Despite sustaining a broken rib while filming a scene for his latest film, Not Fade Away actor Jack Huston says he's adept to playing Peter Quill in Guardians of the Galaxy after auditioning.

While a few actors who made Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy ‘Star-Lard’ shortlist are committing to other big projects, seemingly slimming their chances to none, contender and Boardwalk Empire actor Jack Huston recently told MTV News that he's more than capable; even after sustaining a broken rib while filming Not Fade Away. Check out exactly what he said in the video below!

“There was a screen test. Like I said, brittle bones. Maybe they'll call me Glass Man. 'Here he comes. Oh, he fell over,'” Jack Huston joked. But jokes aside, he said, “I would love to do it. I tell you, these bones are strong. If you need a guardian to look after this galaxy, look no further.”

About Jack Huston's fellow ‘Peter Quill’ contenders, Garrett Hundley recently announced his commitment to Tron 3, while Joel Edgerton is filming Felony and just signed on for Jane Got a Gun. And as reported earlier today, Eddie Redmayne has just joined Wachowskis' Jupiter Ascending. Of course, these other obligations wouldn't exactly rule them out of winning the role. Anyhow, the list also includes Jim Sturgess, Lee Pace, James Marsden and Sullivan Stapleton. What do you think?

Niente Nick Fury in Guardians of the Galaxy?

Non aspettatevi di vedere Nick Fury nel film sui Guardiani della Galassia.

A rivelarlo è lo stesso Samuel L. Jackson in una intervista su Movies.com, nella quale l'attore - iperpresenzialista nei film dei Marvel Studios - sostiene che girerà Captain America: the Winter Soldier e successivamente The Avengers 2:

"No, no, niente Guardiani della Galassia. Girerò Captain America 2, e poi nulla fino a The Avengers 2."

Le riprese del sequel di Captain America inizieranno nella primavera del 2013, mentre quelle del film di James Gunn non dovrebbero iniziare prima della fine del 2013. Non è escluso, comunque, che in un secondo momento i Marvel Studios decidano di inserire anche solo un cammeo del personaggio: è già capitato in passato che alcuni attori non venissero convocati fino all'ultimo.

Guardians of the Galaxy: la shortlist per Peter Quill scende a due nomi

La shortlist per il protagonista di Guardians of the Galaxy si è ridotta apparentemente a due soli nomi: Zachary Levi (Chuck) e Jim Sturgess (Cloud Atlas).

I due attori sarebbero gli ultimi due in lizza per la parte di Star-Lord, ovvero Peter Quill, un alieno-umanoide ibrido maestro nella strategia ed esperto nel combattimento, che indossa una tuta in grado di migliorare le capacità. Secondo quanto riporta Variety, come da tradizione i Marvel Studios valuteranno anche una serie di nomi non noti per la parte dopo le vacanze di Natale, quindi non è detto che il volto di Star-Lord sia uno di questi due.

Curiosamente, Levi ha un ruolo in Thor: the Dark World, ovvero quello di Fandral, che già gli era stato offerto nel primo Thor ma che poi è andato a Josh Dallas. Apparentemente lo studio è rimasto impressionato dal suo provino e vorrebbe espandere la collaborazione.

E' lo stesso regista James Gunn a smentire categoricamente le indiscrezioni sul casting di Guardians of the Galaxy diffuse da Variety negli ultimi giorni, e cioè che la shortlist di attori per la parte di Peter Quill si sarebbe ridotta a Zachary Levy e Jim Sturgess, più un terzo attore poco conosciuto.

Il regista ha Twittato (cancellando successivamente il suo intervento) quanto segue:

Praticamente tutto nell'articolo di Variety sul casting di Guardians of the Galaxy (e gli articoli successivi basati su di esso) era/è sbagliato.

Il fatto che parli di "quasi" significa che forse uno o entrambi gli attori fanno parte di una shortlist più ampia, o che invece l'attore è già stato scelto. Il fatto che Gunn abbia cancellato il Tweet ("Stai diventando uno di loro", qualcuno ha commentato. "Loro chi?" ha risposto Gunn. "Uno di quelli che non vuole che la Disney gli levi il lavoro!").

Guardians of the Galaxy, Spider-Man 2: Eddie Redmayne parla dei suoi provini

In una intervista su Collider Eddie Redmayne ha parlato dei rumour che circondano il casting di Star-Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy, recentemente commentato dallo stesso regista James Gunn, e di Harry Osborn nel sequel di The Amazing Spider-Man (che alla fine è andato a Dane DeHaan):

Innanzitutto è una cosa che mi rende molto onorato, ma non so... qualcun altro mi ha chiesto se sapevo contro chi stavo facendo le audizioni, e io sono una di quelle persone che tiene la testa bassa e fa un passo alla volta, altrimenti vengo influenzato dalla situazione e mi agito. Quindi cerco di non rendermi totalmente conto di quello che sta succedendo. Quando le cose vanno bene mi sento molto onorato e mi sento molto privilegiato, ma non è una cosa che amo analizzare.

Redmayne è un fan dei cinefumetti, a quanto pare:

Vado al cinema e li vedo, quelli belli mi piacciono, gli altri... non molto, ovviamente. Ho visto le performance di Andrew ed Emma in Spider-Man, e sapete, a volte la scala di questi film distrae il pubblico da quanto sono bravi gli attori che ci stanno recitando. Stesso dicasi per The Avengers. Io li vedo con il punto di vista di un attore. Penso che Il Cavaliere Oscuro il Ritorno e altri film del genere: spesso sono film che vengono appesantiti da responsabilità, mentre per me sono molto più straordinari quando vengono percepiti con più leggerezza.

Per quanto riguarda Guardians of the Galaxy, ancora non sappiamo chi interpreterà Star-Lord: vi terremo aggiornati...

Continuano le indiscrezioni sulla shortlist di attori che i Marvel Studios starebbero prendendo in considerazione per la parte di Peter Quill in Guardians of the Galaxy.

Secondo Deadline, infatti, lo studio avrebbe appena aggiunto alla lista anche Joseph Gordon-Levitt, dopo aver già effettuato test con Joel Edgerton, Jack Huston, Jim Sturgess, Lee Pace, Zachary Levi ed Eddie Redmayne. Non è ancora chiaro se la parte è stata già offerta all'attore o se al momento viene presa solo in considerazione l'ipotesi, ma il fatto che Gordon-Levitt abbia già avuto una parte nel Cavaliere Oscuro - il Ritorno sembra non essere un problema (Chris Evans era stato la Torcia Umana nella saga di Fantastic Four prima di diventare Captain America).

E' lo stesso Michael Rosenbaum ad annunciare, via twitter, di aver fatto un provino per la parte di Peter Quill in Guardians of the Galaxy:

Ho fatto un provino per il mio amico James Gunn come Peter Quill in Guardians of the Galaxy. Che sorpresa! Grazie Jimmy.

L'attore, noto per aver interpretato Lex Luthor nella serie di Smallville, si unisce così alla non-così-breve shortlist di attori in lizza per il ruolo di Star-Lord che include: Joel Edgerton, Jack Huston, Jim Sturgess, Lee Pace, Zachary Levi, Eddie Redmayne e recentemente Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Le riprese di Guardians of the Galaxy in estate

Mentre si rincorrono le voci sul casting di Guardians of the Galaxy, i Marvel Studios fissano inizio e location delle riprese del cinecomic diretto da James Gunn.

Secondo Screen Daily, infatti, le riprese si terranno in Gran Bretagna (come già avvenuto per diversi film Marvel): la produzione si svolgerà agli Shepperton Studios del gruppo Pinewood, le riprese inizieranno in estate, anche se non sappiamo esattamente quando (almeno per ora).

Ovviamente vi terremo aggiornati con tutti i dettagli dal set...

CAPTAIN AMERICA: WINTER SOLDIER And GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY 3D Releases Confirmed

No surprise here, but Marvel Studios has officially confirmed that its 2014 cinematic offerings, Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Guardians Of The Galaxy, will be released in theaters in 3D.

Due to all of Marvel Studios' recent releases being post-converted to 3D (with Iron Man 3 and Thor: The Dark World confirmed to be released in the format), this news shouldn't be very surprising at all. Marvel has confirmed on its official site that 2014's Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Guardians Of The Galaxy will be released in 3D when they hit theaters. Winter Soldier, the highly anticipated sequel to 2011's The First Avenger, stars Chris Evans, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Frank Grillo, Scarlett Johansson, Cobie Smulders and Samuel L. Jackson, and is scheduled to be released April 4th, 2014. Anthony and Joe Russo (Community) are directing, and filming will commence this Spring. Guardians Of The Galaxy, a space epic directed by Super's James Gunn, is currently in the casting phase, with many actors testing for the lead role of Star-Lord/Peter Quill. It will be shooting this summer for an August 1st, 2014 release. As stated before, 2013's Iron Man 3 (May 3rd) and Thor: The Dark World (November 8th) are set to be released in 3D as well. The only two announced films from Marvel Studios that have yet to be confirmed for 3D are 2015's The Avengers 2 (May 1st) and Ant-Man (November 6th). But since Marvel has released all of its recent films in the format, expect these two to be as well.

Il rumor è di quelli pesanti anche se la fonte, Latino Review, è solitamente molto affidabile quando si parla d'indiscrezioni collegate all'universo dei cinecomic Made in Marvel.

A quanto pare, la Casa delle Idee avrebbe aggiunto nuovi nomi alla lista d'interpreti fra cui scegliere uno dei protagonisti di Guardians of the Galaxy di James Gunn.

Il sito ha, infatti, messo degli altri nomi nel calderone della short list di attori per la parte di Peter Quill pubblicata da Deadline a fine novembre - trovate maggiori dettagli in questa pagina - successivamente smentita dalla produzione del blockbuster. Si tratta di Wes Bentley, Chris Lowell e Cam Gigandet.

La parte più sostanziosa del rumor è relativa al desidero di coinvolgere anche due importanti "comedian" come Jim Carrey e Adam Sandler. Latino Review sottolinea che non si tratterebbe di un ballottaggio fra i due; la Marvel vorrebbe infatti averli entrambi anche se nessuno di loro è collegato, neanche in via teorica, ad alcun ruolo.

Brian Bendis si pronuncia sui Guardiani della Galassia

In attesa di scoprire chi sarà il "leader" dell'adattamento cinematografico Guardians of the Galaxy, lo scrittore dei fumetti Marvel nonchè consulente cinematografico Brian Michael Bendis ha parlato, senza sbilanciarsi troppo, del nuovo cinecomic di James Gunn:

"Non posso dire nulla di specifico, ma lo script è ottimo. James Gunn ha fatto un ottimo lavoro. Prima di leggere l'ultima stesura contnuavo a pensare: 'Ti prego, fai che non faccia schifo' perchè avevo investito parte della mia vita su questo progetto. E poi ne sono rimasto colpito, che bel lavoro!"

Bendis è attualmente a lavoro sulla serie Marvel NOW! per i Guardiani della Galassia assieme a Steve McNiven, e a tal proposito ha dichiarato:

"E' un'esperienza unica scrivere il fumetto mentre è in corso la pre-produzione del film. Possibly confirming what Iron Man 3 action figures and the ongoing Guardians of the Galaxy comic book series first hinted at, a new report may have spoiled Marvel’s Phase Two plans. Check it out!

After licensed Iron Man 3 toys by Hasbro & Funko revealed a strange Deep Space Suit (of armor?), speculation was bolstered that Marvel plans to have their armored avenger (and most valuable asset) join the interstellar roster of their 2014 Guardians of the Galaxy space epic; akin to the ongoing Marvel NOW! series of the same name. In addition, posted earlier today was a Q&A with Tony Stark himself, Robert Downey Jr. further alluding to the aforementioned idea. And it’s that very interview which has prompted Latino Review to unveil their latest scoop on the subject.

More than likely as early promotional efforts for Guardians of the Galaxy, Marvel’s first non-sequel post-The Avengers, sources of the much-reliable Latino Review have revealed that (spoiler alert): At the end of Iron Man 3, Tony actually does go up into space to hook up with the Guardians of The Galaxy where I also hear he appears at the end of that movie as well.

UPDATE: At the request of Funko reps, we had to remove images of the Deep Space toy.

If true, we now know the gist of two after-credits sequences from Marvel’s Phase Two slate. And considering they will eventually lead up to the hotly-awaited sequel to The Avengers, perhaps this is further confirmation that the Mad Titan Thanos, Star-Lord, Drax the Destroyer, Gamora, Groot and Rocket Raccoon, of Guardians of the Galaxy, will all appear in the Joss Whedon-directed follow-up when Earth’s Mightest Heroes reassemble on the big-screen in 2015. Deadline ha annunciato che sarà Chris Pratt il protagonista di Guardians of the Galaxy, la pellicola diretta da James Gunn in arrivo nell'estate 2014.chrisprattnews.jpg

Dopo tanta attesa e un lungo casting, il nuovo cinecomic della Fase 2 dell'Universo Marvel ha finalmente trovato il suo leader. L'attore, che vedremo prossimamente in Zero Dark Thirty, vestirà i panni di Star-Lord aka Peter Quill, che sarà con tutta probabilità il protagonista della pellicola.

I Guardiani della Galassia è basato sull'omonimo fumetto della Marvel e proporrà un bizzarro team di personaggi che dovranno allearsi per sconfiggere una forza cosmica di proporzioni epiche. A dirigere James Gunn.

Nuovi dettagli sugli effetti speciali dei prossimi film Marvel!

Victoria Alonso, la vice presidente della divisione effetti speciali della Marvel, ha avuto modo di parlare delle prossime pellicole in arrivo dallo studio nel corso dei prossimi anni, film molto attesi come Thor: The Dark World, Iron Man 3, The Avengers 2 e Guardians of the Galaxy.

A proposito del film di James Gunn, Guardians of the Galaxy, e sul come si avvicineranno a personaggi come Rocket Raccoon e Grot:

Cercheremo di farli nel miglior modo possibile. Speriamo di lasciarvi a bocca aperta. La cosa bella della tecnologia è che sta sempre accanto a te, per cui siamo in una fase in cui posso dire che siamo immersi nello sviluppo del look dei personaggi, se tutto va bene dovremo fare dei test di movimento a breve per capire come si muoveranno, ma metteremo tutte le nostre risorse lavorative su questi personaggi in maniera tale da rendere i fan davvero orgogliosi.

Aggiornamenti sui Guardiani della Galassia: le riprese a giugno!

Parlando con Cinema Blend, la vice presidente del reparto effetti speciali della Marvel Victoria Alonso ci offre qualche aggiornamento su Guardians of the Galaxy, la cui pre-produzione è già partita a Londra.

La produzione è già partita! E' cominciata mesi fa e ora abbiamo un'intera squadra operativa a Londra - le riprese partiranno a giugno. Il nostro regista si recherà la la prossima settimana. Un treno in corsa verso un posto meraviglioso.

In realtà - come confermato dallo stesso James Gunn via social network - il regista si trova nella capitale inglese già da una settimana, ma la discrepanza fra le parole della dirigente e la presenza del filmmaker potrebbe dipendere dalle tempistiche di messa online dell'intervista sulle pagine di Cinema Blend.

In ogni caso, Victoria Alonso prosegue parlando della realizzazione di Grot e Rocket Raccoon:

Faremo una combinazione di CG e motion capture. Non puoi fare motion capture con dei procioni, non so quanto siano propensi a indossare delle tute. Probabilmente faremo della rotomation per alcuni comportamenti. Rocket avrà la sua personalità, e non possiamo, chiaramente, fare il mocap di un albero. Di sicuro avremo dei performer che emuleranno quello che James Gunn vorrà veicolare attraverso i comportamenti e le performance. E' molto chiaro su quello che vuole ottenere dai personaggi.

Uno dei bei bagnini di Baywatch si aggiungerà al cast dei Guardiani della Galassia?

Guardians of the Galaxy: Jason Momoa sarà Drax?

Ancora una volta è Latino Review a rivelare un rumour su un film dei Marvel Studios.

Lo scoop riguarda Guardians of the Galaxy, e in particolare il ruolo del villain, Drax il Distruttore, che secondo il sito sarebbe andato nientemeno che a Jason Momoa. L'attore è noto per aver interpretato Conan nel reboot della saga, Conan the Barbarian 3D, ma soprattutto Khal Drogo in Game of Thrones, e più recentemente il villain di Jimmy Bobo - Bullet to the Head.

Secondo il sito Momoa ha partecipato a un test screening mercoledì, a Londra, ed è stato selezionato in una shortlist che includeva anche Isiah Mustafa, Dave Bautista e Brian Patrick. Le trattative ora sarebbero in corso, e quindi ci vorrà qualche tempo prima che venga data ufficialmente la notizia del casting (può anche darsi che le trattative si risolvano in un nulla di fatto), sempre che il rumour sia corretto al 100%: Borys Kitt dell'Hollywood Reporter, infatti, ha precisato su Twitter che l'attore ha effettivamente partecipato al test ma non avrebbe ancora ricevuto offerte.

This news should bode well for fans of Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning's(DnA) epic run on the Marvel cosmic line. Director James Gunn has revealed that he's recently met with the pair at Marvel's UK production offices for GotG.

James Gunn has apparently met with Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning to discuss The Guardians of the Galaxy. The comic book duo were responsible for such noted arcs as Annihilation: Conquest and War of Kings and are credited with reinvigorating Marvel's cosmic characters in the late 2000's.

Are they just visiting or will they be consulting with Gunn on the film? I can't think of better brains for Gunn to pick when it comes to the GotG.
