Ryan Gosling & Zac Efron Up For STAR WARS EPISODE VII?

Leonardo DiCaprio may have passed, but according to Latino Review these two other actors are very much in the spotlight for J.J. Abrams' upcoming seventh installment in the Star Wars franchise. Read on for more..

Latino Review report that Ryan Gosling (Only God Forgives, Drive) and Zac Efron (The Paperboy) are being looked at for roles in Star Wars: Episode VII. The site reckon Gosling would play "Luke's kid", but have no information on which character Efron would play (they assume one of Han Solo/Princess Leia's children). They mention that both actors have "went in" for these roles, so that suggests they've actually read for them and aren't just on Disney's radar. Of course we'll have to take all this as rumor for now, but what do you think of these casting choices? J.J. Abrams will direct the next Star Wars movie with a script from Toy Story 3 scribe Michael Arndt.

Rumor: Ryan Gosling and Zac Efron Eyed for STAR WARS: EPISODE VII?
by Adam Chitwood Posted 2 days ago

As the proposed early 2014 production start-date on Star Wars: Episode VII looms closer, director J.J. Abrams is going to have to start letting some minor details about the film slip. Actors’ schedules will need to be booked, which means that casting announcements are likely to be coming out of Disney/Lucasfilm very soon. Many expect some casting to be officially unveiled at this weekend’s Star Wars Celebration in Germany, and we can expect at least something to be announced at the event. However, some news may or may not have jumped the gun, as a new casting rumor has surfaced online claiming that a couple of very recognizable names are being eyed to join the film: Ryan Gosling and Zac Efron. Hit the jump for more.

Before we proceed, it is very important to keep in mind that this is a rumor. There has been no confirmation whatsoever out of Disney or Lucasfilm, so don’t start crying foul just yet. That being said, the folks over at Latino Review are hearing that Ryan Gosling and Zac Efron are being eyed for roles in Star Wars: Episode VII. Gosling is apparently up for the role of Luke Skywalker’s son since the story takes place 30 years after the events of Return of the Jedi, but LR doesn’t know which role Efron is up for. The report also states that Leonardo DiCaprio met for another role earlier on, but he’s no longer involved with the project.

I find it a little surprising that such well-known names are being bandied about for Episode VII, which is why I don’t completely buy this rumor just yet. The Star Wars name sells itself, so Lucasfilm is more likely to go with either complete unknowns or young talent on the cusp of stardom—think something along the lines of Dane DeHaan or Andrew Garfield pre-Spider-Man. At this point, though, it’s anyone’s guess, so yes Gosling and/or Efron could certainly be possibilities, and they fit this casting breakdown for the film.

Again, none of this is confirmed, so it’s best to reserve all anger/frustration/elation until some sort of official casting announcement surfaces, which in all likelihood will be this weekend. There had been rumors swirling earlier this week that Abrams was considering dropping out of the project altogether, but those were quickly squashed by an official statement from Lucasfilm. Star Wars: Episode VII is expected to be released sometime in 2015.

Rumor
http://www.blueskydisney.com/2013/08/the-new-emperor.html

The New Emperor...

Take it with a huge grain of space smuggler's salt, but...

There is a rumor going throughout the Internet that J.J. Abrams is going to be much more involved in the lives if the Skywalkers than previously suspected.

It's a trap!

Well, possibly but it's a geeky rumor that could have lasting affects if true. The news comes from Stat Wars Episode 7 News via Comic Book Movie and as of right now is just a new hope. Yes, I went there.

So what is this news?

That J.J. Abrams could wind up being the Galactic Overlord, the creative advisor of all things Star Wars. In a sense, what Joss Whedon is to Marvel, J.J. would be to Star Wars. And not just the films, but television, books, comics, video games, merchandise, and Internet. A position he doesn't hold in that other science fiction series he's trekking across.

What's this effect would have on his producing capacity over at Paramount, no one knows. But it seems highly unlikely that he would have a very deep integral position with that franchise after the next film in the series. Which is fine by me, were he to retain power over Wars and Trek it would be a little too much cross pollinating fot myself. now that's been proven you can go on without the original Kirk and Spock, finding another director/producer to take control of the series shouldn't be that difficult. Although I'm sure the fans will definitely weigh in on this.

But Abrams taking control of the creative aspects of the Star Wars universe, while allowing Kathleen Kennedy Kennedy to retain the managerial part would be a fine set up for most Star Wars fans, I believe. The Mouse has set up its divisions with strong executives to keep production going strong for years.

Alan Horn has Sean Bailey working on Walt Disney live action, over at animation he has Ed Catmull handling the business side and John Lasseter handling the creative. At Marvel he has Kevin Feige doing the business side and Joss Whedon on the creative side. And if this is true, Kennedy in charge of day to day management, while J.J. Keeps the Star Wars Universe turning. After Episode VII, he'll probably step back into a producer role. Like he did with "Mission: Impossible 3" when he stepped aside and let Brad Bird direct the next one.

Yes, I went there...

Lucasfilm Reveals Plans for Darth Vader TV Specials
Source: Jedi News
October 18, 2013 Tweet48 1
Ever since Disney purchased Lucasfilm, the future has looked very bright for the possibilities of "Star Wars," but today's announcement, straight out of the European Brand Licensing Show, is a little out of left field.

Jedi News has discovered a brochure from the official show that shares some details that Disney is planning for the franchise, most notably some "Darth Vader themed" television specials. The brochure doesn't specify if the specials will be animated or live action, but we have our guesses that it could be a tie-in to the upcoming Star Wars Rebels.

Other information included in the brochure includes Star Wars LEGO games coming for mobile platforms in the spring/summer of 2014, a "digital library" in the fall/winter of 2014, and the tentative plans for a spring/summer 2015 release date for the highly anticipated Star Wars: Episode VII.

What do you want to see in a Darth Vader TV specials? Sound off below!

Dan Mindel (Star Trek, Into Darkness: Star Trek, John Carter, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Mission Impossible 3) sarà il direttore della fotografia; girerà il film in pellicola.
Abrams in diversi film.

Abrams.

As Oscar winner Michael Arndt exits, producer Kathleen Kennedy sought — and was denied — a delay, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter.

Disney might be experiencing a disturbance in the Force.
With the Oct. 24 exit of Star Wars: Episode VII writer Michael Arndt, the studio is under the gun to keep the film on course for a 2015 release despite a script that several insiders say isn't close to ready.

According to those close to the project, producer Kathleen Kennedy and most of the film's creative team have asked Disney to push the release to 2016, but studio CEO Robert Iger is adamant that Episode VII -- perhaps the franchise's most anticipated installment since 1999's The Phantom Menace -- not budge. That has created enormous pressure on all involved, with director J.J. Abrams stepping in to take over scripting duties with Lawrence Kasdan, who co-wrote 1980's Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, considered the best film in the series.
For his part, Arndt worked exclusively on Episode VII for most of the past year and already had penned a 40- to 50-page treatment before Lucasfilm was sold to Disney in October 2012. But as one of Hollywood's highest-paid screenwriters, who can command more than $300,000 a week doing rewrites, the Oscar-winning scribe (Little Miss Sunshine) was ready to move on to other projects.
Some sources say Abrams has become autocratic in recent months, wresting some casting control from Kennedy. But others disputed that notion, saying Abrams and Kennedy both have been involved in casting sessions. Unlike Kennedy, Abrams is said to be more in sync with Iger's desire to meet the 2015 release target -- which allows zero margin for error -- at all costs.
STORY: Michael Arndt Exits 'Star Wars: Episode VII'
Although the 2015 schedule already is full of tentpoles including Disney/Marvel's Avengers: Age of Ultron, Warner Bros.' Superman-Batman mashup and Lionsgate's final Hunger Games, Iger has crafted a Star Wars game plan that hinges on Episode VII hitting the big screen that summer. The studio is expected to roll out Episodes VII, VIII and IX over a six-year period, with at least two spinoffs -- penned by a team including Kasdan and Simon Kinberg -- interspersed between.
Still, another project insider dismisses talk of problems and what the writer shuffle means for what is perhaps Hollywood's most valued franchise. "It's nothing out of the ordinary," says the insider. "Almost every big movie changes writers at some point. There's no drama here."
