Marvel Rumored to be Developing 'Ironheart' Movie as Iron Man Successor

While Marvel fans are still reeling after the events of Avengers: Infinity War and awaiting the game-changing events of Avengers 4, a new rumor may indicate a whole lot about what kind of changes are coming in Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe: an Ironheart movie is reportedly in development:

The Black List

@theblcklst
IRONHEART by Jada Rodriguez was one of the best scripts our readers read last week.

The Hashtag Show has added that the script appearing on The Black List (a list of Hollywood's most popular unmade screenplays) could be a sign that she was indeed commissioned by Marvel to write an exploratory draft. There's no comment from Marvel Studios yet, so this is just a developing rumor at the moment.

Ironheart, aka Riri Williams, is a successor to Tony Stark / Iron Man in recent Marvel Comics runs. She was created by comic book maestro Brian Michael Bendis, as a young teenage prodigy who is manages to reverse-engineer the Iron Man armor tech all by herself, while studying at MIT. While doing some moonlighting int he armor, she's eventually discovered by Pepper Potts and Tony Stark, who endorse and help support her on the road to becoming a superhero. Tony sends Riri an A.I. version of his consciousness, which serves as her mentor and allows her to build her own new armor, becoming the hero "Ironheart."

This movie would make a lot of sense for Marvel Studios, as it enters a vastly different Phase 4 landscape of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As we've previously discussed, an Avengers 4 time jump may find Tony in a very different place as an "eye-in-the-sky" kind of world defender, as well as a father to he and Pepper's child. Whether Tony dies during, or survives Avengers 4, it may be time for him to hang up his Iron Man title, instead following the comics by becoming head of SHIELD, or some other supervisor role. That would clear the lane for this rumored Ironheart film to actually be the Iron Man franchise release for MCU Phase 4, with room for Downey to cameo (read: get paid for vocal/facial performance ) as the Tony Stark A.I., and return in the flesh for key big MCU events or cameos. For his part, Downey has already publicly stated that he's behind the idea of Riri taking over.

Do you think Marvel Studios is really developing an Ironheart movie - and is now the time? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!

Ant-Man and the Wasp is now in theaters. Avengers: Infinity War will be released on home video in August. Other upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe movies include Captain Marvel on March 8, 2019, the fourth Avengers movie on May 3, 2019, Spider-Man: Far From Home on July 5, 2019, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 in 2020.

Dal sito https://mcucosmic.com/2019/07/13/there-appears-to-be-several-inactive-facebook-pages-for-future-marvel-movies/:

There Appears to Be Several Inactive Facebook Pages For Future Marvel Movies

Here’s something very interesting in the week leading up to San Diego Comic Con.

ComicBook.com noticed that there are some unactivated Facebook pages that look like they’re for future Marvel movies. Specifically, ComicBook found pages for Black Widow and Marvel’s Eternals that are set to private and not active yet:

Facebook.com/BlackWidow
Facebook.com/MarvelsEternals

If you view these pages on a desktop browser they show the page you see when a Facebook page isn’t published for the public yet and is private:

[...]

Following their discovery of those two pages, it’s been found that there are several other phantom pages for Marvel properties:

Facebook.com/DarkAvengers
Facebook.com/YoungAvengersOfficial
Facebook.com/MarvelsIronHeart

None of those are too surprising as they’ve all been heavily rumored to be happening. That Hashtag Show reported that there is a Dark Avengers script, Young Avengers has been rumored, and of course there has been a lot of talk about Iron Heart recently.

Will all of these be announced at SDCC next weekend? It’s hard to say. Black Widow and The Eternals are a certain, but the others are definitely interesting to consider…

Quindi fate attenzione!

Dal sito https://wegotthiscovered.com/tv/robert-downey-jr-return-ironheart-disney-show/:

Robert Downey Jr. May Return To The MCU For Ironheart Disney Plus Show

Iron Man sacrificed himself to save the universe in Avengers: Endgame, but this being the MCU, fans aren’t convinced we’ve seen the last of Tony Stark in the franchise. One common idea is that he could return in the form of an AI version of himself in the future. We thought this might occur in Spider-Man: Far From Home via E.D.I.T.H., but that didn’t turn out to be the case.

Fans might not have been too far off, though, as We Got This Covered has heard from our sources – the same ones who told us Ewan McGregor was returning as Obi-Wan and that Robert Pattinson would be playing Batman – that Robert Downey Jr. may be headed back to the MCU for an Ironheart TV show. Marvel apparently wants to do a Disney Plus series starring Riri Williams’ Ironheart, the teenage genius who continues Tony’s legacy in the comics, with Downey Jr. expected to return in a voiceover capacity as her suit’s AI. Much like Paul Bettany’s J.A.R.V.I.S.

Though Marvel’s yet to confirm this, there’s been a lot of talk of Ironheart joining the MCU of late. Perhaps tellingly, Downey Jr. himself recently made clear he wants to see the character in the franchise. Likewise, the idea of Riri having Tony as her AI is pulled straight from the source material. Ironheart first debuted on the page when Stark was in a coma and the world needed a new Iron person. This could be easily translatable to the MCU as well, which we know is in mourning for Stark thanks to Far From Home.

Featuring Downey Jr. in a voiceover capacity would also be a neat way of bringing him back but in such a way that wouldn’t take up too much of his time, as he’s got a lot of new projects on the horizon. As such, an Ironheart show seems like a win-win scenario all around, so we’re definitely hoping Marvel follows through on their plans here and we can have a bit more Tony Stark in the MCU in the near future.

‘Ironheart’ Series in The Works at Disney+

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. WandaVision. Loki. What If…? Hawkeye. Ms. Marvel. Moon Knight. She-Hulk.

And now, reportedly… Ironheart.

Marvel Studios has quite the lineup for Disney+ series coming in the next few years. All eight of those listed series have finished being written, and now Marvel is developing an Ironheart series.

Ironheart follows Riri Williams, a teenage engineering genius at MIT who builds a suit based on Tony Stark’s Iron Man and dons the superhero name Ironheart.

According to The Cinema Spot, Marvel’s Ironheart series is planning to start shooting near the end of next year.

There is currently no attached writer or showrunner for the series.

In the meantime, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and WandaVision are both set to premiere later this year, respectively in August and December.

Dominique Thorne Cast as Riri Williams in Disney+’s Ironheart

Amongst all of the exciting tidbits revealed by Marvel at the Disney Investor Day presentation, Kevin Feige revealed that Riri Williams, notable successor to Iron Man in the comics, is making her Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in the Disney+ series Ironheart with If Beale Street Could Talk star Dominique Thorne cast in the lead role!

Created by Brian Michael Bendis and designed by Mike Deodato, the character of Ironheart first appeared in Invincible Iron Man issue No. 7 in a cameo appearance before making her full debut in issue No. 9 as a 15-year-old engineering student who lives with her mother and paternal aunt in Chicago following the death of her father before attending the Massachusetts Institute of Technology on a scholarship, as she is a certified genius.

Working alone, she designs a suit of armor similar to the Iron Man armor using material stolen from campus and begins fighting crime herself, but while trying to prevent the escape of two inmates from the New Mexico State Penitentiary, her suit is damaged and she must return home and continue working on the suit, much to the dismay of her aunt. Original Iron Man, Tony Stark, eventually hears of Williams’ accomplishment and sets off to meet her and, after getting to know her, elects to endorse her decision to become a superheroine.

Much like the Don Cheadle-starring Armor Wars series at the streaming platform, Disney+’s Ironheart will have to tweak the source material a bit as the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Tony Stark is dead following his heroic sacrifice in the finale of Avengers: Endgame and with star Robert Downey Jr. essentially retired from the role, it’s unlikely to see his iteration of the iconic hero meet the up-and-comer in her journey to eventually take on the mantle of Iron Man.

RUMOR: IRONHEART COULD FEATURE THE APPEARANCE OF AN EXCITING MARVEL LEGACY CHARACTER

The Illuminerdi has been hearing some interesting rumors about a Marvel legacy character with ties to Iron Man making an appearance in Ironheart.

Marvel Studios has a ton of exciting projects on the horizon, but what is especially interesting are the projects tied to Avengers from the Infinity Saga. Hawkeye introduces and sets up Kate Bishop as the next master archer of the MCU, Black Widow introduced Yelena Belova the sister of Natasha Romanoff and former Widow of the Red Room, and The Falcon And The Winter Soldier explores Sam Wilson’s decision to take on the mantle of Captain America. Interestingly Tony Stark’s story continues even after his sacrifice. This was first seen in Spider-Man: Far From Home, but two other projects that are expected to tie heavily into Iron Man’s legacy are Ironheart and Armor Wars.

Riri Williams aka Ironheart will first be introduced in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, but her solo Ironheart series is still largely a mystery. Recently we’ve been hearing some interesting rumors about a Marvel legacy character with ties to Iron Man who could be appearing in Ironheart.

From the rumors we’ve heard Ironheart could include the son or daughter of Obadiah Stane, the villain in Iron Man. It seems this character will be in their 40s, brilliant, and comedic, which sounds intriguingly similar to Sam Rockwell’s Justin Hammer. But all may not be what it seems with this character who has secrets to hide.

WILL IRONHEART FEATURE THE SON OR DAUGHTER OF OBADIAH STANE?

Based on this rumor it seems like this Ironheart character could be a version of Ezekiel “Zeke” Stane. Ezekiel “Zeke” Stane first appeared in The Order #8 (2008) created by Matt Fraction and Barry Kitson. In the comics, Zeke Stane is a genius inventor and manipulative villain who purposefully lives off the grid. He is an enemy of Iron Man, seeking vengeance against the armor-clad hero for the death of his father. Unlike Tony Stark who creates Iron Man armor, Zeke Stane is obsessed with upgrading himself with cybernetics and biotech. To this end he uses Stark Tech that he procures on the black market to experiment on himself and others.

It seems this version of the character will be older with a comedic element that could hide a potential manipulative edge possibly lurking under the surface. In the Ironheart comics Tony Stark takes on a mentorship role for Riri Williams after he discovers her Iron Man inspired armor. However, with Tony Stark having sacrificed himself in the MCU it seems like Ironheart may be in the market for a new mentor.

Now this is pure speculation, but the son or daughter of Obadiah Stane could be the perfect character to step into that role. In the comics Ezekiel Stane hides his identity working off the grid. This could be the perfect way to introduce the character while hiding their true identity and intentions. If they do take on a mentorship role towards Riri Williams it could potentially set up the perfect double cross with the character possibly revealing themselves to be an antagonist for Riri Williams. They could also potentially be set up as an antagonist for other Iron Man legacy heroes.

Ironheart Set Photos Confirm a Major Avengers Villain's MCU Debut

New images taken from the set of Marvel Studios' Ironheart have revealed that Anthony Ramos will make his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut as The Hood in the Disney+ series.

The images show the actor as the Hood sporting a comics-accurate costume, including the character's iconic red cloak. Created by writer Brian K. Vaughan, and artists Kyle Hotz and Eric Powell, Parker Robbins/The Hood first appeared in his own self-titled limited series in July 2022. An expert marksman, the Hood originally wore a cloak and boots that were stolen from a Nisanti demon and granted him the powers of invisibility and levitation. He has been affiliated with The Cabal, The Initiative and the Illuminati and is a frequent foe of the Avengers in the pages of Marvel Comics.

Ramos joined the cast of Ironheart in Feb. 2022, with the actor sharing a photo on Instagram of the casting announcement. "We in the [Marvel] universal mix," he captioned the photo. He also wrote, "Gracia a Dios por la oportunidad!" which, when translated to English, reads, "Thank God for the opportunity!" The Hood has been rumored to appear in Ironheart since Jan. 2022, when a casting description for one of the series' main villains seemed to line up with the comics' version of the character. Marvel Studios reportedly has major plans for The Hood, with Ramos and the character rumored to appear in the Thunderbolts movie after his debut in Ironheart.

Mephisto MCU Actor Reportedly Cast, Will Debut in Ironheart

Fans were hoping to see the devilish Mephisto appear in the Disney+ series WandaVision. While that didn’t happen, a recent report hints that the character could be appearing soon.

According to recent reports from various insiders on Twitter, including the well-known “My Time to Shine,” actor Sacha Baron Cohen is set to portray the iconic villain in the upcoming Ironheart Disney+ series.

While not too much is known about his role, the insider did note that The Hood — who will be played by Anthony Ramos — will receive his magical powers from Mephisto after coming to a deal with him. In the comics, this deal was done with the cosmic entity Dormammu, who appeared in the 2016 Doctor Strange film. However, that seems to be changing a bit now to accommodate the arrival of Mephisto.

Rumors of Mephisto’s appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe have been around for years, with many fans believing that he would show up in WandaVision as the reason for Wanda Maximoff’s control over the town of Westview. However, that wasn’t the case, and now it looks like Mephisto could finally be arriving to the MCU after a long wait.

In the comics, Mephisto is every bit as demonic as fans would imagine. As an immortal demonic entity, Mephisto can manipulate a ton of different things through his magical abilities that include shapeshifting, project illusions, altering time, and more.

Ironheart hails from head writer Chinaka Hodge (Snowpiercer). It is being directed by Sam Bailey and Angela Barnes, with Ryan Coogler executive producing through his Proximity banner. The genius titular hero is set to make her Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in the long-awaited Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which will arrive in theaters later this year.
