Ecco cosa riporta THR:

Buona visione!

Novità da Toonzone:

A small information for the show Taken from Steve Wackers blog.

Anonymous Asked
Question

in a perfect world here guardians of the galaxy gets an animated series and you are in charge of it, what specific guardians comic arcs you would like to adapt? (I am not saying there is a guardians animated series coming, i know its not coming : P)

Answer

Apparently I live in a perfect world!
Our plans for the Guardians show are pretty huge. Director Leo Riley and story editor Marty Isenberg have plans that will probably make GOTG the biggest show we’ve done.
i don’t want to say too much about where they’re headed, but it’s probably bigger than you’re thinking and they’re probably dogging deeper into the Marvel library than you even imagined.

Kevin ha inoltre già doppiato Groot in Hulk And The Agents of S.M.A.S.H..

Comic-Con 2015: Marvel Animation Previews ‘Guardians,’ ‘Ultron Revolution,’ ‘Sinister 6’ and More

If yesterday’s Marvel TV panel closed the gap on Comic-Con 2015’s lack of movies, Marvel’s upcoming animation slate might well pave over it. Preview the animated Guardians of the Galaxy, along with Marvel’s Avengers: Ultron Revolution and Ultimate Spider-Man Vs. The Sinister 6 by our full panel coverage!

Avengers Assemble has plenty left in its second season before launching the Ultron Revolution, including the return of the Squadron Supreme and the big showdown with Thanos. We also saw a few clips of Ultron Revolution, including the debuts of Ant-Man (in full movie costume), Doctor Strange, and early looks at Black Panther, Captain Marvel, The Vision, Kang, Baron Zemo, and sketches of the Inhumans.

Speaking of Inhumans, the Kamala Khan’s Ms. Marvel will be joining the fray at some point, as Marvel looks to beef up the profile of the Inhumans and their royal family overall. It all dovetails into a major Civil War event, which features heroes and villains alike squaring off.

Clips from the upcoming season included a redesigned Ultron facing off against Iron Man, Hawkeye and Black Widow fighting Kang’s robots from the future, and plenty of good Ant-Man action.

As to Ultimate Spider-Man, Season 3 will conclude with an epic “Contest of Champions” arc, which itself was thought to be a series finale before the Sinister 6 renewal. An insired and lengthy clip saw Iron Man, Hulk and Spider-Man pitted against Molten Man, Kraven the Hunter and Wendigo, all orchestrated by The Collector and his brother the Grand Master. Kraven vs. Hulk isn’t something you’d expect to see onscreen necessarily, but could be one of the more interesting Hulk fights we’ve seen.

Moving into Ultimate Spider-Man Vs. Sinister 6, Doc Ock organizes the villains to finally capitalize on his hatred of Spider-Man, with some exciting guests. Not only will Mark Hamill return as Arnim Zola, but so too will Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. stars Elizabeth Henstridge and Iain de Caestecker bring Jemma Simmons and Leo Fitz to the series!

We got to screen the entirety of the Guardians of the Galaxy pilot next, for which we’ll save most spoilers, but rest assured that the spirit of the movie is intact. Tunes, team dynamics, and some seriously stellar visuals, nailing every detail from Baby Groot to the appearance of Peter Quill’s broker at Knowhere. James Arnold Taylor is a particular highlight as both Yondu and telepathic pooch Cosmo, both weaving in and out of a plot that sees the team investigating a mysterious “Cosmic Seed” and its connection to Quill’s past.

Panelists Stephen Wacker, Eric Radomski and Cort Lane joked that eight episodes into production had left them with some hilarious vocal outtakes, though none they could share with the panel, given their vulgarity.

The fan Q&A saw a tiny Ms. Marvel adored by the crowd to the point of being brought up onstage as a panelist. Asked if she was scared of Ultron in the movie, she gave a cool “nope.”

Finally, Wacker also confirmed that Guardians of the Galaxy would take the place of Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. on the production schedule.

Premiering through August and September, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy features Will Friedle as Star-Lord, David Sobolov as Drax, Vanessa Taylor as Gamora, Kevin Michael Richardson as Groot and Trevor Devall as Rocket Raccoon, and James Arnold Taylor as both Yondu and Cosmo. So reads the full synopsis:

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy follows the newly-formed team who finds a strange artifact keyed only to the DNA of Peter Quill. Upon opening it, Quill unleashes a treasure map leading to a powerful weapon known as the Cosmic Seed which is capable of giving birth to the next universe. It’s up to the Guardians to find, protect and ultimately destroy the Cosmic Seed in order to keep it out of the hands of those who would abuse its power, from galactic big boss Thanos, to the conniving brothers the Collector and the Grandmaster, to a resurrected Ronan, to the ultimate trickster, Loki, in order to save the universe.

Not Marvel-ous enough? Avengers: Ultron Revolution (Season 3) will see the marquee Avengers going up against the likes of Baron Zemo, the Masters of Evil, the Inhumans, and Kang the Conqueror. New help will come from Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Ant-Man, and Ms. Marvel, undoubtedly reflecting the upcoming film slate, while the recent press release alludes to the team having “a chance of surviving an all-out Marvel super hero Civil War.” Sound familiar?

As to Ultimate Spider-Man vs. The Sinister 6 the nefarious team joins forces with Doctor Octopus and Hydra, with our core hero enlisting the help of S.H.I.E.L.D., Agent Venom, the Iron Spider, Miles Morales Spider-Man incarnation, and even the Scarlet Spider.

You can check out the latest sizzle reels, and stay tuned for more on upcoming Marvel Animation!

The 'Guardians' Team Up With 'Yondu' In New GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Clip

Marvel comics released Guardians of The Galaxy last year to surprisingly large sucess, and ever since then, the Guardians have been enjoying their time in the spotlight. They became much more prevalent in the comics (something that will continue into Marvel's All-New All-Different relaunch), there is more Guardians merchandise than anyone ever thought they would see in-stores, and now, the titular band of misfits are getting the animated treatment over on DisneyXD.

The upcoming series, which follows the sci-fi adventures of Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket Raccoon, and Groot, has got plenty of fans excited (even those who hate Avengers Assemble, Ultimate Spider-Man and Hulk And The Agents of S.M.A.S.H. are cautiously optimistic). Following a number of two minute clips that Marvel Entertainment released, highlighting the origins of the various members of the group, they have now released a one minute (well, 0:51 minutes to be precise) clip showing the team all fighting together - alongside Yondu!

Behind the Scenes on the GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY TV Series, Part 1

Written & Copyright Edward Gross

The global success of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy took pretty much everyone by surprise, not only by far surpassing box office expectations, but in the way it turned its quintet of characters into Marvel’s latest superstars. At the same time, it reignited the audience’s interest in deep space adventures and paved the way for a new animated series based on the film that premieres tonight at 9:30PM on DisneyXD.

Guardians, released in 2014 (with a sequel due in 2017), brought together Peter Quill/Star-Lord, a human/alien hybrid who becomes leader of the team; Gamora, the green-skinned assassin trained by Marvel uber villain Thanos, who is seeking personal redemption; Drax The Destroyer, a warrior seeking to avenge the death of his family at the hands of Ronan and, ultimately, Thanos; Groot, a tree-like humanoid with a number of remarkable abilities (not the least of which is limb regeneration), and whose vocabulary seems to be limited to the words “I am Groot,” but whose meaning is so much more; and Rocket Raccoon, a gun-toting, tough-talking raccoon who is around as the result of a number of science experiments, and he’s the only one who understands Groot perfectly. Together, they’re searching the cosmos for adventure, walking the line between being heroes and outlaws.

In these exclusive interviews, cast and crew provide us with a behind the scenes look at the series.

WILL FRIEDLE
(Voice, Peter Quill/Star-Lord)
The first time I saw the film, it was the most fun I'd had a movie theater in as long as I can remember. People were cheering, yelling at the screen. It was a blast. I walked out saying, "I want to go see that again right now!" It's like a great book that you finish and start all over again. There are a lot of superhero movies that have come out and I'm a fan of the genre, they're great, but they start to take on kind of a darker sense. In Guardians, here come these five characters that are anti-heroes. They need each other and they form this really bizarre, dysfunctional family. That just resonated with people; they're heroes unlike any that anybody had ever seen before.

STEVEN WACKER
(VP Current Series, Marvel Animation Studios)
I think what they hit in the movie is what comic fans have known for fifty years: Just how much personality drives the Marvel superhero universe. It doesn't have a lot to do with their powers. It's about their stories. The powers are great and they're fun and, particularly for little kids, they can play along with them. It's really that at the core we're a company about characters and what their story is and what their struggles are. With Guardians, other than the Marvel logo, I don't know that Guardians of the Galaxy looked like a superhero movie to people. It was really about these five ne're-do-well outcasts and how they were going to work together. There's something about that that's universal to people. It's just fun to see the characters bounce off of each other. And Guardians really has scored. Even with our fan base with just how deep the struggles are for these characters. And their personal stories. They end up being heroes in spite of themselves.

CORT LANE
(Co-Executive Producer)
And they're pretty funny, which is refreshing because the action genre can be pretty grim and serious at times. And these five losers are a breath of fresh air; the way they play off of each other is really fun to watch and listen to. We wanted to capture a lot of that in the animated series as well.

STEVE WACKER
Something that's really at the core of all the Marvel characters, and it's something that Stan Lee, Steve Ditko and Jack Kirby discovered in 1962, which is that with the best Marvel characters, what happened to them as a superhero actually makes their personal life worse. There's a price for using those powers. I think that comes through with Guardians as well. They've got to find their way through trying to be heroes and doing the right thing, although it affects them personally.

DAVID SOBOLOV
(Voice, Drax The Destroyer)
Guardians of the Galaxy speaks to diversity and speaks to acceptance. They are some wonderful beings coming from diverse worlds. It shows you can bring a diverse group together to form a team made up of equal respect. I would like to see more of that in the world.

TREVOR DEVALL
(Voice, Rocket Raccoon)
I hadn't seen anything like Guardians in a long time. A lot of people say that when they saw the movie, it was like watching Star Wars for the first time again. Certainly that was my experience of it.

CORT LANE
People ask about connections between the films and animation. Obviously so much of what we do is directly inspired by the films, and we try very hard not to contradict them. The continuity is not shared, but similar enough that they're very recognizable. It's more about not contradicting each other and being inspired by some of the fun stuff they're doing. But then doing what we need to do to deliver good stories to kids.

STEVE WACKER
What we're able to do is, because we have so many more hours of storytelling, get deeper into the Marvel Universe, so at the end of the day our shows are sort of a hybrid of where the movies are - because that's what people recognize - and then go deeper into the Marvel Universe from comics or even television.

CORT LANE
Our link to the feature universe is really through Joe Quesada, our Chief Creative Officer, who touches all sides and can lead us in a direction if we're going to do something that is so very different from the movies. But we had started on this animated series and development and production long before the second Guardians film, so this show comes right out of the first movie. Even just looking at the script for that first movie was magic.

STEVE WACKER
That was really all we had when we started, the script. We started before we'd even seen a screening of anything. The different worlds aren't meant to be perfectly aligned. Just as an audience member for any of these entertainments, you're meant to be able to come in and understand generally where you are. But, from TV to movies to animation, it all gives you a different sense of the world.

ERIC RODOMSKI
(Co-Executive Producer)
The movie has really given us a lot of inspiration and motivation for the way we approach the series. They're just strong characters. It's good fortune that we've got characters that no one has really seen or worked with to a great degree. We don't have any rules in particular; we want to stick to the personalities of the movie as we push forward, expanding them from what we saw in the movie.

STEVE WACKER
The fact that the movie was successful didn't really surprise me, because there's a track record and the audience trusts Marvel enough to at least check it out. But the level to which it permeated pop culture was amazing. The fact that my mother knows who Rocket Raccoon is, is absolutely nuts to me. I can't even wrap my head around the fact that my mother has uttered the words "Rocket Raccoon." That's highly unusual. These characters are well known now. I didn't sense it would have this kind of cultural resonance.

CORT LANE
The music was an important component of the film. I was shocked when I read the script, because the songs are actually listed in it, so I would play the songs on YouTube as I would read those pages for that scene, and I really did get goose bumps. I don't know that I predicted the level of popularity, but I certainly understood that Rocket and Groot would become really popular characters with kids, and I knew the audience would love it and be really surprised by it.

STEVE WACKER
Cort hit on something. The music is where I sort of knew we had something super special, because the audience just had never seen the context of science fiction, out-there adventure with music that people recognize. It grounded everything so much. Music has been a big part of the development of the new series, too, as you can see from the very first episode. Cort has been the spearhead of trying to get that together.

CORT LANE
We had some classic '70s pop in the first episode. It's something very unique and different for us to do. There may not be music in every episode, but you will hear a lot of it where it makes sense. In the pilot there were two great opportunities to do that. But it has to serve story and have a great moment where we have time to do that.

STEVE WACKER
It's also the first time we're doing original songs as well. We've got a bunch of catalogue songs that are popular and that people know, and some new songs, too. Music is a big part of this show the same way it was with the film. That's one thing we're pulling over directly.

MARTY ISENBERG
(Supervising Producer)
The music was like a Christmas present. When they said they were thinking about doing that, we were, like, "Yes, please!" We've only got animation back on the first five episodes and we've seen it cut into just a couple of them, but, boy, it works so good and puts the show in such a different caliber from everything else around in kid animation. In the movie, the music does a great job at grounding this far out cosmic movie in the real world, in our world. It just does a great job of setting the tone.

PART TWO WILL BE POSTED ON WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 30, 2015

Will ha infatti raccontato:

Joe e M.A.S.K.

Guardians Of The Galaxy TV show: Cort Lane and Stephen Wacker interview

We chatted to two of the producers of Marvel Entertainment’s new Guardians Of The Galaxy animated TV series…
James Gunn’s Guardians Of The Galaxy movie was the surprise hit of 2014’s summer blockbuster season. Under the stewardship of the Slither and Super director, Marvel Studios had a major success on its hands with that one.

It was the fourth biggest Marvel Cinematic Universe film at the global box office, and its sequel – Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol.2, with Gunn back at the helm – is hotly anticipated by legions of fans around the globe. The film has even started influencing the Marvel Comics themselves, which is a pretty big stamp of approval.

With all that taken into account, then, it shouldn’t be taken as too much of a surprise that an animated show inspired by the film has come into existence as well. Cort Lane and Stephen Wacker – two of the executives from Marvel Entertainment - have overseen the project. The show is coming to UK screens on the 7th of November, via Disney XD.

We chatted to Lane and Wacker over the phone about all things Guardians…

First things first, then… When did the idea originate to bring the Guardians Of The Galaxy to TV?
Cort Lane: Early in the development of the film, there was a real sense that Marvel had something special. A year prior to the film’s release, Marvel felt confident enough to send us into development on an animated series.
So we read the script. Which was really far along at that point. It had all the songs listed. And, it really it had all the scenes. And a few extras that you didn’t see in the final film. And we started from there. So, a year prior to the film release.
As we got closer to the release, Marvel felt more and more confident. Not in a cocky way at all, but they understood that ‘wow, this really good. Audiences are gonna love this.’ And it’s very friendly to kids, too. There’s lots of fun, cool weirdness that kids are gonna love in animation as well. So, that’s how we went.
From there, how was the creative team brought together? And what was their brief like?
Stephen Wacker: Well, Cort and I - along with our head of production Erik Radomski – we had a few meeting with Joe Quesada about things we could do in the show, and the kind of show that we both wanted. I think, our first choice was… Marty Eisenberg - the guy who is our story editor. He’s worked with us on our show Hulk And The Agents Of S.M.A.S.H. along with Henry Gilroy, who helped us get the show off the ground.

It really came together pretty quickly and easily. We knew the kind of show we wanted, and we knew the tone, and those guys went away and wrote up a little treatise pitch, and they hit it right the first time. Cort, do you remember anything?
CL: The only thing I’d add is – we had the opportunity to create these shorts which helped us get the feel of the characters and spend a little extra time developing the show.

Were those the ‘Origins’ shorts [embedded above]?
CL: Yeah, that was a great opportunity. We knew starting the series that, unlike our other series like Avengers or Spider-Man, that even after the film the audience doesn’t know that much about the individual characters, other than Peter [Quill, aka Star-Lord, aka Chris Pratt’s movie character].
So the shorts gave us an opportunity to, sort of, give a little bit of the backstory. To the kids, to the viewers, who were seeing these characters coming out of the film.

Was it a tough balance to get the tone right for those kids, do you think? These guys are outlaws with dark backstories, as well as being superheroes… Is that a hard line to tread?
SW: Well, I think kids hate outlaws.
CL: [Laughs]
SW: I think the kids are going to see a lot of themselves in these characters. No kid is all good, or all bad… these characters, in Guardians, have chequered pasts, for sure. But as we see in the film, they can aim for something higher. They do have a personal quest, each of them. There’s a reason they’ve ended up like they are.
And I think their personalities are so different. That lends to conflict. And out of conflict comes character.
CL: Yeah, the flaws and the humour – that’s what makes them so relatable.

The show is already well underway in the USA, but in the UK it hasn’t started yet. What can you tease to us about where the story is going to go?
CL: Sure. The short version is that it’s an epic scavenger hunt through the cosmos. And we get to go to a lot of points along the Marvel universe. And meet a lot of interesting characters. Some of them very weird. Some of them unsavoury.
And a lot of it is tied to the past of each of the Guardians. In particular, there’s this very powerful object which is connected to Peter, and his past. And they have to get it to save the universe, of course, but everyone else wants it too.
And, along the way, we meet characters from the Guardians’ individual pasts… who may hate them. And, in Peter’s case, dated them. There’s conflict and there’s humour in that. And we get to see these characters redeem themselves.

And, from your standpoint, how do you see the film and the series to be linked?
SW: We pick up… the last scene in the film is Quill saying to the team “little good, little bad, little bit of both.” That’s where we pick up from. Now, we tell our own story. We’ve gotta do over 13-hours of animation before the next film even comes out. So, the movie's gonna tell its own story, and we’re gonna tell ours. But, we use the same launching pad. They’re not meant to be tied into one another.
I think, in terms of tone, they sit very closely to each other. We’re trying to recapture some of the magic that James [Gunn] and his crew brought to the movie. Part of that is the music that we use on the show. We’ve licensed twelve-or-so actual seventies songs. That was part of Cort’s life for a year, trying to nail down those legalities. Um, and I think the music goes a long way to help capture the spirit of the film.

Was James Gunn consulted at all? Did he help out with any advice, at all?
SW: Not directly. We work very closely with Joe Quesada [Marvel Entertainment’s Chief Creative Officer and – at the time of his retirement from the role – the longest-serving Editor-In-Chief of Marvel Comics since Stan Lee] especially. And also with [Marvel Comics publisher] Dan Buckley, who was working with Marvel Studios and relaying information back and forth.
The studio was kind enough to share with us - the script a year ahead of release, and early cuts without special effects - so we could really get the tone and voice right.

And do your writers have the freedom to bring in any Marvel characters they want, or are there quite strict restrictions?
CL: No… I mean, we have a really robust number of characters throughout the season. A lot of cosmic characters that fans will know from the Guardians books.… and also characters from other parts of the Marvel cosmos. We’ve had a lot of fun playing with them, and connecting them with our Guardians characters in the animated series.
One of the things we’ve seen in the US is that Cosmo as a character is really popular with our audience. He’s a Russian cosmonaut dog who speaks telepathically. And is pretty funny. And a final called Titus from the Nova books who is a cop gone bad from the Nova Core. And so, there’s a lot of fun to be had.
And we have The Collector in our show, and we also get to meet his brother. See the conflict that his brother creates.
SW: The restrictions on characters is where I get to be a bad guy. Because our writers want to use everybody! And, err, sometimes I have to be the one saying ‘look, we’ve got a lot of characters here… lets make sure we service them well.’
CL: [Laughs]
SW: And they burn me an effigy, I’m sure. But yeah, as the series go on, as we get into season 2… there’s no shortage of Marvel characters out there, and we’re going to be bringing in as many as possible.

And just finally before we go… One of the great things you did with the Ultimate Spider-Man show was to bring in Clark Gregg as Phil Coulson - a character who, at the time, couldn’t be linked to Spider-Man in the movies. Do you have any of that in Guardians? Are you bringing in any characters we wouldn’t normally associate with that team?
SW: Err… there is… I can’t remember if we’ve spoken about it publicly, though, Cort?
CL: [Laughs] You will meet heroes and villains, from other corners of the Marvel universe. And I think we should probably leave it at that. Because the middle of this season is an epic war between different factions in the Marvel universe.
SW: And if you’re familiar with our other films and our other animated series, you’ll recognise one of the characters.
Okay, let the speculation begin then!
SW: Good! I look forward to your comments section!
Cort Lane and Stephen Wacker, thank you very much!
