks to a new report from Discussing Film, it looks like Disney+ is getting ready to adapt a live-action film centered around the Fairy Godmother from Cinderella. Sharon Maguire (Bridget Jones franchise) is in talks to helm the project. Plot details are being kept under wraps and it isn’t known if this film will center on the Helen Bonham Carter Fairy Godmother from Disney’s 2015 live-action Cinderella, or if it’s a new character altogether.

Filming on the project tentatively titled Godmothered is expected to begin sometime early next year.

Disney+ will be made available to audiences in the U.S. on November 12, 2019, and will cost $6.99 per month (or $69.99 per year). Canada and the Netherlands will also have access to the service on the 12th. In Canada, the service will cost $8.99 (Canadian) per month (or $89.99 per year), and in the Netherlands, the price will be €6.99 per month (or €69.99 per year). One week later on November 19, 2019, Australia and New Zealand will have access to the service priced at $8.99 (Australian) per month (or $89.99 per year) and $9.99 (New Zealand) per month (or $99.99 per year).

The bundle will include Disney+; Hulu’s basic on-demand plan (not including Hulu’s live TV add-on); and the sports streaming service, called ESPN+. Disney announced this week that the price of the bundle will be $12.99 a month.

Just announced: New “Godmothered” movie coming to Disney+

Ever since the 1950 Disney Animated Classic “Cinderella,” most of us have always dreamed of having our very own Fairy Godmother.

Symbolizing hope and faith, the Fairy Godmother is devoted to making wishes come true and dreams a reality for those who need it most. And of course, everyone knows she does this with the magic words, bibbidi bobbidi boo.

But now, we may see a Fairy Godmother return to screens everywhere as we just learned she will be the star in a brand new Disney film “Godmothered.”

“Godmothered” will be exclusive to Disney’s new streaming service, Disney+, and we found out the one and only Sharon Maguire is in final talks of directing.

Although we don’t know much about the new film quite yet, what we do know is fans and audiences can expect a Fairy Godmother to take on the role as the main character in the plot. “Godmothered” is expected to begin filming in early 2020.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with Sharon Maguire, she is know for directing “Bridget Jones’ Diary” and “Bridget Jones’ Baby.” Maguire will also direct “Voicemails for Isabelle,” which is a film that focuses on a young woman, who will be played by Hailee Steinfeld, trying to figure out her dating life in the busy city of Los Angeles.

Disney has had a lot of success with live-action remakes of their classic animated films such as Jon Favreau’s “The Jungle Book” and “The Lion King.” We can also expect to see a live-action version of “Lady and the Tramp“, which will be exclusive to Disney+.

Other exclusive Disney+ content includes a brand new “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series,” a remake of the classic Disney Channel series “Lizzie McGuire,” starring the one and only Hilary Duff, and several new Marvel series such as “Loki” and “Marvel’s What If?”

Disney+ will launch in the United States on November 12. We’re not sure when “Godmothered” will premiere, but we’ll keep you posted.

We have exclusively learned that production is slated to begin on January 15, 2020 in Boston Massachusetts and is expected to wrap up sometime in March 2020.

We have also learned the plot and have some character breakdowns to share with you, as the studio is currently casting.

A young fairy godmother who comes from a magical-gothic parallel universe and attempts to help a single mother who thinks she will never get a fairytale ending.

Godmother: She wants to help Alice and her two daughters fulfill their dreams, becomes the daughters (Jane and Mia) babysitter.

Alice: Single mother with two daughters, she seeks the help of a fairy godmother to help with her kids and find new love.

Jane: Oldest daughter who hopes to become a famous singer.

Mia: Youngest daughter.

Mr. Clancy: An older man who is known as a singer.

It is unlikely that this film will center on the Helen Bonham Carter Fairy Godmother from Disney’s 2015 live-action Cinderella, as the studio is looking to cast an actress in their 20s-30s, however it is still unknown if this exists in the same universe as the 2015 film.

Directed by Sharon Maguire (Bridget Jones franchise), Justin Springer (Dumbo, TRON: Legacy) will produce the project. Writers Kari Granlund (Lady and The Tramp) and Melissa Stack (The Other Woman) are also on board the project.

Frills is the latest Disney+ original film in development and will join a growing slate of original films exclusive to the service that include Noelle, Togo, Timmy Failure, Stargirl, Secret Society of Second Born Royals, Safety, Flora & Ulysses, Home Alone, Hocus Pocus 2, Shrunk, Peter Pan, Sword In The Stone, Cheaper By The Dozen, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Night At The Museum, Sister Act 3, Prince Anders, amongst many others.

Racconterà la sua giovinezza, magari sarà più simile a quella del live action... però sarebbe scoprire dove era smemorina (io la chiamo cosi perché sono affezionato al classico disney, ma in realtà so che non ha nome e viene chiamata Fairy godmother) quando Cenerentola era in balia della matrigna, oppure dove va a finire dopo che ha compiuto il suo incantesimo...

Ipotesi: Il film racconterà la giovinezza della fata madrina, in particolare di come è diventata una fata, e magari si scopre che le fate sono come delle assistenti sociali e ad ognuna viene assegnato un protetto, e ovviamente quello di fairy godmother è un titolo da ottenere, magari la si vedrà mentre studia alla scuola di magia...

Jillian Bell, Isla Fisher to Star in Disney+ Comedy 'Godmothered' (Exclusive)

Sharon McGuire, best known for directing the Bridget Jones movies, is helming the feature project that is being developed by Disney’s live-action team run by motion picture production president Sean Bailey.

The story tells of a young and unskilled fairy godmother (Bell) that ventures out on her own to prove her worth by tracking down a young girl whose request for help was ignored. What she discovers is that the girl has now become a grown woman (Fisher) in need of something very different than a "Prince Charming."

Kari Granlund and Melissa Stack wrote the script.

Production is due to begin later this month in Boston. Jessica Virtue and Allison Erlikman are overseeing for Disney.

Bell toplined the well-regarded comedy Brittany Runs a Marathon, which she also executive produced. Prior to that, the actress did scene-stealing work in a slew of comedies ranging from 22 Jump Street and Rough Night to Fist Fight and Goosebumps. She also worked with Paul Thomas Anderson in Inherent Vice and The Master.

Fisher is coming off shooting a leading role in Blithe Spirit opposite Dan Stevens and Judi Dench, and last year appeared opposite Matthew McConaughey in Harmony Korine’s The Beach Bum. She also appears with Steve Coogan in the upcoming satire Greed, which will be released by Sony Pictures Classics.

Fisher is repped by UTA and Sloane Offer; Bell is repped by UTA, 3 Arts and Stone Genow.

Disney+ Film ‘Godmothered’ Begins Productions and Rounds Out Cast

Production has commenced in Boston on Disney’s new magical film Godmothered, starring Isla Fisher (Wedding Crashers) and Jillian Bell (Rough Night). The film is an original live-action project for the studios’ streamer, Disney+.

Set at Christmas time, Godmothered is a comedy about Eleanor, a young, inexperienced fairy godmother-in-training (Bell) who upon hearing that her chosen profession is facing extinction, decides to show the world that people still need fairy godmothers. Finding a mislaid letter from a 12-year-old girl in distress, Eleanor tracks her down and discovers that the girl, Mackenzie, is now a 40-year-old single mom (Fisher) working at a news station in Boston. Having lost her husband several years earlier, Mackenzie has all but given up on the idea of “Happily Ever After,” but Eleanor is bound and determined to give Mackenzie a happiness makeover, whether she likes it or not.

Joining Bell and Fisher in supporting roles are Emmy winner Jane Curtin (Saturday Night Live) as headmistress of The Motherland, Jillian Shea Spaeder (Walk The Prank) and Willa Skye (Lazy Susan) as Mackenzie’s young daughters, Mary Elizabeth Ellis (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) as her sister, and Santiago Cabrera (Star Trek: Picard), Artemis Pebdani (Scandal), Utkarsh Ambudkar (Mulan) and Stephnie Weir (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend) as colleagues at the TV news station where Mackenzie works. Questo film ha tutta l'aria di essere il prossimo "Come d'Incanto". Anche la protagonista è stata scelta per richiamare alla memoria la troppo quotata Amy Adams, di cui sembra la sorella gemella (lo stesso Tom Ford ci aveva giocato offrendo a entrambe una parte nel suo "Animali Notturni" e giocando sulla loro ambigua e vivida somiglianza). Molto brava e ingiustamente non valorizzata Isla Fisher, speriamo le torni un po' di visibilità e popolarità.

Ps. Il film è stato ufficialmente chiamato col titolo iniziale, "Godmothered".

carina ma sembra la trama di un "enchanted 2", sarebbe bello se trovasse la lettera smarrita di una dodicenne che invece è cenerentola e vive schiavizzata da matrigna e sorellastre e magari le vede di nascosto tutte le angherie che subisce fino allo strappo del vestito (ma alla fine sarebbe una cenerentola dal punto di visto della fata madrina).

vediamo cosa ne verrà fuori

Klauz ma la fata madrina è un personaggio che non è legato solo a Cenerentola.

in tutte le favole c'è sempre una fata madrina, ogni personaggio ne ha assegnata una, pure in Jack e il fagiolo magico, in teoria anche in Pinocchio ma li viene chiamata "Fata turchina"... essere una fata madrina è come una professione prendersi cura di una persona sfortunata o che ha spesso bisogno di aiuto.
La bella addormentata originale ne ha ben dodici (tredici contando quella che la maledice) di fate madrine (nell'adattamento disney tre) forse perché i reali hanno diritto a più fate madrine? In molte favole quando nasce una principessa vengono sempre invitate tutte le fate del regno (la fata della fontana, la perla del dolore etc...) e guarda caso viene spesso dimenticato un invito.
Ad esempio c'è un film degli anni 90' "Un semplice desiderio" con Mara Wilson e Kathleen Turner dove si parla della tematica delle fate madrine come un lavoro....

Interessante la tua digressione Klauz, speriamo che il film ne costruisca una bella mitologia, magari facendo comparire le più importanti fate madrine delle fiabe.

Sarebbe proprio divertente messa così, spero ne esca un prodotto basato su questo presupposto!

Comunque al momento il film è stoppato come tutti a causa del Coronavirus. Riprenderà appena possibile

tipo fare la fata madrina è una professione e allo stesso tempo una vocazione per chi sceglie di aiutare il prossimo e magari alcune fate madrine sono un po distratte perché hanno tanti incarichi da seguire e a volte devono stare attente a non farsi tentare dalla magia.

Interessanti un paio di frasi tratte da quest'articolo di The Hollywood Reporter sulla trasposizione cinematografica live action di Robin Hood. Innanzitutto si dice che Godmothered ha terminato le riprese ed è in fase di post produzione. Spero sia così, perché sono quasi certo di aver letto tempo fa che le riprese fossero state sospese, come per la maggior parte dei film attualmente in lavorazione.

Altra info interessante è il fatto che si citi il nome del regista Estrada al timone di un film d'animazione cinematografico Disney. Di che si tratterà?

Veu ho scoperto che Frills era soltanto il nome con cui la pellicola era in lavorazione, il titolo pare proprio sia confermato quale "Godmothered", quindi potete rinominare il topic togliendo Frills, che è solo fuorviante grazie.

EDIT: anche Yahoo Ent. riporta la fase di post-produzione per il film.
