Da We Got This Covered

Disney Developing Live-Action Robin Hood Remake

Oo-de-lally, oo-de-lally, golly, what a day! Fans of the animated Robin Hood are going to be singing that joyous song all day once they hear this news: according to our sources – the same ones who told us that an Aladdin sequel is happening, a Ms. Marvel TV show was in the works and that a She-Hulk TV series was coming to Disney Plus, all of which have since been confirmed, so we have no reason to doubt them – Disney is currently in the early stages of developing a live-action reboot (similar to the style of the recent Lion King) of their 1973 classic.
The original film followed the adventures of Robin Hood and Little John as they teamed up with the inhabitants of Nottingham to fight the oppressive taxation from the hostile Prince John. Unlike other features that revolve around the iconic hero, though, Disney’s flick used anthropomorphic animals to portray the legendary characters. The movie was a financial success and has since become known as one of the best adaptions of the famous tale.
From what we understand, the studio will once again use animals in its storytelling. It’s a smart move, too, as many of the other live-action projects that have tried to tell the tale of Robin Hood with humans ended up disappointing at the box office. Besides, why make changes to the formula if it worked so well the first time around?

As mentioned above, the film will likely follow the path of the highly successful remake of The Lion King, employing CGI for most of its scenes. Whether the movie keeps in its fun songs or opts to completely remove them, that we don’t know, but we’re certainly curious to find out. Lastly, it’ll also be interesting to see if the studio decides to give this feature a theatrical release like Jon Favreau’s aforementioned flick or instead chooses to release it on Disney Plus like the Home Alone remake.
Clearly, there’s a lot we still don’t know about the new Robin Hood, but keep checking We Got This Covered for more news about the flick as it breaks, as well as information on all of the other upcoming Disney live-action reboots, of which there are many.

Dal sito The Disinsider:

It’s been a few years since we received an update, but Carlos Lopez Estrada (Blinspotting) is attached to direct Robin Hood. Kari Granlund, who wrote the live-action remake of Lady and the Tramp for Disney+, wrote the script. Disney producer Justin Springer (Dumbo, Tron: Legacy) is also onboard the project. The film will use a hybrid of live-action and CGI, as the characters will be anthropomorphic like the animated film before it. The film will also be a musical, which is different from the original. The film has been put onhold but sources say the project will very much happen.
