Tim Allen to Reprise Iconic Santa Clause Role in Disney+ Limited Series

Disney+ has officially announced that Golden Globe winner Tim Allen (Home Improvement) has signed on to reprise his iconic role as Scott Calvin in an original limited series, based on the classic holiday trilogy, The Santa Clause. Production is expected to begin this March in Los Angeles.

The limited series will continue to follow Scott Calvin as he tries to find the right person to take on the mantle of Santa Clause. Fans last saw Allen’s Scott in the 2006 film titled The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause, where Martin Short’s Jack Frost tricks him into renouncing his position as Santa Clause.

“In the Disney+ series, Scott Calvin is on the brink of his 65th birthday and realizing that he can’t be Santa forever,” reads the synopsis. “He’s starting to lose a step in his Santa duties, and more importantly, he’s got a family who could benefit from a life in the normal world, especially his two kids who have grown up at the Pole. With a lot of elves, children, and family to please, Scott sets out to find a suitable replacement Santa while preparing his family for a new adventure in a life south of the pole.”

It hails from executive producer and showrunner Jack Burditt, who is known for his work on hit shows such as 30 Rock, Modern Family, and Frasier. In addition to starring, the Toy Story vet will also be executive producing.

The Santa Claus series is a production by 20th Television. Executive producers are Kevin Hench, Richard Baker, and Rick Messina.

The Christmas trilogy began with the 1994 film which featured Scott Calvin as Santa Claus’s proxy, complete with expanding waistline, rosy cheeks, and snow-white whiskers. He went on to reprise the role in two sequels, 2002’s The Santa Clause 2 and 2006’s The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause. The franchise was a box office success with a combined worldwide gross of over $470 million.

Sono molto affezionato a questa trilogia, quindi il progetto mi incuriosisce molto. Spero solo che non ci sia un twist alla Noelle…

Gradito ritorno.

Da Deadline

Elizabeth Mitchell To Return As Mrs. Claus For ‘The Santa Clause’ Disney+ Limited Series

EXCLUSIVE: Tim Allen won’t be the only one suiting up as North Pole royalty for Disney+. Lost alum Elizabeth Mitchell will also return to the world of The Santa Clause to reprise her role as Carol, aka Mrs. Claus, for the streamer’s upcoming limited series. The project comes from Last Man Standing creator Jack Burditt, who serves as showrunner.

In the The Santa Clause (w/t), Scott Calvin is on the brink of his 65th birthday and realizing that he can’t be Santa forever. He’s starting to lose a step in his Santa duties, and more importantly, he’s got a family who could benefit from a life in the normal world, especially his two kids who have grown up at the Pole. With a lot of elves, children, and family to please, Scott sets out to find a suitable replacement Santa while preparing his family for a new adventure in a life south of the pole.

Mitchell first appeared as Carol in the 2002 film The Santa Clause 2. In the sequel, Allen’s character must find a Mrs. Claus to continue being the jolly, red holiday icon. In 2006 Mitchell returned for The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause, where Santa deals with a conniving Jack Frost played by Martin Short.

Burditt and Allen will executive produce alongside, Kevin Hench, Richard Baker and Rick Messina. The Disney Branded Television series is a production of 20th Television, a part of Disney Television Studios.

Mitchell, known for her roles on ABC’s Lost and Once Upon a Time and NBC’s Revolution, recurs on the second season of Netflix’s Outer Banks and is set as a lead in the streamer’s upcoming vampire drama First Kill produced by Emma Roberts. Mitchell, who recently joined Ellen Burstyn, James Caan, and Ann-Margret in Queen Bees and starred in and produced the SXSW indie feature, Witch Hunt, is repped by Link Entertainment and APA.

‘The Santa Clauses’ Adds Laura San Giacomo As Christmas Witch

EXCLUSIVE: Laura San Giacomo has been hired to inject some more Christmas magic to The Santa Clauses.

The actress, last seen in Barry and NCIS, will play La Befana — a Christmas Witch from Italian folklore who delivered treats to good children on the morning of the epiphany. She now resides in the Wobbly Woods of the North Pole.

San Giacomo reunites with Jack Burditt, who is the executive producer and showrunner of the Disney+ comedy that stars Tim Allen. San Giacomo worked with Burditt on Just Shoot Me.

In the Disney+ series, Scott Calvin (Allen) is on the brink of his 65th birthday and realizing that he can’t be Santa forever. He’s suddenly starting to lose his Santa magic, and more importantly, he’s got a family who could benefit from a life in the normal world, especially his two kids who have grown up at the North Pole. With a lot of elves, children, and family to please, Scott sets out to find a suitable replacement Santa while preparing his family for a new adventure in a life south of the pole.

Recently, Deadline broke that David Krumholtz will reprise his beloved role as Bernard the elf. The series will also star Elizabeth Mitchell as Carol/Mrs. Claus, Elizabeth Allen-Dick as Sandra, Devin Bright as Noel, Austin Kane as Cal, Matilda Lawler as Betty, Rupali Redd as Grace and Kal Penn as Simon Choski.

The Emmy-winning Burditt (30 Rock, Frasier) is the executive producer and showrunner and Allen, Kevin Hench (Last Man Standing), Richard Baker and Rick Messina will also serve as executive producers along with Jason Winer and Jon Radler for Small Dog Picture Company.

The Disney Branded Television series is a production of 20th Television, a part of Disney Television Studios.

CITAZIONE (Daydreamer @ 16/11/2022, 20:53) *
