Veramente in passato avevo sentito parlare di The Lone Ranger per il rilancio del western... Di questo film è la prima volta che ne sento parlare...

ABC Developing Series Based on Disney's Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

ABC is developing a series based on the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad attraction at Disney Parks worldwide, says The Hollywood Reporter.

The drama, to be titled "Big Thunder Mountain," will be co-written by Fast & Furious' Chris Morgan and Ice Age: Continental Drift's Jason Fuchs. The site says that other details about the project are being kept under wraps.

Here's how Disney Parks describes the attraction:

Thunder aboard a runaway mine train on a fast-paced thrill ride through the barren landscape of the Old West. Get ready for the time of your life, because Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is "the wildest ride in the wilderness"!

The Adventure

Twist through desert canyons, dash under creaking mine shafts and venture deep into pitch-black caverns overrun with screeching bats. Rumble past falling boulders, gushing waterfalls, playful wildlife and abandoned mining settlements, as you weave through burnt orange rock spires, arches, canyons and windswept gorges. Just when you think your adventure is at an end, an unseen force seems to push you forward up and over the next hill.

The Legend of Big Thunder Mountain

While you wait to board your train, your surroundings appear tranquil and picturesque, but you sense that something otherworldly is amiss.

Folklore tells of mysterious rumblings and strange noises emanating from the depths of the 104-foot-tall Big Thunder Mountain. Iridescent stalagmites and stalactites pulsate with eerie light deep below ground. Native American tales claim that supernatural forces will unleash the power of thunder upon those who dare to remove gold from the mountain

Undaunted, the Big Thunder Mountain Mining Company has begun to mine the site. Reports claim that mine trains sometimes mysteriously depart the station without an engineer at the throttle — driven by unseen forces.

The next train is departing now. Dare to test the legend?

Inspiration

Based on Bryce Canyon in Utah, the scenery captures the thrill, excitement and beauty of the rugged and untamed landscape of the American West.

Town of Big Thunder

The miniature town of Big Thunder that you roll past at the end of the attraction predates Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Originally named Rainbow Ridge, the town is one of several repurposed elements from the Rainbow Caverns Mine Train (later called Mine Train through Nature's Wonderland) that transported Guests around Frontierland from 1956 to 1977.

This weekend is your last chance to take a spin on Disneyland’s Big Thunder Mountain Railroad before it goes down for a major refurbishment and changes which will last through most of the year. The high-speed, Tony Baxter designed, roller coaster will benefit from a full reconstruction of the track, a reconfiguring of the load/unload station, and a rebuilding of the iconic Rainbow Ridge townscape facing the queue. Included in the refurbishment will be key story elements which are part of a new television series based on the attraction.

curioso ...davvero attendo di conoscere come intendano sviluppare questa serie! In effetti, con l'avvento del nuovo potenziale franchise su the Lone Ranger, col suo west che include, tra l'altro, una rocambolesca sequenza con un treno, la vedevo davvero difficile la scelta di fare ancora un film a tematica western in casa Disney...

Twilight writer Melissa Rosenberg, executive producer/showrunner of ABC/ABC Studios’ upcoming drama series Red Widow, has boarded another ABC/ABC Studios drama project as showrunner, pilot Big Thunder. Rob Bowman (Castle) is directing the pilot, written by Jason Fuchs. Based on Disney’s Big Thunder Mountain roller coaster ride, Big Thunder centers on a brilliant, late 19th century New York doctor. He and his family are given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to relocate to a frontier mining town run by a powerful, but mysterious tycoon but quickly realize that not everything in Big Thunder is as it seems. For Rosenberg, the gig stems from the overall deal she signed with ABC Studios for her Tall Girls Prods. in October. She executive produces Big Thunder with Fuchs and Chris Morgan. Red Widow, which UTA-repped Rosenberg adapted from the Dutch series Penoza, premieres March 3.

Non è affatto detto sai ... Il telefilm sa molto di "La Signora del West", ma se ci aggiungiamo storie di fantasmi in salsa western, leggende indiane ed effetti speciali fantasy, il film potrebbe essere davveeero interessante ...Melissa Rosenberg ha scritto i vari Twilight, qualcosa in materia di young adult fantasy saprà ...poi quei film possono piacere o meno, ma il successo parla da solo ...Ps per dovere di cronaca, non è la Rosenberg a far pietà, ma la tanto vituperata Stephenie Meyer...La Rosenberg ha fatto quel che poteva adattando i suoi romanzi, col testo che aveva in mano non poteva far miracoli e soprattutto con gli ""attori"" che aveva di fronte!! ... è paragonabile a Linda Woolverton, una professionista che ha reso i film anche meglio dei romanzi, secondo il mio modesto parere naturalmente ...

Okay, Big Thunder is dumb. Duuuumb dumb dumb dumb dumb. But … compellingly so. It's set in the late 1800s, and a family of New Yorkers — doctor dad, loving mom, sulky teen daughter, asthmatic young son — moves to a mining town that turns out to be haunted/cursed by some kind of mountain spirit. The show needs to be on mega-high alert that its portrayal of Apache people not veer into exhausting, dehumanizing clichés, but as long as it avoids that, there's no reason Big Thunder couldn't work as a lead-out for the cheesecake Once Upon a Time.

Qui c'è uno spirito che "maledice", non sono TUTTI gli abitanti affetti da un sortilegio come in OUAT, gli abitanti poi sono comuni cittadini, non certo personaggi fiabeschi, l'elemento fantasy non è così connaturato in città insomma ... per me qui siamo di fronte a ben altra roba, più vicino alle atmosfere di una puntata di Scooby Doo che altro, ma spero sia eseguito senza quell'elemento demenziale e camp

PS: è chiaro che la cornice al film e alla città sarà la montagna di Big Thunder, tuttavia dato l'ovvio collegamento con l'attrazione di Frontierland, spero che l'elemento del treno abbia una forte valenza nel serial, voglio dire, dopotutto, nell'immaginario collettivo il trenino maledetto è ciò che principalmente contraddistingue Big Thunder Mountain, non certo la montagna di canyon, con le miniere pericolanti, quelle sono altrettanto importanti, ma vengono subito dopo....Un pò come per Pirates of the Carribean, prima ci sono i pirati e loro vascelli, poi le isole dei Caraibi ...

Stavo ragionando su un punto...E' chiaro che questo topic andrebbe spostato, perchè di serie televisiva si tratta, quindi poco c'entra con i film Disney, il pilot se tutto andrà bene verrà girato e trasmesso sulla ABC, come Once Upon a Time...Tuttavia è lungi dall'essere programmato come serie a puntate, magari può pure floppare e manco venire serializzato....Che dite amministratori, lo teniamo qui oppure nella sezione Universo Disney oppure in Oltre Disney?...A proposito, meglio rinominare il topic con "Big Thunder Mountain - Serie TV", anche il sottotitolo Walt Disney Pictures andrebbe modificato ...

Sisi, scusa non mi sono spiegato bene... intendevo che in questa sezione (non so per quale motivo) riportiamo solo film (di qualsiasi natura essi siano anche rumor, cancellati, morti, resuscitati) e corti, non serie tv. Le serie (tipo quella dello S.H.I.E.L.D.) sono in Universo. Ora io ricordavo che anche li c'era una discussione sulla serie di Big Thunder ma mi sbagliavo. Io non rinominerei o cancellerei questo topic anche solo per esigenze di archivio XD.
Ti consiglio di aprire un nuovo topic in Universo (anche se li purtroppo è un casino... è un mescolone di tutto e la roba si perde facilmente )...

Il motivo per cui non esiste una sezione per parlare delle serie tv Disney di spessore, è che la Disney per una questione di nome del canale di trasmissione (ABC) non le firma e quindi viene poco spontaneo. Ma il solo motivo per cui Once Upon a Time, Scrubs, Alias e Lost non vengono discusse in sezioni Disney è solo perché...non si sa che sono Disney. E va corretto.
