Trent Correy, regista e animatore presso la Walt Disney Animation, ha annunciato su Instagram che sta lavorando a un progetto super segreto con Eric Goldberg, Andrew Feliciano (supervisore all'animazione di Strange World, Raya e l'ultimo Drago ed Encanto e animatore su Ralph 2, Oceania, e Big Hero 6) e Dan Abraham (storyboard artist alla Disney).
Tutte le nuove leve hanno lavorato a Raya e l'ultimo drago, Encanto e Oceania.

Il nuovo cortometraggio della Disney si intitola Once Upon a Studio ed è dedicato ai 100 anni della Disney.
E' un cortometraggio diretto da Dan Abraham e Trent Correy.
Il cortometraggio è presentato oggi nella cerimonia di apertura del Festival dell'Animazione di Annecy in Francia
Protagonista è Topolino che raduna una serie di personaggi della Disney per una foto di gruppo.

Annecy Animation Fest Opens On Defiantly Positive Note After Knife Attack; Ceremony Features World Premiere Of Disney 100th Anniversary Short

The 47th edition of Annecy International Film Festival opened on a defiantly upbeat note on Sunday evening just three three days after its picturesque lakeside home was rocked by a violent knife attack.

“Three days ago, Annecy’s joie de vivre was attacked. I’m convinced that the best response to this drama is to live life even more to the full and more intensely,” Annecy major François Astorg told a packed Bonlieu auditorium.

“With this conviction, I believe that art and culture celebrates life, questions it and allows us make it better,” he added, saying this year’s edition was an act of resistance.

The atmosphere in the auditorium was positive as the youthful audience kept up the festival tradition of firing paper planes at the stage.

Thursday’s attack by a lone knifeman on four nursery age children and two adults, took place just metres from the festival hub on a large, lawned recreational area known as Le Pâquier, which is the site of the open-air screenings and other events throughout the year.

While the opening ceremony has gone ahead as planned, the festival announced on Friday that it was delaying its open-air program by one day out of respect for the victims and their families.

It’s open-air arena played host instead to a large gathering of local people on Sunday morning to mark Thursday’s events.

By the afternoon, children were once again playing in the park, while people curiously looked at the large mound of flowers and cards from well-wishers that has piled-up besides its slide.

The festival opens this year with French filmmaker Benoît Chieux’s first solo animated feature Sirocco And The Kingdom Of Air about the adventures of two young sisters who get trapped in the pages of a children’s book and its fantastical Kingdom of the Winds.

It is among 11 titles competing for the festival’s Cristal award.

“Beyond Sirocco, a wind of hope that can blow through this theatre if we want it,” said Astorg.

Prior to the opening film, the audience was also treated to the world premiere of Dan Abraham and Trent Correy’s new short Once Upon A Studio celebrating Disney’s 100th anniversary.

The pair explained how they had initiated the project off the grid, working nights and weekends to figure out a way to pay tribute to the studio and its legacy.

The clever work, featuring a cameo by legendary 70-year animator Burny Mattinson, sees Mickey Mouse corralling a gallery of legendary Disney characters for a group photo.

Abraham and Correy described the work as a “love letter” to the studio.

Me getting to act alongside my idol posthumously, using previously unheard dialogue, would NEVER EVER happen without the consent of his estate. My love for Robin Williams is literally unmatched and I would never do anything unless I was guaranteed that it was with all of the proper sign-off and support. What Disney animation has done with the INCREDIBLE short #OnceUponATimeInAStudio is not only a love letter to my creative hero (and the reason I wanted to play Olaf in the first place), but to a 100 year legacy that is truly unmatched. Étant au Festival d’Annecy, j’ai pu découvrir en avant-première ce court-métrage incroyable qui m’a ému, rendu heureux et mis des étoiles plein les yeux!
Une somme incroyable de personnages de tous les films d’animation depuis Blanche-Neige et les Sept Nains à Wish - Asha et la Bonne Étoile sont présents, mélangés et réunis au sein du studio d’animation qui lui est tourné en images réelles.
Les animations 2D comme CGI sont inédites et une quarantaine de voix originales ont repris leur « rôle » : un vrai bonheur que j’avais rêvé sans trop espérer et pourtant ils l’ont fait!
Pour certains ce sera peut-être un peu trop méta ou fan service en jouant sur la nostalgie du public, et pour d’autres ce sera un vrai plaisir que de voir tous ces personnages préférés réunis dans un hommage à Walt Disney et aux 100 ans de ses films d’animation dans un seul et même court-métrage.

Molti però dicono che questa è un idea migliore di Wish e che avrebbero dovuto fare il film del centenario su questo concept
Non sono d’accordo, va bene un corto o una serie divertente come House of Mouse, ma un intero film solo di mega crossover fra tutti i personaggi Disney mi parrebbe un po’ noioso

Anch'io la penso così, Gary, non avrebbe aggiunto niente. Wish è ciò che ci voleva, bisogna vedere se davvero è ben concepito, ma ci voleva sicuramente un film nuovo, perché non sono i personaggi a fare la Disney, è lo spirito che deve sopravvivere, la filosofia di Walt, così volta al benessere dei bambini, alla ricerca della felicità nelle piccole cose, all'eterna giovinezza.

Comuqnue so che piangerò quasi al 100% nel vedere questo corto...

How long does each character talk? Is it just a 1 second for each character so everyone can get a chance?
and did you notice Boun/ Namaari, maybe next to Raya?
Aside for Mickey who have a big role most characters have one line [usualy a quick joke] but few have more like Moana has a longer scene interacting with Flounder (which is pretty fun since she is CGI and he is handdrawn) I don't remember Namaari or Boun but odds are she is somewhere there - the short is like watching "Where is Waldo" book in some shots.

Sadly no (you have to see it ) but Gastone has a very funny moment awith a very unexpected character and even get's to humn his song

I'm almost sure you can spot Eugene at some point but there was so much going on... I was amazmed when they had the main dog from "Olive and Company" appear (sadly no lines)

Nope, she was in the same dress she was in "Tangled" - they tried to have all characters as close to their movies as possible so no variation on them
ooo thats great i cant wait to see it! btw i hope her hair is still brown cause yk what happened in the series. I hope they made her have the short hair
Sorry again, but her hair is gold and long. But remember this short isn't canonical and more treating characters like their just came alive from pictures on the wall of Dinsey studio. Kuzko is still a Llama, Pinocchio is a wooden boy etc.

Where's Pumbaa.
He is in the movie (Timon rides on him) but I don't recall him having any lines
Timon get's to talk with Olaf so that is fun

Was it all new dialogue (aside from Genie obviously being reused)?
As far I can tell it was all new. Eric Golberg who was on presentation said they got over 40 voice actors from their movies to reprise their roles and that there is ZERO reused animation and all is 100% new and hand drawn (aside for CGI characters). The Only ones that felt reused (but I can be wrong) where the Faries from "Sleeping Beauty". Genie's dialog is NEW (sort of) as it was unuse line from William's improvisation for the role. I'm also curious about Iago and Ursula as their lines where clearly new but the actor died recently (Did they used unused material or did they recod it before deaths?) Few lines felt lines from the movies - Rafiki say "It is time" but I don't know did they got the actor or sound alike or just reused line from the movie.

Please tell me Anna and Elsa are in their Frozen 1 outfits and braided hairstyles. I’d be really disappointed if they don’t use their OG looks
I honestly don't remember such detail but I recall Elsa was dress as she was in Frozen 1.

The short try to have characters as close their looked in their movie as possible so she looks as if she just walk out middle of "Tangled". She has her trusty pan

Do Princess Aurora and Princess Jasmine appear at all?
They are there - all princesses from Disney are there (so no Merida since she is a Pixar character) I just don't recall do they have any solo lines/moments but they where there.

HANS IS THERE... I KINDA EXPECTED THIS...
I won't spoil it but it's honestly the second most funny gag in the short. People where claping from laughter

Oswald yes (you can clearly spot him in one shot) but not Rogger - not part of this studio/legacy. For same reason there is no Pixar characters.
When I say "studio" I specificly mean Disney's animation unit.

Ci ha colpito sapere che Mark Henn disegna Trilli e Biancaneve nel corto (per le bambole Animator's aveva disegnato Cenerentola e lasciato Aurora e Biancaneve a Glen Keane, qui invece disegna la prima principessa oltre a disegnare Ariel, Jasmine, Tiana, Anna ed Elsa) mentre Randy Haycock disegna Pocahontas (oltre a Kida e Aladdin) e Tyler Pacana disegna Aurora. James Baxter torna per Belle e la Bestia oltre che per disegnare Bambi

Delle Principesse non si sa , per ora, chi disegna Cenerentola e Rapunzel

Appena visto su Disney+.

Premetto che sarebbe stato auspicabile un qualcosa di più lungo e articolato di un corto di 8 minuti ma, visti i tempi che corrono, c'è solo da ringraziare che abbiano effettivamente fatto qualcosa!

Ho letto in giro commenti che denigrano la qualità del 2D, dicendo che alcuni personaggi sono off-sheet (se questo è il termine appropriato da usare). Effettivamente, lo si nota un po' in alcuni casi (Biancaneve e la Fata Madrina su tutti, o più in generale sugli 'eroi' umani). Ma a parte questi rari casi, credo che gli animatori abbiano fatto un lavoro di grande rispetto verso i film originali. Alcuni personaggi tornano in grande splendore, e il modo in cui interagiscono tra di loro è squisito. Per esempio, ho molto apprezzato il Cappellaio Matto e Robin Hood e Little John.
Pensate poi che gli animatori che hanno lavorato al corto hanno animato diversi personaggi che, seppur Disney, appartengono a diverse epoche e stili. Non è facile animarli senza aver attraversato tutto il processo di uniformazione dello stile che solitamente è previsto per i film. Quindi, posso solo dire ben fatto!

Confido che se volessero produrre un nuovo film in 2D avrebbero tutte le potenzialità per rilasciare qualcosa di grande qualità (visiva almeno).
Ho molto amato l'animazione del Grillo Parlante, per esempio.

In definitiva ci sono molti momenti nostalgici e un l'ho trovato un bel tributo alla storia degli studios.

Vero, un bel tributo, da vedere e rivedere per scovare e riconoscere tutti. Buon 100° anniversario, cara vecchia Disney!

L'animazione credo sia in parte riciclata (ad es. il volo di Peter Pan e dei Darling, per citarne uno). Le animazioni nuove dei personaggi 2d oscillano fra il "fuori stile" (es. il Grillo disegnato con lo stile di Goldberg anziché quello anni '40, ma ci può stare) e il puro obbrobrio sugli umani (es. Biancaneve e il Principe di Cenerentola). Non a caso in ogni inquadratura il rapporto di personaggi 3d, ormai più facili da rappresentare, e 2d è circa 50:50, quando storicamente quelli 2d sarebbero molti di più.
