It's a Small World) HAVE A MAGICAL DAY!

Box Office Mojo got a chance to talk to Walt Disney Pictures Chairman Dick Cook and asked him about the Jungle Cruise movie, which will be based on the Disneyland ride much like the "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise is. Here's a clip from the article: There will be a family involved. The skipper will play a very important role. He'll be more of an Indiana Jones kind of guy, with a little Jack Sparrow in him, who's going to be able to take this family on an adventure that they never dreamed they were going to be on when they first got on board. In true Disney fashion, it will definitely have the adventure and the intensity—but also the heart and the fun. We hope we have a good outline of where we want to go and what we want to do with it in the next year. thanks to giagia |

Disney Teaming Toy Story Tandem Tom Hanks And Tim Allen For 'Jungle Cruise'
By MIKE FLEMING EXCLUSIVE: After Toy Story 3 cracked the billion dollar worldwide gross mark and got a Best Picture nomination for Disney, I'm told the studio is making moves to pair stars Tom Hanks and Tim Allen in Jungle Cruise, the live action film inspired by the venerable Magic Kingdom theme park ride. The studio has hired Roger S.H. Schulman to write a script that's being produced by Mandeville's David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman, who themselves are coming off a Best Picture nomination for The Fighter. No director yet, I'm told. Schulman has written on such films as Shrek and Jungle Book 2. Disney has been trying to get Jungle Cruise out of dry dock for several years, but the combination of Hanks and Allen in a family film makes this the equivalent of an E-ticket for a family-themed film. Hanks just direct Larry Crowne, starring with Julia Roberts and producing with Playtone partner Gary Goetzman. Hanks also is attached to another family film project based on the Mattel toy Major Matt Mason, which Playtone is also producing at Universal. CAA reps Hanks. Allen is returning to TV for the first time since Home Improvement. It will shoot in April for ABC, through Fox Studios. WME and Messina/Baker. |

Dal sito Forbes.com: Jungle Cruise with Dwayne Johnson set to star and John Requa and Glenn Ficarra writing. [...] The Jungle Cruise will, of course, be based around/on the famous (and terrific) theme park attraction, so we’ll see if they use the freedom of that source material to tell a genuinely original story with iconic characters and get another Pirates of the Caribbean out of it. |

Da The Hollywood Reporter
Dwayne Johnson's 'Jungle Cruise' Is a Go at Disney (Exclusive) The Rock will star and also produce the adventure project with Dany Garcia, the co-CEO of the duo’s Seven Bucks Productions banner. Welcome to the jungle, Dwayne Johnson. The actor has closed a deal to star in Jungle Cruise, Disney’s live-action adaptation of its iconic theme park ride. Johnson has found room in his busy schedule, slotting the movie in for a spring 2018 start of production. Johnson will also produce the adventure project with Dany Garcia, the co-CEO of the duo’s Seven Bucks Productions banner and who counts Baywatch, Ballers and the Jumanji re-imagining among her credits for 2017. Beau Flynn, Johnson’s frequent collaborator who has worked with the actor on movies such as San Andreas, is also in negotiations to produce via his Flynn Picture Co. shingle. Jungle Cruise is one of the Disneyland’s original rides and takes park-goers on a journey through a range of leafy settings such as Africa’s Nile and Congo rivers as well as South America’s Amazon. Cruise has had Johnson attached since 2015, but the project was still in deep development and went through several drafts by several writers (J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay wrote the most recent draft) while Johnson filmed movies such as Central Intelligence and Sony's Jumanji re-imagining. With the script looking more solid, Johnson was ready to slot it into his schedule. The actor begins shooting Rampage, New Line’s creature feature video game adaptation, later this spring. His high-rise adventure movie Skyscraper will shoot in China in late summer and fall. After a short breather, and with Jumanji opening in December, Cruise will be next on the docket. All will fly the Seven Bucks flag. A search for a director who can navigate the crocodile-infested waters is now underway. John Davis and John Fox of Davis Entertainment are also producing. Johnson is repped by WME, the Garcia Company and Gang Tyre. |
