Kevin Hart in Talks to Play Santa Claus in Disney's 'Dashing Through the Snow' (Exclusive)

Kevin Hart is in negotiations to star in Dashing Through the Snow, a family Christmas comedy being developed by Disney.

Will Packer, who worked with Hart on the Ride Along movies and was an executive producer on Roots, is producing with John Jacobs (Ted).

The story tells of a New York City detective who is a workaholic and has a strained relationship with his son. The only thing that may be able to repair the father-son relationship is the one true Santa Claus who has to make the man believe in Christmas magic.

Hart would play Santa.

The project is based on an original idea by Scott Rosenberg (Con Air), and Rob Burnett is writing the current draft. Liar Liar and Elf have been said to be the tonal analogues.

A search for a director is about to get underway. Kristin Burr is overseeing for Disney.

One of the town's busiest comic actors, Hart this year starred in Ride Along 2 and New Line’s hit Central Intelligence, the latter having grossed over $126 million domestically. He also has his comedy concert film Kevin Hart: What Now? currently in theaters.

Hart, who also voiced a character in The Secret Life of Pets, is shooting Jumanji, Sony’s remake of the 1995 family adventure movie that reunites him with his Central Intelligence co-star Dwayne Johnson.

He is repped by UTA, 3 Arts Entertainment and Schreck Rose.

Kevin Hart is in talks to play Santa Claus in Disney’s “Dashing Through the Snow”, Variety has confirmed.

The film is based on an original idea by Scott Rosenberg with Rob Burnett penning the script. Will Packer and John Jacobs are producing with no director currently attached.

The story follows a New York City detective who has a strained relationship with his son. The only thing that may be able to repair the father-son relationship is the one true Santa Claus who has to make the man believe in Christmas magic.

Hart and Packer have worked together since the “Ride Along” films.

The stand up-turned-movie star currently has his special “Kevin Hart: What Now?” in theaters. He was also recently seen in “Central Intelligence” opposite Dwayne Johnson, which was one of summer’s biggest comedies, bringing in more than $120 million domestically.

Hart is currently filming Sony’s “Jumanji” sequel opposite Johnson and Jack Black. He is repped by UTA and 3 Arts Entertainment.

Non si butta via niente, risorto per Disney+ ma con trama piuttosto stravolta, probabilmente l'uomo misterioso che il protagonista incontrerà sarà Santa Claus camufatto.

EXCLUSIVE: Disney has set Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Lil Rel Howery and Teyonah Parris to star in the holiday comedy Dashing Through the Snow, which Tim Story is directing. Production is currently underway in Atlanta, with the film set to bow on Disney+ next holiday season.

The film is produced by Will Packer through his Will Packer Productions, and John Jacobs through his Smart Entertainment. Story will also exec produce along with Johanna Byer, Ross Fanger and Zac Unterman. Film was penned by Scott Rosenberg.

Dashing Through the Snow tells the story of a divorced social worker for the Atlanta police department who despises Christmas due to a painful childhood memory. When sent on a call while spending Christmas Eve with his daughter, he inadvertently evokes the wrath of a local politician but meets a man who helps him understand the joy and magic of Christmas.

The movie also stars Oscar Nunez, Gina Brillon, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Ravi Patel, Marcus Lewis and Madison Skye Validum.
