First we had DC's Metal Men, now it's Marvel's The Human Fly! Deadline report that a movie based on the former Marvel Comic character is in development at Eisenberg-Fisher Productions/Paramount after Alan Brewer and Steven Goldman picked up the reverted rights on the property recently. Apparently Goldman will direct while Brewer, along with James Reach, will produce. Tony Babinski, Cirque Du Soleil’s in-house historian, wrote the Montreal-based screenplay.
There are actually two characters calling themselves The Human Fly in the Marvel Universe, one is a Spider-Man villain, and then there's this fella. If you haven't head of him, Wikipedia provides..
The second Human Fly was a young man of unknown identity who was severely injured during a car crash. After a long hospitalization, including a number of reconstructive surgeries in which much of his skeleton was replaced by steel, he took on the masked identity of the Human Fly. As the Human Fly, he performed daredevil stunts to benefit various charities, especially those helping children with disabilities. His activities often drew him into conflict with criminals, who were often seeking to rob the charity events at which he performed. Additionally, he drew the attention of Spider-Man, who thought he might be the villain of the same name. The character was based on real-life stuntman Rick Rojatt. The comic book carried the tag line "The Wildest Super-Hero Ever — Because He's Real!", and photographs of someone in a Human Fly costume appeared in the books. Jim Shooter, a high-ranking member of Marvel's editorial staff at the time of publication, said in 2007 that the photos were indeed of Rojatt.

La notizia arriva da Deadline che riporta la volontà della Eisenberg-Fisher Productions di produrre l'adattamento di The Human Fly per la Paramount Pictures.
A figurare come produttori ci saranno anche Alan Brewer e James Reach. Steven Goldman si occuperà della regia mentre Tony Babinski della sceneggiatura.
La Mosca Umana è uno stuntman che dopo esser stato vittima di un terribile incidente è costretto a subire una serie di interventi di chirurgia che prevedono la sostituzione di parte del suo scheletro con l'acciaio. Dopo l'intervento, lo stuntman comincia a sfruttare le sue abilità acrobatiche a favore di aste e beneficenza ma è proprio in queste occasioni che si trova a dover fronteggiare alcuni criminali.
Il fumetto, ispirato alla vera storia dello stuntman Rick Rojatt, fu pubblicato dalla Marvel dal 1977 a 1979 per un totale di 19 uscite. Al momento non sono ancora noti dettagli sul casting e la data di uscita. Vi terremo aggiornati...

Non credo... anche Deadline e Collider riportano la cosa. Pare ne abbiano acquistati i diritti e lo stiano sviluppando per la Paramount.

HUMAN FLY Superhero Movie in the Works; Steven Goldmann to Direct

While everyone’s hoping to find out what the two “mystery” superhero movies in development at Marvel are at Comic-Con in a couple of weeks, confirmation of another Marvel superhero movie has just come to light…sort of. Deadline reports that Alan Brewer and Steven Goldmann have acquired the rights to comics character The Human Fly and are in the process of developing a feature film based on the character. There were actually two different characters that carried the Human Fly name in Marvel comics. One was a villain who was imprinted with a fly’s genetic coding after being left for dead by Spider-Man (that pesky Peter Parker), while the other was a young man whose skeleton was replaced by steel following a car accident. Deadline’s report doesn’t specify which incarnation of the Human Fly this deal entails, but Goldmann will be directing the feature film. The “superhero” version of Human Fly became a daredevil with his steel-enhanced skeleton, and he performed stunts to benefit charities. You know, for the kids. I assume this is the character they’ll be tackling, but again the report doesn’t specify either way. Goldmann previously directed the 2008 film Trailer Park of Terror and 2006’s Broken Bridges, but this will be his first foray into superhero territory.
It’s important to note that Human Fly does not fall into Marvel Studios territory, as Goldmann and Brewer picked up the rights to the character on their own and are financing the film through private equity sources. No word on how this affects Marvel’s insect-themed Ant-Man film from Edgar Wright, but my guess is “not at all.”
