Da Twitter:

Disney Live-Actions Brasil @DisneyLABR:

RUMOR: Danny DeVito Circling Live-Action ‘Hercules’ Role

Earlier this year, you might recall that we released a video detailing everything we know about Disney’s live-action Hercules film so far. In that video, we discussed how Danny DeVito expressed interest in reprising his role of Phil from the animated film. While we haven’t heard anything else ourselves regarding casting recently, a new rumor suggests that not only was the studio looking to cast some of the key roles of the film before the Hollywood strikes, but that DeVito was actively being pursued.

According to industry insider Daniel RPK, DeVito spoke with House of Mouse about returning to play Phil right before the SAG strike. While it’s unclear how the conversation went, considering how enthusiastic the actor has been about coming back we’re willing to bet that he was pretty close to coming back. Sadly, we’ll have to wait for both strikes to blow over before production on any Disney project returns to normalcy.

Now, if DeVito does reprise his role, he’ll be the second actor to make the jump from animation to live-action after James Earl Jones, who came back to play Mufasa in Jon Favreau’s The Lion King.

Additionally, RPK confirmed that both Taron Egerton and Ariana Grande were being eyed to play Hercules and Megara respectively. We had previously mentioned their potential involvement in our video as well. You can check it out down below!

As of now, there is no official synopsis for the project; however, we expect it to follow the animated original, which follows the titular Hercules, a demigod with super-strength raised among mortals, who must learn to become a true hero in order to earn back his godhood and place in Mount Olympus, while his evil uncle Hades plots his downfall.

Guy Ritchie, who directed Disney’s billion-dollar hit remake of Aladdin, will be behind the camera with hopes of repeating box office success. Dave Callaham (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) wrote the initial script. As of now, there is no release date set for Hercules. . Stick with The DisInsider as we continue to cover this project and more from The Walt Disney Company.

Dal sito The Disinsider:

Hercules

Guy Ritchie, who directed Disney’s billion-dollar hit remake of Aladdin, will be behind the camera with hopes of repeating box office success. There is no plot as of yet but we expect it to follow the animated original, which follows the titular Hercules, a demigod with super-strength raised among mortals, who must learn to become a true hero in order to earn back his godhood and place in Mount Olympus, while his evil uncle Hades plots his downfall.

A little over a year ago we heard the studio wanted to work with superstar Ariana Grande, who would fit the role of Hercules love interest Meg. Grande has been busy with Universal on their 2 Wicked movies. As for the titular hero, we had heard names like Michael B. Jordan (Black Panther, Creed) and Taron Egerton (Kingsman). Again, these names are no confirmation, just something we have heard. It should be noted that director Guy Ritchie and the Russo’s like bringing in talent they have worked with in the past to their new projects.

Disney typically doesn’t bring talent from the animated projects into their live-action remakes; however, James Earl Jones became the exception when he returned for 2019’s billion-dollar smash hit The Lion King, reprising his role as Mufasa. So, why are we bringing that up? Well, Danny DeVito has expressed that he wants to return as Phil saying, “If they don’t put me in that, they don’t have a hair on their a–, I am the live-action ‘Hercules’!” Let me dive in by giving you all a little “rumor of the week”, while nothing is confirmed at this time, the expectation is the studio will bring back DeVito as Phil.

Rumor:

* Guy Ritchie non sarà più il regista del film

Dal sito The Disinsider:

Guy Ritchie No Longer Directing Disney’s Live-Action ‘Hercules’

It’s been a minute since we received any official update on Disney’s live-action Hercules film. However, there’s an interesting piece of news about the project floating around the web that we felt compelled to cover.

Yesterday, industry insider Daniel RPK revealed that Guy Ritchie was no longer attached to the project.

While this might certainly be news to the masses, we just want to report that this is not news to us. Just last month, on The DisInsider Show, we revealed that we had heard the exact same thing.

More specifically, during our “Rumor of the Week” segment in our December 3rd episode, we explained that we had actually heard Guy Ritchie didn’t exactly leave the project. Instead, he had just become too busy.

Considering how Ritchie has been pre-occupied with so many other projects, this is not surprising. He’s an absolute beast of a filmmaker who, at the time of writing this article, also has another two film’s in post-production and another in pre-production according to IMDb. That’s not including his recently announced (and completed) spin-off to his 2020 film The Gentlemen.

And if you were excited about the possibility of Ritchie at least re-teaming with Disney for a sequel to 2019’s Aladdin, we hear that’s not likely either.

Now, if you’re curious about where the rest of the live-action Hercules film stands so far, definitely check out our roundup video below:

As of now, there is no official synopsis for the project; however, we expect it to follow the animated original, which follows the titular Hercules, a demigod with super-strength raised among mortals, who must learn to become a true hero in order to earn back his godhood and place in Mount Olympus, while his evil uncle Hades plots his downfall.

Dave Callaham (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) wrote the initial script. As of now, there is no release date set for Hercules.
