Accanto a lei, Thor e Valchiria.

Dal sito Hollywood Reporter:

How Marvel's Female Thor Can Finally Do Natalie Portman Justice

The actor will return as Jane Foster in 'Thor: Love and Thunder,' a film that draws upon one of the most acclaimed comic book runs of the decade.
One of the biggest surprises to come out of the Marvel Studios' Comic-Con panel on Saturday was the return of Natalie Portman as Jane Foster. Despite showing up at the premiere of Avengers: Endgame, a who’s who of faces from the first 11 years of Marvel Studios, it seemed Portman’s days in the Marvel Cinematic Universe were behind her after Thor: The Dark World (2013). Aside from brief mentions in Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015) and Thor: Ragnarok (2017), and a quick appearance in Avengers: Endgame, by way of unused footage from The Dark World and a new voice over that Portman recorded for the scene, it seemed safe to assume that Foster was part of the MCU’s past. But with the announcement of her return in Taika Waititi’s Thor: Love and Thunder, it seems she’ll be an integral part of the MCU’s future, and rightfully so.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has rarely seemed to know exactly what to do with Jane Foster, a key member of Thor’s supporting cast since her debut in Journey into Mystery No. 84 (1962), one issue after Thor’s Marvel debut. Thor (2011) and its sequel both updated the character’s skill set, while never really allowing Portman to find the complexities of the character beyond her relationship to Thor. Kenneth Branagh’s 2011 film made Foster an astrophysicist rather than a medical professional, giving her greater reason to be in Thor’s life, given the absence of his Donald Blake persona from the comics, but the film also saddled her with a comic relief sidekick, which never felt like a believable relationship for the character. While Foster’s study of wormholes and star-struck romance with Thor (Chris Hemsworth) was a solid place to start, further films didn’t allow her character to grow alongside her superhero counterpart. Her absence in The Avengers (2012) and Avengers: Age of Ultron also didn’t help distinguish the character as anything other than a casual love interest. For whatever complaints there are to be aimed at Iron Man 2 (2010), the film gave Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) something to do, and a prominent leadership role in Stark Industries that set the stage from the character’s evolution throughout her subsequent MCU appearances. Foster in The Dark World was a plot device for an Infinity Stone who spent most of the third act running around sticking poles into the ground. The same year Foster essentially waited at a window for Thor to return at the end of Alan Taylor’s film, Marvel Comics took to elevating the character to a new level of importance in what would become their best title.

Jason Aaron and Russell Dauterman’s work with Jane Foster in Thor and The Mighty Thor forever changed the character. Foster had become less prominent in Marvel Comics over the years, and when Aaron reintroduced her in the pages of Thor: God of Thunder, she was battling cancer – a factor that in a lesser book would have been a bookend for the character and a means to simply explore the grief of its central male character. But when Thor became unworthy and lost his hammer during the events of Original Sin (2014), Aaron made Jane Foster the new Thor with the caveat that every time she transformed into the God of Thunder her mortal body became weaker and purged the effects of the chemotherapy in her body.

Through Thor and The Mighty Thor, Aaron and Dauterman explored what it meant for an atheist to become a god, for a woman to take on the patriarchy of Asgard, and for her to consider one’s own suffering and mortality within the context of the Ten Realms. The decision to make Thor a woman of course proved controversial to some less forward-thinking comic readers, as did the decision to make Thor more than just a name, but a title. As Aaron wrote following the character’s debut “This is not She-Thor. This is not Lady Thor. This is not Thorita. This is THOR. This is the THOR of the Marvel Universe, but it’s unlike any Thor we’ve ever seen before.” And that promise was delivered upon with Jane Foster becoming a member of the Avengers, channeling the storm with Mjolnir in way expressly different from the Odinson, ending the Asgard/Shi’Ar War, and defeating the Mangog in order to save the universe. And she did all of these things not only with her god-given powers, but through asking herself if she was truly doing enough and then doing more. Jane Foster’s time as Thor is one of modern comics’ greatest epics, and while that tenure is over, with Foster having since become the new Valkyrie during the War of the Realms (2019) event, she is still carrying a solo title and proving to be far more than the love interest she was once relegated as.

Waititi, who previously revitalized Thor in Thor: Ragnarok, and assisted with his characterization in Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Endgame, revealed that Thor: Love and Thunder would be inspired by Jason Aaron and Russell Dauterman’s Eisner winning run. To that point Portman lifted Mjolnir, confirming that she would in fact assume the mantle of Thor in the film, alongside Hemsworth’s Thor Odinson.

Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige told The Hollywood Reporter after the panel that Waititi had been reading the run while making Ragnarok, and had convinced Portman to join the new movie in just one meeting.

It’s unknown if Jane’s cancer will factor into that storyline, if she’ll face down the Mangog, or if Valkyrie’s (Tessa Thompson) quest for a Queen implies Foster’s Thor will be her love interest, but there’s little doubt that Portman will get to explore sides of Foster that we haven’t seen on film before as the Goddess of Thunder. Natalie Portman’s presence in the MCU should have always been a bigger deal than it has been, and now, by way of Love and Thunder, she’ll be able to lift a role she has always been worthy of.

EXCLUSIVE: ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ Will Film Scenes In The United States

HN Entertainment can exclusively reveal that Marvel Studios is going to spend a portion of the Thor: Love and Thunder production shooting in the United States (either principal photography or scheduled reshoots).

The primary filming location is Fox Studios Australia in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia and had been announced to begin filming there sometime in August of next year.

It’s said to begin filming in Australia once Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings complete their own leg of shooting at the Aussie facility.

We can confirm that Black Panther 2 and Ant-Man 3 will also have film productions in the U.S. too. Although, those two are expected to be shot there primarily.

Taika Waititi is back to write/direct Thor: Love and Thunder.

Plot details have been locked down for the time being but a couple of character tidbits have been rolled out slowly.

Natalie Portman is returning as Jane Foster and will become Lady Thor in the sequel along with seeing Tessa Thompson’s Valkryie/King of New Asgard looking for her Queen.

Taika Waititi during the press rounds for Jojo Rabbit has given some hints of what could be in the fourth installment.

Chatting with Wired he reveals they hope to continue/top Thor: Ragnarok’s craziness.

WAITITI: “It’s going to be bigger and louder and more bombastic.”

“It’s only interesting to me if we’re doubling down on how nuts Ragnarok was.”

Taika then commented on Valkryie’s Queen potentially being fan-favorite Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel (something Tessa and Brie seemingly have been open to publicly over the last couple of months).

WAITITI: “The thing is, I think it’s dangerous for people to say too much about what they want with Marvel, because then they will tend to go the other way.”

“You want to listen to the fans to a point. But also you don’t want to have a completely fan-made film because then it doesn’t feel like there’s any point. You want to have people surprised.”

While speaking with Variety, Taika also mentioned that the breast cancer story for Jane from the comics “may” be adapted for the film.

WAITITI: “I think that’s a really powerful part of the books. I think it’s really cool that she’s fighting this thing and there’s two battles going on. Personally I really love that storyline.”

“But whether it ends up in the film is yet to be seen.”

Portman recently told Variety she would be excited to explore the breast cancer journey for Jane, but couldn’t confirm or deny if it was going to happen.

PORTMAN: “It’s just very rare that these kinds of big entertainment films look at more serious, real-life issues.”

“I really don’t know anything about it. I haven’t seen anything, but I’ve heard the same rumors as you have, and it’s exciting to think about.”

HN Entertainment first reported that Taika would be not only reprising the role of Korg in the sequel but would be getting a much larger role as well, the former recently confirmed by the writer/director while appearing on JimmyKimmelLive.

We will certainly update when we get more details on where in the States they’ll be filming.

Disney has given Thor: Love and Thunder a release date of November 5th, 2021.

News:

Exclusive: Christian Bale in Talks to Join ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’

Oscar winner Christian Bale is in talks to join Chris Hemsworth in Marvel’s Thor: Love and Thunder, Collider has exclusively learned.

Taika Waititi is returning to direct the sequel, which is gearing up to start production this summer. The follow-up to 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok is shaping up to be Bale’s first comic book movie since his final turn as Batman in 2012’s The Dark Knight Rises.

Marvel had no comment.

Tessa Thompson will reprise her Ragnarok role as Valkyrie, while Natalie Portman will return to the franchise as Jane Foster, who apparently becomes Thor in this movie. Waititi will also be back to provide the voice of Korg, who became an instant fan favorite. Marvel’s Kevin Feige will produce the comic book movie after the last Thor installment grossed $853 million worldwide. Bale’s role is being kept under wraps.

Bale currently stars in Fox/Disney’s racing drama Ford v Ferrari, which has grossed more than $200 million worldwide. He won an Oscar on his very nomination for The Fighter, and was also nominated for American Hustle, The Big Short, and Vice. He’s currently up for a SAG Award for his turn as Ken Miles in Ford v Ferrari.

Disney will release Thor: Love and Thunder on Nov. 5, 2021. You can watch Frosty interview Bale and his Ford v Ferrari co-star Matt Damon right here, or you can read up on Thor 4‘s possible inclusion of Jane Foster’s breast cancer storyline by clicking here.

Bale is represented by WME, and a representative for the actor did not respond to a request for comment.

Oscar-Winner & Former Batman Actor Christian Bale In Talks For ‘Thor: Love & Thunder’

Collider reports that former Batman actor Christian Bale is in talks with Marvel Studios and director Taika Waititi for an undisclosed role in Thor: Love & Thunder, the fourth film in the Thor franchise.

TheHollywoodReporter backed up the reporting.

His role is unknown, but normally they tend to pick the high profile actor to play the villain, fellow Oscar-winner Cate Blanchett in Thor: Ragnarok being the latest example.

There are plenty of villains left on the floor for Taika to use including Blader The Brave, Gorr, Cul Borson/The Serpent, Ulik The Rock Troll, and even Roxxon CEO Dario Agger.

If Bale joins the project he’ll join a cast that includes Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Natalie Portman as Jane Foster/Lady Thor, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, and Taika reprising the role of Korg.

Filming on Thor: Love & Thunder is expected to kick-off in August at Fox Studios Australia in Sydney, Australia once Shang-Chi & The Legend of The Ten Rings wraps filming.

Australia is currently dealing with a massive amount of wildfires which is impacting New South Wales, the Australian state where Fox Studios is located. While protecting wildlife and people’s homes are the most important thing concerning the fires, currently, there is a chance they could also impact production.

We’ll likely get a sense of what is going to happen when they announce that Shang-Chi begins shooting.

Interesting enough, Bale’s Ford v Ferrari co-star Matt Damon had a small cameo in Thor: Ragnarok playing Loki in the Asgard play of his life.

Christian’s other credits include The Fighter, The Prestige, Vice, and The Big Short.

I think we’ll all be curious to see if WandaVision, Loki, and Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness will have a direct connection to the events of this new Thor movie.

Thor: Love & Thunder is set for a release date of November 5th, 2021.

Dal sito The Illuminerdi:

CHRISTIAN BALE DEFINITIVELY CONFIRMED TO PLAY INTERGALACTIC VILLAIN IN THOR 4: EXCLUSIVE

The Illuminerdi has received concrete confirmation that actor Christian Bale will be playing an intergalactic villain in Thor: Love and Thunder.

After over a decade of filmmaking, it’s hard to surprise Marvel fans. The genre that was once thought to be “for the kids” has attracted some of the most talented actors to ever grace the screen, ranging from Cate Blanchett (Thor: Ragnarok) and Annette Bening (Captain Marvel) to Michael Douglas (Ant-Man and the Wasp) and Robert Redford (Captain America: The Winter Soldier). However, when Academy Award winner Christian Bale was announced as joining the cast of Thor: Love and Thunder, the geek and film world both raised a collective eyebrow.

Since that announcement, we have been leaving threatening voicemail messages and shaking down sources in darkly lit back alleys about the thespian’s involvement. Speculation has run wild that he could be playing a potential ally like Beta Ray Bill, or that Bale will take this opportunity to explore the dark side and be a nemesis to Thor.

Who might Christian Bale, that fine specimen, portray?” Thor wonders,
Unfortunately, we were unable to get a firm confirmation on the name of his character. But, we did get a glimpse of a Marvel Studios’ document which gave away some revealing tidbits about Bale’s role.

Apparently, Bale hasn’t been locked into the role officially yet, it appears there’s still paperwork to sign. However, he’s in negotiations to play a lead in the movie – one who is specifically stated to be the main villain of the film. We can also concretely confirm that he’s an alien species, who is described as being “otherworldly.”

CHRISTIAN BALE VILLAIN SPECULATION

Since the revelation that Bale was negotiating to be in the Thor sequel, websites have gone wild with their speculation on the nature of his role. We honestly have to leave any further narrowing down of characters up to fans at this point, since that’s all the information that we have.

However, many had hoped that Bale would be bringing the heroic Beta Ray Bill to life for the first time. This seems less likely after considering the latest information, but it’s not out of the realm of possibility that BIll is villainous at the start. On the other hand, It does seem to strain credulity to think that Bill is the main villain of Thor: Love and Thunder.

From the hero of one comic franchise to the villain of another. World domination achieved!
Previous speculative suggestions, such as Gorr the God Butcher or even Dario Agger (although he has an Earth-based origin in the comics), are certainly still in play. But don’t forget to dream big, because the description even fits Adam Warlock or the SIlver Surfer. We don’t have that intel yet, so it’s in your hands to put the puzzle pieces together for the time being. Regardless, it’s clear that this will be a role unlike any other that Bale has played, and we can’t wait to bring you even more from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Thor: Love and Thunder is set to release on November 5th, 2021. So what interplanetary villain do you think Bale will be playing? Let us know in the comment section and on social media!

Tessa Thompson Confirms Christian Bale Will Play A Villain In ‘Thor: Love And Thunder’

Valkyrie herself, Tessa Thompson has confirmed Christian Bale will be playing a villain in Marvel Studios’ Thor: Love and Thunder.

Earlier this year, reports surfaced that the Dark Knight star was in talks to join the highly-anticipated fourth film in the Thor franchise. While details on the character were not given, and still remain under wraps, fans have been speculating that Bale could play the villain.

While being interviewed on Entertainment Tonight, Tessa Thompson didn’t reveal too much but shared her excitement for the film and Bale’s involvement:

“We’re gonna have fun. We’re gonna have fun. Taika is writing, directing. Some familair faces, some new people into the mix. Christian Bale’s gonna play our villain, which is gonna be fantastic.”

Directed by Taika Waititi and co-written by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Sweet/Vicious), The film see the return of Chris Hemsworth as the titular character, along with Tessa Thompson as Valkryie, Natalie Portman makes her return as Jane Foster, it was announced at San Diego Comic-Con last year that Foster will become the Goddess of Thunder. Dal sito The Disinsider:

‘Thor: Love And Thunder’ To Feature The Guardians Of The Galaxy

A new report from Comicbook.com has suggested that the Guardians of the Galaxy will indeed appear in Thor: Love and Thunder. Old rumors have said it will be the other way around, with Thor appearing in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. It still may be true but no official word has been said.

The last time we saw the Guardians, they were on a mission to retrieve Gamora, who came from the year 2014. We all know that Gamora from the main time-line perished in order to retrieve the soul stone. Along on that trip, Thor joins the Guardians on their rescue mission.

Brandon Davis over at the site recently sat down with Guardians star, Vin Diesel to talk about his newest film , Bloodshot. The conversation then started to gravitate towards the new Guardians film, which is gearing up for production.

“I am waiting and excited for my friend James Gunn to knock this next one out of the park. He took The Suicide Squad so he’s about to embark on it. Thor will also, the director talked to me about Thor will incorporate some of the Guardians of the Galaxy. That’ll be very interesting, nobody knows, maybe I shouldn’t have said anything.”

No word on if this is true or not; however, it’s exciting nonetheless.

The Guardians roles will probably be pretty brief, due to the plot line of Jane Foster becoming Thor.

Director Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok) returns alongside stars Chris Hemsworth as the titular character, Tessa Thompson as Valkryie, and Natalie Portman, as Jane Foster, who will become the Goddess of Thunder. It is possible we will see Korg’s friend and roommate Miek too, but that has not been confirmed at this time.

Thor: Love and Thunder will begin production this Summer after Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings in at Fox Studios in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. The film is set to hit theaters on November 5, 2021.

Chris Hemsworth Says Thor: Love and Thunder Is ‘One of the Best Scripts’ He’s Read in Years

During an interview with The Philadelphia Inquirer, MCU star Chris Hemsworth shared his thoughts on the highly-anticipated Thor: Love and Thunder, co-written and directed by Oscar-winner Taika Waititi (Jojo Rabbit, Thor: Ragnarok, What We Do in the Shadows) saying, “It’s one of the best scripts I’ve read in years.”

“It’s Taika at his most extreme,” Hemsworth continued, “and at his best. If the version I read is the one we get running with, it’s going to be pretty insane.”

Thor: Love and Thunder Will Feature Aliens From the X-Men Comics

Tonight during the Thor Ragnarok Instagram live stream where he confirmed that Silver Surfer is not in Love and Thunder, Taika Waititi casually name-dropped an alien race from the X-Men comics that will be showing up in the movie.

The Starsharks, or Space Sharks, or Acanti are a race of cosmic sharks who fly through space, and they’re from the X-Men side of the universe. Created by Chris Claremont and Dave Cockrum in 1982, they’re specifically tied to the X-Men and have a big connection to the long-time X-Men villains the Brood. They even appeared an in episode of the X-Men animated series in the 90s.

Thor: Love and Thunder won’t be the first MCU property to integrate Fox stuff. WandaVision will feature SWORD, and Madripoor is rumored to appear in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. But this could be a sign of how Marvel Studios is going to start introducing the Fox stuff, obscure world-building elements that hardcore fans will notice to flesh out the universe before the big names start to show up.

Da The Disinsider

‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ Will Utilize The Same VFX Tech From ‘The Mandalorian’

Lucasfilm’s VFX unit ILM (Industrial Light & Magic) will be expanding their virtual production services, as the unit will support the production of Marvel Studios’ Thor: Love and Thunder.
Director Taika Waititi, who directed and appeared in season one of Lucasfilm’s hit Star Wars series, The Mandalorian, will now have access to the LED virtual production service known as “The Volume” a service he used on the series, for his next installment of the Thor franchise. After being designed, pioneered, and piloted at Disney’s Manhattan Beach Studios by The Mandalorian showrunner Jon Favreau for use on the Emmy-nominated series, the transformative technology will be replicated by ILM at Fox Studios Australia and Pinewood Studios UK, in addition to a second set up being built in Manhattan Beach.
Read: Taika Waititi Shares New Details and Concept Art For ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’
The technology is a major step in the movie/TV-VFX industry, as it allows productions to create realistic, immersive, and responsive sets on location. This brings worlds created in post-production to life during filming. Using hundreds of LED screens and a game engine, the VFX setting changes with the movement of the cameras and allows for the virtual creation of locations without the need of any green screen technology, and in turn will make the post-production process faster and easier.

Production on Thor: Love and Thunder is expected to begin early next year in Australia. Chris Hemsworth returns as the titular character, alongside Tessa Thompson as Valkryie, and Natalie Portman, as Jane Foster, who will become the Goddess of Thunder. Also set to return are Korg (played by Waititi) and Miek who are said to play pivotal roles in the film.

Thor 4: Natalie Portman May Have Confirmed a Major Plot Point

When Marvel Studios’ Thor: Love and Thunder was officially announced at last year’s San Diego Comic Con, Taika Waititi teased that the fourth Thor film will be drawing inspirations from Jason Aaron’s “The Mighty Thor” comics. However, Waititi understandably didn’t further elaborated on what parts of said comic’s storyline fans should expect to see in the upcoming film.

Now we may have an idea about one of the key plot details of the new MCU film, with Oscar-winning actress Natalie Portman seemingly confirming in a recent interview with Yahoo that her character Jane would also be going through cancer treatment, just like in the comics. In addition, Portman has also opened up about her current superhero training as Thor: Love and Thunder continues to prepare for its production start in Australia.

“I can’t tell you that much,” Portman said. “I’m really excited. I’m starting to train, to get muscles. If there can be all these female superheroes, the more of them there are, the better it is. I’m trying to think — it’s based on the graphic novel of ‘The Mighty Thor.’ She’s going through cancer treatment and is a superhero on the side.”

Da The Disinsider

Matt Damon Joins ‘Thor: Love And Thunder’

Matt Damon has reportedly landed in Sydney, Australia and is getting ready to film the fourth film in the Thor franchise.

News.com.au reported on his arrival earlier today.
No word on who he’s playing; however, he did play a version of Loki in Thor: Ragnarok, which portrayed Loki’s “life” in a stage play.
I doubt he comes back as theater Loki, but Taika Waititi is bold so I wouldn’t put it past him.
