Scissor, nel primo post se ti va dovresti segnalare che nelle date è indicato prima il mese e poi il giorno perchè altrimenti si rischia confusione... non tutti infatti sanno che in America si scrive "mese/giorno/anno" a differenza dell'Italia in cui si scrive "giorno/mese/anno"...

ma il nipote del mago avrebbero dovuto farlo per primo poichè narra la nascita di narnia e se non l'avevano fatto per primo allora io l'avrei messo per ultimo come spin off

Quello che non capisco è lo spostamento di Old Dogs! Ad aprile andava benissimo. ora lo mettono una settimana dopo The Surrogates nel mese di Novembre in cui hanno già A Christmas Carol. E hanno buchi ad Agosto Settembre Ottobre. Hanna Montana era una ottima controprogrammazione a Wolverine. Ora è 2 settimane dopo Monsters vs Aliens...

Un'immagine che mi sembrava carino postare... ditemi voi se metterla anche da qualche altra parte, non sapevo dove metterla...



la trovo interessante sia per i loghi di Trilli che per notare che, non so perchè, The Bear and the Bow è scritto meno in rilievo di Newt o Cars 2.. questo potrebbe voler dire che nel 2012 ci sarà anche il film in 2D successivo a Tiana che tanto aspettiamo (notare il buco tra Rapunzel e King of the Elves)..

Appena una settimana prima di Brave? Prevedo ulteriori spostamenti, anche se l'estate 2012 sarà molto affollata. Brave è esattamente un mese dopo Madagascar 3 e uno prima L'era glaciale 4, quindi non dovrebbe muoversi. Sul fronte live-action, fine giugno e luglio saranno occupati da Star Trek, Batman e Spiderman. Boh, vedremo.

A me dispiace anche che abbiano fatto andar via Scott Rudin, grandissimo produttore che, non ha caso, quest'anno ha due gran bei film che hanno anche fruttato parecchio:The Social Network e True Grit (su questo non avrei scommesso un centesimo... è un western del resto; sarà la scarsa offerta natalizia di quest'anno... boh!)

Forse Hidden Beauty (Disneynature) ha nuovamente cambiato titolo, in Wings of Life. Un articolo di Stitch Kingdom parla di questo film (Wings of Life), ma il regista è lo stesso di Hidden Beauty, quindi presumo siano lo stesso film.

Award-winning documentary director and cinematographer Louie Schwartzberg will appear at the 2011 TED Conference in Long Beach, California to discuss and preview his new film for Disneynature, Wings of Life. The feature documentary, which examines pollination and the real threats to our world’s food supply, will be released on March 16 by Disneynature throughout France, followed by distribution in the U.S. and select markets worldwide.
Schwartzberg was motivated to take action by news of vanishing bees, known as Colony Collapse Disorder. The result is Wings of Life, which reveals the intricate symbiosis between animals, insects and the world’s food supply, much of which relies on pollination, and how human encroachment and pesticides threaten to disrupt this delicate balance. Through time-lapse, slow-motion and macro imagery showcasing the interactions between plants and animals, the film brings this critical issue to light.
The imagery in Wings of Life “may be some of the best nature footage ever. It’s amazing!” said Bruno Guissani, director of TED Global and TED University.
“Wings of Life reveals the amazingly complex interactions between species where nature uses beauty as a tool of survival and seduction,” said Schwartzberg. “Without this delicate keystone event between the animal and plant worlds, life as we know it would cease to exist.”
Over the past 30 years, Schwartzberg has pioneered and perfected the art of time-lapse, nature and aerial cinematography, in his quest to reveal the stunning beauty of the earth, its natural riches, and the systems that keep the world in perfect equilibrium.

Blue Sky Disney ha riassunto tutti i futuri progetti animati dei WDAS:

A lot has been happening in the Hat Building over the past six months...
After all, at the end of last year saw the release of "Tangled," which was a huge film for the studio. Not only did it relieve a bit of pressure to perform by the Disney animators, it also made way for a lot of projects to move further into development. Many have complained that there wasn't much in development over the past few years, causing many an animator/artist to get a layoff notice.
I am happy to tell you that that is not the case now. Of course, the development slate is nowhere near as large as DreamWorks Animation, which has a very large and long list of projects, but it is getting fattened up, and it's still growing.
First off, we know that Walt Disney Animation Studios next film is the hand-drawn sequel "Winnie the Pooh," which comes out as counter programing to "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows Part 2." But where does the road take us after that?
Well, come 2012 we know that Rich Moore's "Wreck-It Ralph" will be the studios' animated offering. I hear that the project is very different from the last few films, but still shares the same, Disney heart. If some of the hysterically dark scenes I heard make it though the cut then this one will get an unusually rare, PG13 rating for the 52nd animated feature from Disney Animation. But we'll have to wait and see what final form it arrives in.
As of 2013, the next project to be moving down the pipeline is newly re-envisioned "King of the Elves," which has been chugging along under the direction of Chris Williams (something we reported exclusively last year). The storyboarding has been going on, new scenes are being written and the story structure is being tightened up. This CG animated feature should tentatively arrive during the holidays unless a kink in the production process pops up. I've heard many people asking if rumors of it being out of development were true and from what I know, it has continually been moving forward since last year.
Now for 2014, it gets a little murkier, as these projects are in a more fluid state of development, so changes could happen. But as of now, this is what you are likely to see.
Based on the current state of projects, a CG version of "Snow Queen" directed by Chris Buck is likely to see release sometime during the year. The story structure problems that popped up in the last hand-drawn version seem to be ironed out and storyboarding has moved forward with Chris' unique take on the material. And for those of you wondering if it'll be faithful to the original story? I can only say that it'll be as faithful to it as the Mouse was to "The Little Mermaid." Presuming that another film gets released that year, it is likely to be the new hand-drawn film from John Musker and Ron Clements. And no, I'm not talking "Mort" as the rights to that would have required the Mouse to purchase the entire series, which it didn't want to commit to. So this new project is something else that the duo has pitched Lasseter. All that is known, is that it will be hand-drawn.
After that, in the 2014/2015 range will be the untitled project coming from Nathan Greno & Bryon Howard's. Not much is known about this film, but the duo hit it off on "Tangled" and have apparently pitched a project that Lasseter thinks will be great. If their project is not ready, then Dean Wellins' project will fill the slot. His is a story that will be very different from the mold we picture Disney animated films and this is a project that is aimed at all those boys that don't like princess movies.
Sometime around this point in the schedule, Don Hall's super secret project may have been greenlit and far enough down the line to be penciled in for a 2015/2016 release. That project, once announced will generate a lot of buzz in certain geek communities, as it's going to surprise a lot of people for what it is and what it's not. But it's in the very early embryonic stage and it depends on how well the project is received upon the presentation that is being prepared for John and Ed.
After that, there are several ideas that are being prepared for pitches which could compete for time on the release slate, but as of now there you have it. It will be interesting seeing how Disney's marketing department deals with some of these titles as they are out of what we normally picture for a Disney film. Even some of the ones you would think are in the classic mold, are really not.
Although several of these films have titles, they are very much temporary ones and are as much in flux as is the schedule itself. The development track expanding in the last year is a very positive step and Lasseter's trust in the talent is also a very reassuring development as well.
The greatest contribution about last years hit is not the box office it generated, but that it may have untangled the restrictions that had been placed on the company's animation future...

Per il 2013 è in arrivo il "King of the Elves" rivisto, per la regia di Chris Williams. La fase di storyboard sta procedendo, stanno venendo scritte nuove scene e la struttura della storia è stata serrata. Questo film in CG dovrebbe uscire per Natale a meno che saltino fuori dei problemi nella fase di produzione. Nonostante i rumor che fosse stato fermato, da quel che sa il film è sempre andato avanti fin dall'anno scorso.

Dal 2014 in poi le notizie si fanno più confuse dato che questi progetti sono in una fase di sviluppo molto fluida, perciò cambiamenti sono possibili.

Basandosi sulla situazione attuale, una versione CG di "Snow Queen" dovrebbe uscire nel 2014. I problemi di storia che si erano avuti con la versione animata tradizionale sono stati risolti ed è già partita la fase di storyboard sotto la guida unica del regista Chris Buck. Sarà fedele alla fiaba originale? Lo sarà quanto lo è stata "La Sirenetta".

Presumendo una seconda uscita nel 2014 (oltre alla Regina), è probabile che si tratti del nuovo film in animazione tradizionale di Musker&Clements. E no, non si tratta di Mort, dato che i diritti avrebbero costretto la Disney a comprare l'intera serie, questione esclusa. Quindi si tratta di qualcos'altro, è stato presentato a Lasseter. Tutto ciò che si sa è che sarà a mano.

Dopo questi, verso il 2015 ci sarà il nuovo progetto di Howard & Greno. Non se ne sa molto, ma il duo viene dal grande successo di Tangled e ha presentato un'idea che Lasseter ritiene grandiosa.

Se il loro progetto non dovesse essere pronto, toccherà a quello di Dean Wellins. La storia è molto diversa dallo stampo dei film animati Disney ed è rivolta a tutti quei ragazzi a cui non piacciono i film di principesse.

Infine, giunti a questo punto il progetto super-segreto di Don Hall dovrebbe essere pronto per l'approvazione e l'uscita verso il 2016. Si tratta di un progetto che quando sarà annunciato genererà molti commenti in alcune comunità di geek e sorprenderà un sacco di persone per quello che è e quello che non è. Ma è ancora in fase embrionale e tutto dipenderà da come sarà percepita la presentazione che sta venendo preparata per Lasseter e Catmull.

Naturalmente ci sono molte altre idee in stadio embrionale, alcuni dei quali con titoli temporanei, ma per il momento è meglio non parlarne visti tutti i probabili cambiamenti cui andranno incontro. Sarà anche molto interessante vedere come il reparto marketing si comporterà con questi film, visto che alcuni sono molto diversi dai soliti classici Disney, e anche quelli che sembrerebbero essere più canonici in realtà non lo sono.

Questi sviluppi sono molto positivi e anche la fiducia di Lasseter nel talento è rassicurante.

peccato per mort che a quanto pare non vedremo mai.... certo che obbligare la disney a comprare i diritti di tuta la serie per fare un solo film mi sembra un estorsione e capisco la disney che si è rifiutata ....comunque fortunatamente ron e jhon non si lasciano demoralizzare, e anche se un film in anmimazione tradizionale contro 7 film in cgi per i prossimi 6-7 anni è pochissimo, sono comunque contento che il 2d prosegua la sua tradizione e non venga abbandonato mi domando però perchè nel 2014 , anno di snow queen, vogliano puntare su due cavalli e non dilazionare i film uno per anno....e perchè poi proprio l'unico 2d e l'unica fiaba in programma debbano condividere la scena del 2014....vabbè, in ogni caso sono molto fiducioso per il continuo del 2d e sono sicuro che tra gli ultimi progetti citati dall'articolo avvolti nel mistero ci sia anche qualche altro 2d

snow queen fedele alla fiaba originale come lo è stato la sirenetta....da un lato è una cosa positiva perchè ci fa capire che sarà un film in stile classico disney come lo è stato la sirenetta e rapunzel più recentemente....dall'altro lato ,vuol dire che , come il finale della sirenetta differisce da quello della fiaba,allora ci potrebbe essere qualche differenza sostanziale nella regina, non per forza nel finale come per la sirenetta, ma comunque qualche cosa che differenzi il film disney dalla fiaba....ma dopotutto non credo sia un problema la disney ha sempre cambiato qualcosa in tutte le sue fiabe (la principessa e il ranocchio, rapunzel) e questo ha sempre permesso loro di creare una loro versione della fiaba , non semplicemente una riproduzione dell'originale la cosa importante comunque è che la regina si sta gia facendo probabilmente uscirà tra soli tre anni e sarà una versione classica e quanto più fedele all'originale possibile

Devo dire che alcuni progetti sono affascinanti. Contentissimo per King of the Elves. La Regina delle Nevi torna a vivere (anche se temo quel cambiamento "simil-Sirenetta", se è un mutamento più alla Princess and the Frog con la principessa trasformata in ranocchia, scelta che non ho mai approvato, inizio a tremare). Incuriosito dal progetto in 2D. Quanto a Vattellapesca Ralph (aka ogni possibile titolo che includa la parola Ralph), ben vengano le ambientazioni e le scene dark, basta che non si ricada nel tedio simil Tron. Una cosa è certa, l'era della fiaba disneyana con canzoni è finita...

Non crediamo che la Regina delle Nevi sia stile Tiana, visto che comunque non ha fatto il botto al botteghino, ma più stile Bella e la Bestia (a noi piacerebbe in stile Pocahontas/Bella e la Bestia a livello di emozioni)... nel senso che comunque una parte di complesso nei personaggi ci deve per forza essere... vedremo come sarà... secondo noi però sarà musical, almeno crediamo anche se è ancora presto per dirlo... ricordiamo però che Rapunzel nell'incarnazione di Glen Keane non era un musical eppure era davvero forte a livello emotivo... non è detto che una fiaba deve per forza essere un musical, anche se pensiamo che lo sia e sinceramente speriamo e preferiamo che lo sia... chissà... però contiamo che Menken ha già lavorato due volte alle musiche di Snow Queen (prima per il musical teatrale, poi per il progetto 2D oggi convertito in CGI) quindi ci sono molte probabilità che sia un musical... e la storia si presta ad esserlo...

I piani Disney per il futuro



Lo scorso week-end negli USA è uscito al cinema Winnie The Pooh - Nuove Avventure nel Bosco dei 100 Acri; il film, oltre a raccogliere pareri positivi da critica e pubblico, ha ottenenuto un discreto incasso al botteghino che soddisfa le modeste aspettative (dovute alla distribuzione limitata e all'uscita in contemporanea con l'ultimo Harry Potter). Questo risultato, sommato all'enorme successo di Rapunzel, sembra la conferma che i Walt Disney Animation Studios stiano vivendo una rinascita, fase che vogliono sfruttare al meglio facendo riaffezionare le platee di tutto il mondo com'è avvenuto all'inizio degli anni '90. Per fare questo lo studio d'animazione sta pianificando il proprio futuro, annunciando un calendario indicativo per i prossimi anni e valutando i nuovi progetti di cui avviare la produzione.

Nel 2012 uscirà Wreck-It Ralph, di cui vi avevamo già parlato la scorsa settimana. È un progetto davvero originale con uno stile diverso da ciò che il pubblico è abituato a vedere nei film Disney, condividendone però la potenza emotiva. Se alcune scene cupe che sono in lavorazione saranno incluse nel prodotto finale, la pellicola potrebbe ottenere la classificazione PG13 (vietato ai minori di 13 anni non accompagnati), finora mai utilizzata per un film animato Disney.

Il 2013 sarà l'anno di King of the Elves, film in CG che sarà diretto da Chris Williams (Bolt - Un eroe a quattro zampe). La trama è ispirata al romanzo omonimo, l'unica incursione nella narrativa fantasy del celebre scrittore di fantascienza Phillip K. Dick: un uomo comune che vive sulle sponde del Mississipi incontra un gruppo di elfi che lo nomina loro re contro la sua volontà, trovandosi coinvolto in una battaglia contro un malefico troll che minaccia "i suoi sudditti".

Nel 2014 dovrebbe essere il turno di Snow Queen, nato inizialmente come film in animazione tradizionale, convertito poi alla computer grafica e successivamente cancellato; ora il progetto sembra essere risuscitato (in CG), pronto ad adattare la fiaba classica con le licenze che la Disney è solita concedersi nelle sue trasposizioni. I problemi di storia che avevano fatto bloccare la produzione sembra che siano stati risolti, sotto la guida del regista Chris Buck (Tarzan, Surf's Up - I re delle onde).

Lo stesso anno dovrebbe uscire anche un film in animazione tradizionale della coppia John Musker e Ron Clements (La Sirenetta, Aladdin, La Principessa e il Ranocchio), sul quale però non è ancora trapelato nessun dettaglio.

Il 2015 sarà il turno del nuovo film di Byron Howard e Nathan Greno (Rapunzel - L'intreccio della Torre), i quali hanno presentato il progetto a John Lasseter che ha trovato l'idea di base assolutamente geniale. Se non dovesse essere pronto in tempo subentrerà la nuova pellicola di Dean Wellins (animatore Disney al suo esordio alla regia) pensata per quella fascia di pubblico che non apprezza le principesse e quanto rientra nello stereotipo Disney.

Dopo questi film potrebbe prendere forma un progetto super segreto di Don Hall (Winnie The Pooh - Nuove avventure nel bosco dei 100 acri), che però è ancora in una fase embrionale e deve ancora essere presentato ai vertici Disney. Se sarà approvato, quando lo annunceranno si genererà un forte scalpore nella comunità di geek, sorprendendo un sacco di persone per quello che è e quello che non è.

A questa lista possiamo aggiungere il progetto di un film con Topolino, Paperino e Pippo di cui si era vociferato poco tempo fa, con al timone Burny Mattinson (Il Canto di Natale di Topolino, Basil L'investigatopo)...

Insomma, nel pentolone Disney ci sono un sacco di film interessanti, di cui stupisce soprattutto la varietà delle proposte; forse alcuni di questi progetti non vedranno mai la luce o si modificheranno durante la lavorazione, ma quello che è importante è che il più importante studio d'animazione sia tornato in carreggiata e sia pronto ad uscire la crisi che ha attraversato negli ultimi anni.

Look at the box office receipts for even a moderately successful animated film and you know animation studios are becoming Hollywood mega powers. Even five years ago when Disney bought Pixar for $7.4 billion, it was pretty evident that if your company made quality animation, you had a a pretty steady job. Today’s news shines a light on both ends of that equation.

First there’s DreamWorks Animation, the people behind the Shrek and Kung Fu Panda movies, who have just made the bold move to tell their distribution partner Paramount they would not be working together after next year. Then there’s Robert Zemeckis‘ ImageMovers, a company that all but died after the flop Mars Needs Moms (above), which might have found a new home at Universal. Paramount has been distributing DreamWorks Animated films for several years but their current contact is up in 2012. With the current deal, Paramount gets 8% of the grosses on the films but apparently that’s too much for DreamWorks. On Monday, according to The Hollywood Reporter, they rejected Paramount’s proposal to extend the deal through 2013. Paramount saw this coming and, a few weeks ago, announced they would start their own animation company but this means any films that DreamWorks animation has planned past 2012 (which is a lot based on this previously released schedule) are currently without a home.



Where does that leave a film like How To Train Your Dragon 2? All of the other major studios have their own animation divisions and, according to an LA Times article, the only one that doesn’t – Warner Bros. – isn’t interested. That means they’d basically either have to hammer something out with Paramount or self-distribute. Either way, it’s a gutsy decision to basically sever ties with your distributor and could easily be described as anything from extreme confidence to calculated scare tactic.

On to the other production house. ImageMovers, a company co-run by Robert Zemeckis that produced Monster House, The Polar Express and Beowulf, was closed earlier this year after the costly film Mars Needs Moms bombed horribly. Not only did it shut down the company, it stopped production on films like Zemeckis’ Yellow Submarine and, ever since, has left the Oscar-winning director floating around without a project (though he’s been attached to several.)

The latest news states that the company may relaunch in a deal with Universal, a place Zemeckis experienced much success with the Back to the Future films. It would be a first-look deal, meaning Universal gets the first crack to distribute anything ImageMovers creates. Unfortunately, the terms are reportedly not be anywhere near as lucrative as the one the company previously had with Disney. Either way, this move could be the spark that puts several productions such as Yellow Submarine, back on track.

La Disney ha messo in turnaround uno dei progetti di Jerry Brukheimer Horse Soldiers, secondo rifiuto dopo Killing Rommel di alcuni mesi fa.
Spero che questo non alteri i rapporti Disney-Bruckheimer.

Here’s something you don’t often see, producer Jerry Bruckheimer out pitching a movie package. I’m told the Disney-based producer has been out this week with a pitch for Horse Soldiers, an adaptation of the Doug Stanton book that has a Ted Tally script rewritten by Peter Craig, and Nicolai Fuglsig attached to direct. Disney bought the book for Bruckheimer back in 2009. The true story revolves around 12 elite special forces soldiers and CIA operatives who secretly invaded Afghanistan after 9/11. They arrived on horses and helped Afghan fighters capture the city of Mazar-i-Sharif and topple the Taliban. The project has the same level of warfare evident in the Bruckheimer-produced Black Hawk Down, which got made by Sony and Revolution. It’s not the first Bruckheimer project that Disney jettisoned because it didn’t fit Rich Ross’s family film mandate. In June, 2010, Disney put in turnaround an adaptation of the Steven Pressfield historical novel Killing Rommel, after several drafts were written by Randall Wallace and Pressfield, best known for writing Gates of Fire and The Legend of Bagger Vance. Bruckheimer expected to continue that project, which chronicles the daring attempt by a British battalion to capture German Field Marshal Erwin Rommel, at a time when his Panzer tanks were overrunning the North African desert and driving Winston Churchill crazy in WWII. Bruckheimer ultimately gave up on that one, never getting the script quite right. The rights are now available.

Chiedo qui perché non saprei dove chiedere altrimenti, spero di non essere OT: continuo a vedere soltanto Brave come progetto per quest'anno. Niente film di animazione Disney? Solo questo Disney-Pixar?
Già lo scorso Natale era stato triste senza nessun film Disney al cinema e Winnie Pooh sprecato e trattato malissimo in tarda primavera, ma quest'anno riescono a fare addirittura peggio?

Un riepilogo sulla situazione attuale dei prossimi progetti animati dei WDAS:

It's amazing what a couple of years and a blockbuster can do to a studio...

The Hat Building is flying on all cylinders and things are a buzzing. But not everything is going well in the Happiest Studio in Burbank.

Later this year, "Wreck-It Ralph" will debut and show audiences that "Tangled" wasn't a fluke. From the stories I've gotten, it sounds like they really have a heart filled tale that will have everyone seeing this film over and over again. What "Toy Story" did for toys, this does for video games. And the nostalgia for those that grew up on 8-bit games as well as those that love the 90's games are going to be in love with this film. And boys, will eat this up. Get that? "Boys," the marketing demo that the Suits seem to be worried about.

After that, next year we go back to classic fairy tales. Minus the names that tell you they're royalty, of course. But one tale that won't be happening anytime soon is about Elves. That's right, "King of the Elves" was racing with "Frozen" to be the 2013 release and it still has too many story structure problems to make it across the finish line. So many in fact, that Chris Williams is now off the project and going back to work on other projects (not as a director, but story boarder). It seems the script for Snow Queen aka: "Frozen" is in much better shape and it got the release date for next year, while KOTE got put on the shelve. Again.

Ron & John's new project is going through story development and could wind up being the 2014/15 slot, but it's still deep in the early stage so time will tell what happens. A lot of people have commented that this will be the duo's first computer animated film. As of now, there are development test going on for traditional, hybrid and computer examples, and no decision has been made. This decision won't be made for quite a while. Just like Pixar, the focus is on story, story, story. Not, the medium it's presented in.

The projects competing for 2014/2015 are the uber-secret film from Don Hall, which will be a marvelously unexpected project if it ever gets the green light, and Nathan Greno and Byron Howard's films which are deep in development. These are projects that are busy working out the story elements so that the films live up to John Lasseter's high Pixar standards. The one that gets the release slot will be the one whose story is deemed ready to actually animate. Not a bad concept, right?

There are a couple other projects in concept form and many more animators are lining up for pitch sessions with John for a chance to develop their ideas. Slowly the culture has changed over the past half-decade to the point where many animators and artist actually are having fun again. And many are hoping that they will be part of the Third Golden Age of Disney Animation. That is a very good thing.

Those of you that are fans of "Prep & Landing" will be interested in knowing that the ratings for last Christmas' "Naughty Versus Nice" special weren't where ABC/Disney wanted them to go, and any plans for a third special have been put into a holding pattern as the Suits figure out what/where or even when/if it should go forward. It's possible that the advertising schedule didn't exactly set the mark for giving people the information for when it would be broadcast. So Burbank is factoring in merchandise, ratings and other elements to see if there is any viability in creating another special. I certainly hope so, because there was talk of taking all of them and combining the into a film with original footage along the lines of "Winnie the Pooh."

And when talking about animation, if you follow WDAS then you know there was talk of moving down toward Glendale a while ago to be next to WDI. Those plans were canned and plans moved to trying to find a place on the lot to build a new animation building. Well, now the goal is to take the existing animation building and rework it, kind of the way Disney California Adventure had an extreme makeover done to it. And just like DCA was kept open as guests went about their way, so would be the same for artists in the Hat Building. It's nice to know that in addition to screwing up Disneyland's Second Gate, Eisner was capable of screwing up the animation building as well. But thankfully, it's all getting fixed.

But it's great to see the majority of news coming out of the Hat Building to be positive...

Riassunto: Incredibile come possa cambiare il vento in un paio d’anni e grazie ad un blockbuster (Rapunzel). L’edificio dell’animazione è in piena attività, anche se non tutto è perfetto.

A fine anno, Wreck-It Ralph dimostrerà che il successo Tangled non è stato un colpo di fortuna. La storia ha molto cuore; ciò che Toy Story ha trasmesso sui giocattoli, questo film lo farà per i videogame. Sia chi è cresciuto con i giochi a 8 bit sia i nostalgici dei giochi anni ’90 lo amerà. Sarà un successo soprattutto tra i ragazzi, il pubblico su cui la dirigenza era più preoccupata.

Il prossimo anno si torna alle fiabe classiche. Ma una fiaba che non vedremo presto è King of the Elves. Ci sono talmente tanti problemi strutturali sulla storia che il progetto è stato sospeso (di nuovo) e Chris Williams si è messo al lavoro su altri progetti. Invece, lo script di Frozen è decisamente meglio e ha ottenuto una data d’uscita per il 2013.

Il film di Ron & John sta attraversando la fase di story development ed è in fase molto preliminare, quindi è difficile stabilire l’anno di possibile uscita. Nessuna decisione è stata ancora presa sulla tecnica di animazione che sarà usata, né verrà presa a breve, perché il focus è tutto sulla storia, non sul medium in cui è presentata. Per il momento vengono condotti test in animazione tradizionale, in cg e in ibrido.

I progetti in competizione per il 2014/15 sono il film super-segreto di Don Hall, che sarà meravigliosamente inaspettato se mai sarà approvato, e i film di Greno e Howard, che sono in pieno sviluppo. Su questi progetti si lavora agli elementi della storia per raggiungere gli alti standard richiesti da Lasseter. Sarà approvato per primo quello con la storia che prenderà vita al meglio.

C sono un paio di altri progetti in fase di concept che saranno sottoposti a Lasseter con la speranza di poter passare allo sviluppo. Il vento sta cambiando e molti artisti ed animatori tornano a divertirsi di nuovo in ciò che fanno. Molti sperano di esser parte della terza età d’oro dell’animazione Disney.

Per i fan di Prep&Landing, gli ascolti dell’ultimo special non sono stati al livello delle aspettative e per ora non se ne prevede un terzo, a meno che le vendite di merchandise non facciano cambiare idea. Inoltre era stata ventilata la possibilità di unire gli special e del materiale originale per formare un lungometraggio (un po’ come era stato fatto il primo film di Pooh).

Infine, i progetti di spostare l’animazione in un nuovo edificio a Glendale sono stati cancellati. Attualmente si pensa ad un makeover del Hat Building.

E’ grandioso vedere che la maggior parte delle notizie provenienti dai WDAS siano positive.
