Hey guys! Maybe this isn't the right place to do this, but last Wednesday I got to see a pre-screening of the new live-action Cinderella. My overall review is that the movie is visually stunning with amazing costumes, hair, makeup, and scenery. It's a nice re-telling that gives more depth to the characters without straying too much from the original plot (i.e., Maleficent). Since the movie doesn't come out until next year, a lot of the CGI and effects were incomplete, so I don't have a lot of information about that. The biggest differences from the animated movie are that it isn't a musical and the mice don't talk. If there's anything else you want to know, I can give you my opinion

Does it develop the relationship between Cinderella and the Prince? Is he still in love with a woman without being able to recognize her face?

Yes! There is a scene where they meet in the forest before the ball and he falls in love with her then, and later at the ball he recognizes her. It's actually very charming and well done. Still not completely realistic, but hey, it's a fairy tale!

Oh that makes me so happy!!! I like how Disney has been doing "modern" love stories recently, like in Tangled when she got to know Flynn/Eugene before they fell in love. Of course old Disney movies are wonderful but its so nice to see more realistic love rather than "love at first sight."

My favorite parts of Frozen are still every time Anna is called out for getting engaged to a guy she just met, it's so tongue-in-cheek.

For anyone who's interested, it sounds like that forest scene is a throwback to the animated film. The prince originally had a lot more screen time and character development, but it was cut and therefore the prince seems like a very one dimensional love interest. I believe he originally had a scene in the woods where he initially looks like he's hunting animals, but turns out to be meeting up with his a friend, a deer. How cute! I'm really looking forward to seeing the new film!

Does it seem little girl friendly, or more adult oriented?
[–]broadwayliv[S] 5 punti 18 giorni fa
I would say a little of both. There are definitely some more adult themes. I had an 8-yr-old girl with me at the time and I would say that's about the youngest that would really understand and enjoy the movie. It's more mature than the animated film for sure.

How did you manage to get in on that? Sounds awesome. How was Cinderella herself? How was the acting? And did you get to see the whole movie?

I got to see the whole movie, but they will probably make some changes to it by the time it's released. They had the screening near my hometown and mailed invitations to people in the area whole have families with younger kids (6-12) and a woman I know couldn't make it so I took her kids for her. Cinderella is played by Lily James and she is incredibly beautiful and a very good actress! The only issue I have is that they made her blonde for the film but left her eyebrows really dark. The acting was pretty excellent all around, especially Cate Blanchett as the Step Mother. The only mediocre performance was Helena Bonham Carter as the Fairy God Mother, which surprised me. It seemed to me like she had some plastic surgery right before filming because she couldn't move her mouth/face much, which was a bummer

Hey there, just letting you know that after seeing a test screening, you're not really suppose to talk about it publicly. I've been to a lot of screenings and always had sign something saying that I'm not allowed to talk about the movie openly on any form of media. Not sure what went on at your test screening but it's usually the same for all. Just giving you a heads up.

Yeah, I'm not really "supposed to" but I didn't sign anything an there's no possible way for them to trace this account back to me. I wasn't expecting this to get super big or anything either, just thought the awesome folks here at r/Disney might be interested!

How was Richard Madden's (Prince Charming) character different in the live action than from the animation? Also, what was it about Helena Bonham Carter as Fairy Godmother that was so bad?
[–]broadwayliv[S] 3 punti 17 giorni fa
Richard Madden was fantastic as the prince! Very, well, charming and a has a lot more drive and depth than the animated movie. Helena Bonham Carter just wasn't on her game and was limited by what I think was plastic surgery, like I said before. It wasn't entirely her fault, though. I really wasn't a big fan of the characterization that the movie gave to the character.

How are the characters compared to the original? I had read that they wanted to "modernize" Cinderella, and I had visions of them trying to turn her into Drew Barrymore in "Ever After."
So glad to hear the plot is fairly intact - I was prepared to sit through "Maleficent" to see what they did to it until I heard just what they did to it.

The characters are the same for the most part, just more in depth. You learn a lot about the stepmother's motives and backstory, and the prince actually has a personality. The biggest change is the fairy godmother, she would have to be the most " modernized" character and she was also my least favorite.
