John Musker lascia la Disney Opzioni

John Musker, regista di Aladdin, La Sirenetta, Hercules, La Principessa e il Ranocchio, Il Pianeta del Tesoro, Basil l'investigatopo e Oceania, lascia la Disney. E' andato in pensione.
Attualmente lavora a un suo personale cortometraggio in 2D.
Non si sa se anche Ron Clements, suo collaboratore nei vari film, abbia inteso lasciare la Disney anche lui oppure rimanga.
Come avevamo pensato da tempo e avevamo detto, Oceania era l'ultimo suo film per la Disney.
Come si dice, è ufficialmente finita un'era.

John Musker, Co-Director Of ‘Aladdin’ And ‘Moana,’ Retires From Disney After 40 Years

John Musker is retiring from Walt Disney Animation Studios after 40 years.

Starting at Disney in 1977, Musker, 64, had been a key figure at the Disney animation studio since the early-1980s, where he co-directed and co-wrote seven features with his creative partner Ron Clements: The Great Mouse Detective, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Hercules, Treasure Planet, The Princess and the Frog, and Moana. It’s a monumental and admirable filmmaking legacy – and we can only hope that Musker will someday talk about his experiences making those films and working at the studio in an autobiography.

On Sunday afternoon, a retirement party was held for Musker at the Pickwick Gardens in Burbank. Here’s some pics of the festivities from those who were lucky enough to attend:

Esce di scena un grande, davvero grande per tre motivi:

1) è stato un grande pioniere di una nuova era quando la Walt Disney aveva perso completamente credibilità e speranza.
2) è stato un grande per il coraggio dimostrato di andare controcorrente e riprovarci con Tiana, nonostante i bastoni tra le ruote dei capi.
3) è stato un grande traditore, perchè ha chiuso la sua parabola mostrando l'impossibilità di tenere la schiena dritta di fronte quegli stessi capi a cui aveva saputo resistere, mandando avanti la produzione di un'opera che, inizialmente, sia lui che Clements volevano in maniera tradizionale.

Se non fosse per il terzo punto, saremmo di fronte al congedo di una leggenda; ma non è Keane, lui non se n'è andato via con l'onore delle sue convinzioni e la schiena dritta; no, Musker è rimasto e ha abdicato alla propria arte in favore di un qualcosa che (ci dicono) lo sia.
