Have no idea, they were supposed to begin filming in 2018 in Ireland.


Non si sanno le ragioni del ritardo. Le riprese erano fissate per il 2018 in Irlanda (come da tempo annunciato).


Secondo noi aspettavano di vedere come debuttava la piattaforma Disney +.
Crediamo che tra i vari progetti della piattaforma La Spada nella Roccia era uno dei più interessanti.
Segnaliamo che è stato ritardato e non cancellato. Un po' come è successo con Cruella che è stato ritardato di ben 3 anni rispetto alla tabella di realizzazione inizialmente prevista (è dal 2016 che dovevano girarlo e invece hanno iniziato solo nel 2019).

La serie meglio di no, visto la simil serie Cursed di Netflix. Il film tratto dal Classico per me avrà il successo di Aladdin live action.

Remakes for Bambi, Robin Hood, Sword in the Stone, James and the Giant Peach, and a sequel to 2016’s The Jungle Book are also in various stages of development. Though, I am told these projects are much farther away from beginning than the aforementioned films we’ve listed. The studio is also in development on a Prince Anders film for Disney+, as well as the Gaston and Lefou series, and Mulan spin-offs.

Lin-Manuel Miranda Wishes He Could Have Written a Sword in the Stone Song

Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda expresses wishes to write a song for the Disney classic The Sword in the Stone after watching with his son.

Hamilton creator and star Lin Manuel Miranda expresses a desire to write music for the Disney classic The Sword in the Stone. Miranda has experienced immense success over the last decade, ever since making his Broadway debut in 2008 with In the Heights, which won Tony awards for Best Musical and Original Score. Miranda’s career reached its apex when he created the cultural phenomenon Hamilton, a rap-musical that retold the story of the American founding father Alexander Hamilton, which won countless awards and is still performing seemingly endless sold-out shows.

Naturally, this attracted the attention of Hollywood, leading to Miranda being involved in several film projects and becoming a somewhat permanent fixture of the Disney corporation. Miranda has been a regular contributor to various projects across the company’s IP, whether it be writing the instant classic “You’re Welcome” for Moana to contributing incidental music for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Most recently, he has contributed all of the original songs for Disney’s newest animated feature, Encanto, focused around a family living in a hidden enchanted place that grants them unique magical gifts.

In an interview with Collider, Miranda says that, if given the opportunity to work on any of Disney’s IP, he would be most interested in writing a song for the 1963 animated feature The Sword in the Stone. The film, based on T.H. White’s novel of the same name, is a retelling of the classic King Arthur myth, with Arthur as a young boy aided by the wizard Merlin to fulfill his destiny. Miranda admits in the interview that the film had been something of a blind spot during his childhood and that he had developed a new appreciation for it after watching it with his young son. In the quote below, Miranda details seeing his son’s reactions to a particularly intense moment in the film and realising the dramatic potential the film delivers on:


I can tell you one of the ones that I didn’t watch so much growing up, that my kid loves is The Sword in the Stone. There’s something so incredible about when that wolf first shows up to menace Wart, I saw my kid get really scared for the first time. And then, immediately the wolf light falls down a cliff and falls on his face, and the laugh my kid let out when that happened was so delicious. It was such a lesson in tension and release and relief. So, there’s probably something fun in The Sword in the Stone to be mined. I don’t know. I’m spit-balling.

It’s clear that Miranda not only identifies what works about the aforementioned moment but, more importantly, how it is received from the perspective of a child. For being a family-friendly company, Disney has developed a reputation for providing many vaguely ‘traumatising’ moments in children’s movie-going experiences. These can range from overtly scary moments, such as the frightening forest that in Snow White in the Seven Dwarves, to emotionally upsetting ones, such as the death of Mufasa in The Lion King. Miranda seems to identify that, while these moments challenge children, this is a healthy part of their development, and it can be beneficial to introduce them to new emotional experiences through the window of fiction.

There is certainly a possibility for Miranda to contribute to The Sword in the Stone in a certain sense, despite the film releasing nearly 60 years ago. A live-action remake has been in development since 2015, with director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo at the helm, and is set to release onto the Disney+ streaming service. Miranda himself has been writing new songs for the upcoming live-action remake of The Little Mermaid alongside original songwriter Alan Menken. Of course, Miranda may not want to be signed onto another very similar project so soon after, but with his deep connections within the Disney company, the potential is definitely there.

Io da questo film vorrei un lieto fine per la povera scoiattolina.
Personalmente la farei trasformare in umana da Merlino per poi scoprire che si chiama Ginevra.

Però nella vita non sempre c'è il lieto fine e per me quella scena è potente proprio per la lezione che Semola impara in tutto il suo percorso di crescita, quasi un presagio alla lezione che dovrà imparare da grande...sappiamo che Ginevra non è stata un tesoro di compagna scappandosene con Lancillotto .

Verissimo, ma il bambino che è in me vuole un po’ di sollievo.
Scherzi a parte, ma in generale ci vedrei bene questa scelta narrativa perché avrebbero un facile aggancio per dare una svolta in parte romantica al film e in questo caso mi andrebbe benissimo se Ginevra si rivelasse scura di pelle perché si parlerebbe di uno scoiattolo che diventa umano e non deve essere per forza bianca l’attrice... certo, ci sarebbe comunque chi si lamenta, ma approverei la scelta (al contrario di Ariel che vabbè.)

Il fatto è che dubito che la Disney di oggi lascerebbe la scena triste così com’è.
Poi ovviamente è più facile che tutta la parte degli scoiattoli non ci sia proprio.

Bravo, hai già capito. Chissene dell'amore! e poi la scoiattolina che dà tutta questa priorità all'amore invece che a fare carriera o i viaggi di formazione e scoperta non è educativa per le giovani bambine!

ci piacerebbe troppo una Ginevra realizzata dalla Disney... ma non pensiamo possa essere la scoiattolina (che c'è anche nel libro da cui è tratto La Spada nella Roccia e in seguito nel libro c'è pure Ginevra)

la sequenza della scoiattolina è troppo importante e non crediamo che la toglieranno... forse un maggior lieto fine lo daremmo, ad esempio diventa un'amica di Artù e lo segue a Camelot e sarà una sua fedelissima amica, assieme ad Anacleto... sarebbe interessante e avrebbe la quota rosa che nel film originale manca...

se poi facessero che la scoiattolina è Ginevra non ci dispiace come idea, anzi...

Wow, non vedo l’ora di conoscere gli interpreti. Chi di voi muterà aspetto rispetto alla controparte animata? Non mi pare abbiamo già avuto un Artù nero, come pure Merlino. Tenderei ad escludere Magò, anche se sarebbe la più interessante per una variazione etnica, a mio modo di vedere le cose. Dopotutto con Kang, alla Marvel, hanno appena dato il via libera ad un iconico cattivo di colore. Quindi potrebbero cavalcare l’onda.

Sì, sarebbe un bellissimo cast, con la sola nota amara che, ad oggi, è impensabile mettere l'unico attore nero come cattivo. Guardate le recenti polemiche sulla serie netflix Mercoledì.

Basta poco nicolino, trovando un'attrice etnica come interesse romantico per Semola, magari trasformando la scoiattolina in umana, non so. Ma ci sono tante possibilità di inserire attori neri positivi oltre ai protagonisti principali. Resto dell'idea che Magò nera sarebbe incredibile, con un'attrice carismatica, bassina e rotondetta. Octavia Spencer in effetti sarebbe un gran bel cast.
