Da Twitter:

Q: Is the Cruella sequel still happening? There hasn't been any update in a while

SkylerShuler: Yes, the studio is waiting for schedules to open up.

Sempre da Twitter:

Q: Is it still rumored that Taylor Swift will play the villain in Cruella 2?

Skyler Shuler: She’s going to be in it, as the villain? I’m personally not 100 on that.

- la Disney sta corteggiando la costumista Sandy Powell per il secondo capitolo di Crudelia;
- Il secondo capitolo sarà ambientato negli anni 80.

Dal sito Daily Mail:

ALISON BOSHOFF: Costume designer Sandy Powell is being wooed for Cruella sequel after BAFTAs success

Film icon Sandy Powell became the first costume designer ever to be honoured with a Bafta Fellowship on Sunday and I hear rumours that a very prestigious new project is in the offing: creating the costumes for the sequel to Cruella.

Three-times Oscar winner Powell is apparently being wooed by Disney to take on the job — and the film, again starring Emma Stone, will be set in the 1980s — which is very much Powell's era.

It would be no surprise if Disney wanted her to take on the project but at the moment the talk is only that – talk.

Her recent projects have included making the costumes for Snow White, which comes out next year; as well as working on Mary Poppins Returns, in 2018, and Disney's live action Cinderella starring Lily James.

Powell will be among the luminaries giving talks and masterclasses at The Power Of Film event in London next week (tickets are available via Eventbrite).

Director Ken Loach and actor Matthew Modine will also be taking part.

It's been put on by film-maker and publisher Charles Finch.

Jenny Beavan did the costumes for Cruella — an origin story for the 101 Dalmatians villain — and got an Oscar for her amazing designs.

Despite having a fear of speaking in public, Sandy noted that she was so 'honoured' to have been given a Bafta Fellowship.

Speaking live on stage after being presented with the award by actress Cate Blanchett, she said: 'Oh, this is overwhelming!

'A few weeks ago, I bumped into Bill Nighy on Bond Street and we discussed awards ceremonies and I expressed my fear of speeches.

'He said, 'The best ones have a joke at the beginning, something meaningful at the end, and a brief in the middle.' So, thanks Bill! Here goes. That was the amusing bit.

'It really is a huge honour to be invited to join such an incredible group of filmmakers who have received this fellowship and an even greater one to be the first costume designer.

'I am most grateful for the generosity and guidance I have received throughout my life.

'From the primary school teacher who first encouraged me to paint, the mentorship and trust that I received from Derek Jarman in my early years, and the many brilliant collaborators I've had the great fortune to work with since.'

Sandy closed out her speech by dedicating the award to those who work in the fashion industry as she rhymed off a poetic list.

She added: 'So thank you, BAFTA, I accept this fellowship on behalf of my community. The supervisors, assistants, coordinators, and PAs.

'The tailors, and cutters, the stitchers and buyers, the weavers, the knitters, the printers and dyers.

'The leather workers, the shoemakers, milliners, jewellers, the standbys, dressers, fitters and crew. In fact, everyone who makes this work possible.'

She has frequently worked with directors Martin Scorsese and Todd Haynes and won Oscars for her designs on Shakespeare in Love, The Aviator and The Young Victoria.

What’s next for Sandy Powell?
‘I wish I knew. Strangely, it’s been quite quiet on the film front. I finished Snow White in July. I also took time off to take care of my mother and do some family things. I was lucky that I could take six months. Now, I’m ready to go back to work, but there’s a deathly hush. People are waiting to see what happens with the writers’ strike. There is absolutely nothing happening. Next year I’m going to be working on a musical version of The Great Gatsby. I’ve not done theatre for ages. There was some naff newspaper article in which a journalist announced I was doing Cruella 2, which is ridiculous. I was cross because now everyone thinks I’m busy when I’m not. I am looking for work. Though, I’m picky, of course. It needs to be the right thing.’

Craig Gillespie's Update!
Breaking News my darlings
During a Recent Interview our beloved Director #CraigGillespie talked about "Cruella 2":

Among your numerous upcoming projects, are there any in particular that you are especially eager to bring to fruition?
"Cruella 2 is one of them. Yeah, I'm very excited. You know, we're really hoping that Cruella 2 will work out. And obviously, the strike has impacted that. And so we'll have to wait and see how everything lands once this is all over. But, you know, I'd love to be doing that."

So as you can read, the film production was affected due to the @sagaftra strike. The movie was expected to star production this year but as you all know The Strike stopped Hollywood. Now that the Strike is over, the movie can start! Obviously it won't happen immediately but if things go well it may start filming next year 2024! Uh,the excitement is real guys! I'll keep you updated with every news

Emma Stone Provides New ‘Cruella’ Sequel Update

It’s been well over a year since we heard anything about the planned sequel to Disney’s live-action Cruella. That changed Thursday evening when Emma Stone got asked about the future of the would-be franchise on the red carper of the Palm Springs International Film Festival.

When asked by Variety when the sequel would start shooting, Stone tried to downplay her excitement before mysteriously answering “hopefully sooner, rather than later.”

Surprisingly that wasn’t the only update she managed to provide, as she also offered a brief description on the potential story. When asked if she’s seen a script yet, Stone called Disney’s plans for the film so far simply “a work in progress.”

These are by no means any major updates, but still they provide optimistic updates about a project that has been teased since the release of the very first film.

The last we heard about the sequel there were plans for it to be a musical. Additionally, there were plans for Taylor Swift to appear as Cruella’s next nemesis. Now, keep in mind, these were ideas that were in the very early stages nearly two years ago. Considering that the careers of both Stone and Swift has grown exponentially since then, Disney fans would be incredibly lucky to see such a pairing onscreen.

Time will only tell if the film will come to fruition. Like Stone says, hopefully we find out sooner rather than later.

2021’s Cruella grossed over $222 million theatrically worldwide, and approximately $21 million on Premiere Access. The upcoming Cruella sequel, which will also bring back director Craig Gillespie and writer Tony McNamara, will be the sixth film in the 101 Dalmatians franchise, following the original animated film and its sequel, the two Glenn Close films, and Cruella.

Are you excited to see Stone return to the role? Sound off below!

Qui l'articolo su Variety:

Emma Stone Says Disney’s ‘Cruella’ Sequel Is a ‘Work in Progress’

Emma Stone tells Variety that shooting for Disney’s “Cruella” sequel will begin “Hopefully sooner rather than later.”

Stone, who plays the titular anti-hero Cruella de Vil in the 2021 live action prequel to “101 Dalmatians,” added that the follow up film is “a work in progress.”

Stone continued to offer updates on the anticipated sequel on the red carpet for the Palm Springs International Film Festival on Thursday night. When asked about revisiting the iconic antagonist, she said, “It’s a blast. She’s a blast. So yeah, we’ll see. It’s a work in progress.”

The first “Cruella” was a box office success, amassing more than $220 million at the global box office. News of a developing sequel broke only weeks after the film’s release in theaters. Stone was confirmed to return to the franchise in August 2021. Director Craig Gillespie and screenwriter Tony McNamara are also expected to return.

“Cruella” presents an origin story for the antagonist of the beloved animated movie “101 Dalmatians.” In 1970s London, a young and orphaned Cruella aspires to be a fashion designer, working under the egotistical haute couture designer Baroness Von Hellman (Emma Thompson). Joel Fry and Paul Walter Hauser round out the cast as Cruella’s longtime friends and partners in crime. Emily Beecham, Kirby Howell-Baptiste and Mark Strong are also featured in supporting roles.

In addition to starring, Stone served as an executive producer on the Disney film. The actress is currently promoting her most recent film “Poor Things,” directed by Yorgos Lanthimos. Her performance as the reanimated Bella Baxter has generated awards buzz this season; she is currently nominated for a Golden Globe for best actress in a musical or comedy film.

Watch Stone’s Variety red carpet interview below.
