Ehhh no! E alla Disney sperano che The Rock possa fare con questo film ciò che Depp ha fatto con i Caraibi!!!

Variety says that Disney is developing a space movie based on its Tomorrowland theme park that will star Dwayne Johnson, much like how it turned the "Pirates of the Caribean" ride into a blockbuster film trilogy.

The studio has set screenwriters Jon Lucas and Scott Moore to draft an epic-sized action adventure set in space. The film is being designed as a vehicle for Johnson, who starred for the studio in family hit The Game Plan and most recently completed Race to Witch Mountain.

The trade adds that Disney denies the film has been titled Tomorrowland or is dedicated to the park's section, a futuristic area of the Magic Kingdom. The studio called the nascent project an original script.

The film would be produced by Mayhem Pictures partners Mark Ciardi and Gordon Gray, who produced The Game Plan.

While in Las Vegas promoting The Hangover, the writers of Warner Bros.' R-rated comedy, Jon Lucas and Scott Moore, told ComingSoon.net about the new project they are working on for Disney called Tomorrowland, based on the themed land at the company's theme parks.

Dwayne Johnson will star in the film as Rip, a test pilot who gets shot into the future.

Q: The original "Tomorrowland" was a 1960's vision of the future. What's the angle you're taking?

Jon Lucas: Slightly faster.

Scott Moore: Disney had such success with "Pirates of the Caribbean," they basically want to do "Pirates of the Caribbean" in space. They want it to be big, fun, adventure, comedy. Our vision of the future and whether we're successful or not is actually not retro, but what would be the coolest future?

Lucas: We're really asking you because we don't know yet. We have the script due in like a month.

Moore: I hate having to do laundry and go to the dry cleaner so I just want a closet where you throw your clothes in there and you open it up and everything is done.

Lucas: We want to do a movie that's not dystopia. I actually think the arch of human history is bending towards better things generally. Not always, but sort of. Things are better now than they were 2000 years ago. Somehow in the future like 100 years from now, everything has gotten dark and it's this horrible world. Our crazy idea is what if our future is actually good.

Moore: It's based on a Disney [themed land] too.

Lucas: Yeah, so we can't take this really dark.

The studio has not set a release date yet for the picture.

EXCLUSIVE: In its latest attempt to hatch a large-scale film that can play to a family audience, Disney has made a seven-figure deal with screenwriter and Lost exec producer Damon Lindelof to write and produce an original large-scale science fiction feature film. Other than the fact that the project has a working title of 1952, I couldn't pry plot details out of anybody. I'm not sure if the title connotes a period the film is set in, or if it is a Lost reference. I've also heard that this project isn't just being conceived for movies only, but that it has multiple platform aspirations.

The project came out of a series of meetings that Lindelof had with Disney's production president Sean Bailey and senior exec Brigham Taylor, and it's the first film that Lindelof is producing from the ground up. Since ending the run of Lost and serving as one of the show's architects all the way through, Lindelof has been on fire as a screenwriter. He teamed with Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci to script the Jon Favreau-directed Cowboys & Aliens. Lindelof came aboard to rewrite Ridley Scott's 3D Alien prequel and injected enough new ideas into the Prometheus script for Fox and Scott to deem the film an original. Lindelof is right now working with Kurtzman and Orci to pull together a Star Trek sequel that can be ready to begin production later this year or early next. I've reported my skepticism that Abrams would ever be able to move from launching Super 8 and jump into a Star Trek sequel that will make its summer 2012 release date, because the scribes need Abrams to give a thumbs up to the 70-page story outline they've written, and turn that into a script. Orci noted this in a Twitter message sent as he was heading to watch Super 8: @TrekMovie since JJ has seen super 8, maybe I can get him to read trek during the movie;). Lindelof will be engaged in that for a while, and he will start the Disney project after that. Lindelof's deal was made by CAA.

The film, which Lindelof is writing with Jeff Jensen, is a closely guarded secret at Disney, but it’s a big-scale tentpole film. I’m not sure if it’s a reference to the year, or a Lost reference. But it has multi-platform aspirations, and the studio hopes it will be the next film directed by Bird, who made the leap from animation to live action feature directing with the blockbuster Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol. The intention is to get the film into production next year, after a long prep, with Lindelof producing. Bird has been developing his own projects, including 1906.

The Lindelof deal was made last June and came out of a series of meetings that Lindelof had with Disney’s production president Sean Bailey and senior exec Brigham Taylor, and it’s the first film he is producing from the ground up. Ok...dato l'alone di mistero sulla trama, ho cercato di dare un'occhiata su Wikipedia e pare che il 1952 sia noto per una fortissima attività nucleare, con test atomici, e bombe nuclerari dagli Stati Uniti all'Europa...potrebbe trattarsi di questo...Curioso l'interesse del regista per i numeri, "1906", sul terremoto che distrusse San Francisco, era un altro progetto su cui Bird stava lavorando tempo fà...Nell'articolo si specula un riferimento al telefilm Lost con l'anno 1952...Qualcuno mi ricorda che nesso ci fosse?

Felicissimo di rivedere al più presto un film di Brad Bird! Spero non abbia a che fare con Lost perché non l'ho seguito.
Ma in questo momento, in cui i Disney Studios sono senza un presidente, questi accordi (penso anche a Graveyard Book) chi li approva?

Tempo fa era stato confermato che Brad Bird aveva un nuovo progetto in cantiere, un film prodotto dalla Disney e scritto Damon Lindelof (Lost, Star Trek, Prometheus) intitolato 1952.

A maggio, non si conoscevano altri dettagli in merito, ma Vulture ha pubblicato adesso alcune indiscrezioni su un film che, a quanto pare, potrebbe avere dei toni marcatamente sci-fi.

A quanto pare, il titolo è un riferimento a un raccoglitore di documenti Bankers Box dello stesso Walt Disney contenente i materiali relativi a vari progetti della major. Lindelof avrebbe avuto accesso a questo curioso reperto, grazie a Sean Bailey, executive dello studio. La scatola era stata impiegata, originariamente, per racchiudere i materiali del film F.B.I. - Operazione Gatto, ma poi, al posto di questo titolo, era stata apposto 1952. A quanto pare, è emerso che qualcuno stava lavorando a una pellicola riguardante degli UFO, e la data potrebbe anche fare riferimento al noto Carosello di Washington.

Non è chiara la maniera tramite la quale questo "ritrovamento" abbia ispirato Lindelof e Bird anche se viene già ipotizzata una massiccia campagna virale in stile J.J.Abrams con una caccia al tesoro che condurrà al reperimento di indizi sul progetto.

A me sembra che progetti come questo stiano davvero festeggiando l'eredità di Walt...Abbiamo Saving Mr. Banks, Magic Kingdom e ora 1952...sembra ci sia il tentativo di raccontare in maniera misterica tutto il dietro le quinte di quest'uomo e di quel che ha sviluppato...Non posso che esserne intrigato come mai ...

George Clooney is negotiating to star in Brad Bird's extraterrestrial pic "1952" at Disney.

Damon Lindelof and Jeff Jensen penned the script, which the Mouse House sees as a high-profile tentpole. Studio is keeping the plot under wraps, though the project is said to be a "Close Encounters of the Third Kind"-esque story following a man who makes contact with aliens on Earth. Lindelof also will produce.

Disney had no comment. Sources cautioned that the project is not officially greenlit, and no cast is yet set.

Bird would make "1952" his follow up to "Mission: Impossible -- Ghost Protocol," his first live action pic after helming toons like "The Incredibles," "Ratatouille" and "The Iron Giant."

Clooney will next star in and direct "The Monuments Men," which he also co-wrote with Grant Heslov, that is lining up Daniel Craig, Bill Murray, John Goodman, Hugh Bonneville, Bob Balaban, Cate Blanchett and Jean Dujardin to co-star. Project revolves around American and British art experts who go on a mission to recover artwork stolen by the Nazis during World War II.

Questo progetto è davvero intrigante... Anche se non riesco a capire in che modo avrà toni sci-fi se tratta di progetti cinematografici...

In una lunga intervista su Collider, lo sceneggiatore e produttore Damon Lindelof parla di 1952, il misterioso nuovo progetto della Disney con protagonista George Clooney e legato a un incontro tra umani e alieni.

Lindelof spiega che l'intenzione è quella di girare il film a metà del 2013 (il via libera non è ancora arrivato), e che Bird sarà anche co-sceneggiatore. Una volta definito il budget e il cast, la produzione potrà annunciare realmente di cosa tratterà la storia, che al momento è avvolta dal mistero:

Ho chiesto a Bird di dirigere il film, e ora lo sta co-sceneggiando con me da circa quattro mesi, è stata una splendida esperienza perché ogni volta che scrivi qualcosa con un nuovo partner ti senti criticato costantemente per l'uso che fai di tutta una serie di espedienti che ti eri abituato a utilizzare, e così si imparano cose nuove e si evolve.

Il film non ha ancora avuto il via libera, dicevamo, e al momento la Disney sta dando una grande libertà creativa al team:

Ci hanno dato moltissima libertà, il che è abbastanza sorprendente se pensiamo al fatto che la Disney ha un brand molto specifico cui rimanere coerente. Ma è fantastico lavorare con loro. Brad ovviamente ha la Disney nelle vene, e anche se quando era un animatore venne licenziato da loro, è bello tornare nel vecchio edificio di animazione con una storia da raccontare.

Clooney non è nuovo al genere fantascientifico. Nel 2002 ha recitato in Solaris, pellicola sci-fi diretta da Steven Soderbergh, e prossimamente sarà in Gravity di Alfonso Cuaròn accanto a Sandra Bullock.

Non sorprende visto che non ci sarà un Incredibili 2.Brad è sempre stato contro i sequel
Clooney non mi è simpatico comunque mi intriga questo progetto sopratutto dalla carta bianca della Disney sempre più verso un rating PG-13.Facendo tutti i conti possibile uscita 2015 sucederà a Maleficient

Ufficiale abbiamo la data di 1952 sarà il film di Natale 2014 della Disney. Nell'anno del Mondiale brasiliano e del capitolo finale di The Hobbit salta il Classico Disney forse per la presenza dei Muppet e quindi il film di Brad Bird sarà il film delle feste. Uscita il 19 Dicembre 2014

Si ma ha portato sfortuna a Tron Legacy . Comunque Bird punta all'Oscar esce in tempo per gli Academy Awards 2015, non per niente ha scelto un premio oscar George Clooney. La Fantascienza è un genere che può risultare un successo ma anche un tonfo clamoroso.

1952: nessuno aveva detto a Brad Bird del 3D!

Sembra che qualcuno si sia dimenticato di avvertire Brad Bird che il suo prossimo film, 1952, sarà in 3D.

Ieri sera infatti al Walt Disney Pictures ha annunciato le date di uscita di alcuni dei suoi prossimi kolossal più importanti, incluso il kolossal fantascientifico di Bird, includendo proprio quest'ultimo nella lista dei film che usciranno in 3D.

Nel comunicato, la compagnia confermava che il film, scritto da Damon Lindelof e prodotto dalla Bad Robot di J.J. Abrams, avrà come protagonista George Clooney (come rumoreggiato da tempo) e arriverà sugli schermi il 19 dicembre 2014 in 3D. Ma Brad Bird non sapeva nulla del formato (non è chiaro se l'intenzione della Disney è di girarlo in 3D o riconvertirlo), come ha scritto esplicitamente su Twitter:

Controllo dei rumor: nessuno di noi ha mai parlato di 3D.

Damon Lindelof ha voluto precisare che il film NON sarà in 3D:

Tanto per essere assolutamente chiari. 1952, diretto da Brad Bird, NON sarà in 3D. Stiamo pensando allo smell-o-vision.

A questo punto sarà interessante capire se si è trattata di una svista o se la Disney ha già deciso che, volente o nolente, 1952 verrà distribuito in questo formato. Solo ieri J.J. Abrams spiegava come la scelta di far uscire Into Darkness: Star Trek sia stata indipendente dalle sue preferenze, e sia stata dettata unicamente da motivi economici...

Se non sbaglio Bird odia la terza dimensione (tanto da non volerla in Mission Impossible) per dire la verità anche qua dentro non mi sembrava che il film veniva girato per il 3D. Mi sembra una cosa comica
