Un altro adattamento in live action di un classico animato firmato Disney.

Questa volta si tratta di Winnie The Pooh: Deadline rivela oggi che la compagnia ha incaricato Alex Ross Perry, sceneggiatore e regista del film Listen Up Philip, di scrivere la sceneggiatura di un film live action tratto dal classico di A.A. Milne già portato al cinema più volte con lungometraggi animati di successo. La storia sarà incentrata su un Christopher Robin già adulto e al suo ritorno alla Foresta dei Cento Acri.

Al momento non sono noti altri dettagli sul film: vi terremo aggiornati!

Non ho più parole... invece che andarci cauti, basta che due live action portino incassi generosi che subito ne annunciano altri a sproposito e senza il minimo riguardo! a questo punto non so più cosa pensare! capisco che è un'azienda che recentemente regna sovrana e guadagna a livello stellare, ma un pò di buon senso non guasterebbe.. nell'arco di un solo mese ne hanno già annunciati tre!

When it was announced earlier this year that indie filmmaker Alex Ross Perry would be writing a live action Winnie the Pooh for Disney, there were quite a few surprised reactions. Even Perry himself knows he’s not the ‘traditional’ choice to write a live action rendering of the classic. The writer/director specializes in the confounding intricacies of adult relationships: Queen of the Earth, Listen Up Phillip, The Color Wheel – none of which prepare you for a foray into the world of stuffed teddy bears and honey; but in speaking with the filmmaker this past weekend at the Los Cabos International Film Festival, a children’s film was exactly what he had hoped to do next.

“I had been talking about a children’s property I was interested in, which of course seems surprising to everyone,” Perry stated, “It was just one of the things after Listen Up Phillip that I said to people that I care about. Nothing happened with [the children’s adaptation]; but eight months later, [my agent] randomly called me and said ‘Hey I was on the phone with someone at Disney and they’re trying to get [Winnie the Pooh] going. Do you want to talk with them about it? It’s similar to the thing you were trying to do before.’ I said, ‘Yeah – I will earn that job. I will earn that job the minute they talk to me.”

Ross Perry has up-to now written only his own original material; Winnie the Pooh will be his first stab at writing for pre-existing characters. “I’m learning now about writing in a voice of something you didn’t create” he confides, “There’s eight animal friends in the movie and each one has a specifically distinctive voice that everybody remembers exactly the way it is. So it’s different…”

I press if he’s attempting to recapture those same voices or put his own specific spin on it. Perry answered succinctly – “You can’t give people a movie that is different from what they remember otherwise they’ll hate it.” The eight characters will “represent the part of the story they represent”; but Perry is quick to add – “Everything else is new.”

Tonally – Alex Ross Perry seems to be going for a more somber take on the children’s classic. I ask what films he’s looking to – and he reveals it’s not necessarily a children’s film that has inspired him. “There’s a lot inspired by the relationship between David and Teddy in AI” Perry explains, “That’s not really a children’s film at all. Crushingly depressing. But the relationship between human and toy bear in that movie is pretty spot on. And Fantastic Mr. Fox is something I’ve been talking about and thinking about because it has a lot of characters and each one is pretty distinct. It’s a fun movie and it works for a four year old and for a thirty year old. But David and Teddy in AI is the relevant model.”

Ross Perry continues – “We’re looking at Toy Story a lot because that’s a thing about toys that are alive just as Pooh Bear and his friends are all stuffed animals. Those films are all emotionally satisfying and classy and clever in a really sophisticated way. Last time when I was out at Disney, we watched forty minutes of Regarding Henry. That’s part of where our heads are at with this type of movie. Holiday was also a film we talked about a lot for some reason. It’s all pretty surprising.”

Besides Winnie the Pooh, Disney has a number of live action adaptations currently in the works. Jon Favreau’s Jungle Book and David Lowery’s Pete’s Dragon are set for release next year and Bill Condon’s Beauty and the Beast will follow in 2017.

Robin has grown out of the joyful imagination he had as a young boy and is now a businessman who prioritizes work over his wife and daughter. With his home life on the brink, the last thing his life needs is the return of Pooh, who needs his help in finding his friends again. Robin has to find a way to help both sides or risk losing everything he holds dear.

The project is described as having strong elements of magical realism as it seeks to tell an emotional journey that is combined with a heartwarming adventure.

Overseeing for the studio is Kristin Burr.

Forster has had a varied directing career, helming acclaimed indies, such as Monster’s Ball, to high-profile adaptations, such as The Kite Runner. He’s also tackled big tentpoles with the James Bond movie Quantum of Solace and Brad Pitt’s zombie movie, World War Z.

Forster also stepped into, tangentially, Disney territory when he directed Finding Neverland, his 2004 drama that focused on Peter Pan creator J.M. Barrie.

The soft-spoken yellow teddy bear’s history at the company dates back to the first theatrical short film Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree, which was supervised by Walt Disney himself in 1966. Two more shorts followed and eventually all three were released to theaters as 1977’s The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. An additional pair of theatrical shorts in the ’80s were later joined by several TV series, eight direct-to-DVD movies, and four more traditionally-animated theatrical features, the last of which was the 2011 Winnie the Pooh which had disappointing box office receipts.

Christopher Robin joins a long list of live-action remakes by Disney of their classic animated films, including the previously-released Cinderella in 2015, this year’s The Jungle Book and Pete’s Dragon, plus next year’s Beauty and the Beast as well as the upcoming The Lion King, Mulan, Dumbo, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Snow White and more

Spotlight writer Tom McCarthy has joined the Disney‘s Christopher Robin film. He’ll be re-writing a script by Alex Ross Perry (Listen Up Philip), according to Empire. The film is the latest addition to the live-action versions of Disney classics like the upcoming Beauty and the Beast starring Emma Watson and Dan Stevens. The film, directed by Marc Forster (Finding Neverland, Quantum of Solace) has a grown up version of the Winnie the Pooh character who’s adult life has caused him to lose the joy he had as a young man. Pooh pays the adult Christopher Robin a visit to remind him of the magic of the Hundred Acre Wood.

The character of Christopher Robin, as well as his friends Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Piglet, Kanga, Roo, Eeyore, Owl and Rabbit were created in A.A. Milne’s books “Winnie the Pooh” in 1926 and “The House at Pooh Corner” in 1928. Christopher Robin was named for Milne’s son. The books were illustrated by E.H. Shepard.

Disney obtained the rights to the characters back in 1961 and has produced television series and films like The Tigger Movie (2000), Piglet’s Big Movie (2003), Pooh’s Heffalump Movie (2005), and Winnie the Pooh (2011). (The hyphens in the name Winnie-the-Pooh were dropped by Disney.) McCarthy won the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay along with his co-writer Josh Singer for Spotlight back in 2016. He also directed the Best Picture-winning film. He recently directed the upcoming Netflix series 13 Reasons Why, which will premiere on March 31.

Yet another major Disney feature is heading to film in Britain, joining Aladdin, Mary Poppins Returns and Dumbo in the studio’s current crop of UK-based shoots.

Christopher Robin is reportedly an original live-action story which re-visits the little boy at the heart of the Winnie the Pooh tales when he is a work-driven businessman who has long lost the joyful imagination he enjoyed as a child.

Marc Forster (pictured, World War Z, Quantum of Solace) directs from a screenplay by Alex Ross Perry with Brigham Taylor among the producers.

The UK team is not quite in place yet but we will be publishing the names of key hires on Production Intelligence once active pre-production is underway, so PI subscribers should follow Christopher Robin to receive email alerts as things progress.

The US studio giant is also working on Cruella, centring on every canine’s nemesis from 101 Dalmatians, Cruella de Vil, but this has been pushed back a little.

The Jungle Book producer Brigham Taylor is producing the project.

McGregor was most recently seen in Danny Boyle’s T2 Trainspotting and Disney’s live-action Beauty and the Beast with Emma Watson. He stars in the third season of FX’s hit Fargo, which premiered April 19, playing twins Emmit and Ray Stussy. He’s also attached to Drake Doremus’ next film Zoe, with Lea Seydoux. He’s repped by UTA, United Agents in the UK and Sloane Offer.

Schroeder wrote the script for Fox’s hit film Hidden Figures, which was nominated for three Oscars, including best adapted screenplay. She is repped by Verve and Good Fear Film + Management.

Pre-production is underway on Christopher Robin, the latest Disney live-action feature to film in the UK.

The film revisits Christopher as a work-driven businessman who has lost the joyful imagination he enjoyed as a child.

Alex Ross Perry has written the screenplay which will be directed by Marc Forster (pictured) with Brigham Young among the producers.

Disney is a prolific investor in the UK film production landscape – the studio is in production on Mary Poppins Returns, in pre-production on Dumbo and Aladdin, and a few months ago completed The Nutcracker and the Four Realms. Star Wars: Episode IX is also gearing up to begin principal photography in the UK.

Recent figures released by the BFI illustrated the impact of inward investment on UK film production spend with the total for Q1 of this year hitting a record £652m, of which a whopping £620m came from international projects.

Reps for the actress had been speaking with the studio as of last week, but talks did not progress from there.

“Christopher Robin” follows Disney’s ongoing model of taking animated classics from its archives and giving them a live-action spin, centering on Robin (McGregor), the little boy from the “Winnie the Pooh” series, who is now all-grown-up and lost all sense of imagination. Pooh and his friends reenter Robin’s life to help him find it once again. Atwell will play Robin’s wife.

Brigham Taylor is producing the project. “Hidden Figures” scribe Allison Schroeder is penning the script.

Disney has found a reliable strategy in making live-action hits based on characters from its animated IP, with “Beauty and the Beast” most recently garnering big box office numbers. The live-action adaptation of the Oscar-winning 1991 movie is currently the highest-grossing film of the year at both the domestic and worldwide box office.

Atwell and Disney have a strong relationship, dating back to Atwell’s first appearance as Agent Carter in Marvel’s “Captain America: The First Avenger.” The character was so popular that ABC, owned by Disney, made an “Agent Carter” spinoff series, which was canceled last year despite critical acclaim.

Atwell also played Cinderella’s mother in Disney’s 2015 remake of “Cinderella,” one of the studio’s first successes in turning its animated classics into live-action blockbusters.

Following the end of “Agent Carter,” Atwell has moved on to another high-profile TV show. She’s set to star in Starz and BBC’s “Howards End” miniseries, which is currently filming.

Disney’s latest feature to set up a UK shoot has begun principal photography at a major studio.

Cameras started to roll around ten days ago on Christopher Robin, starring Ewan McGregor and Hayley Atwell.

Marc Forster is at the helm to direct the film which is said to be centred on the character of Christopher Robin as an adult who, as a work-driven businessman, has lost his sense of imagination – until he is re-visited by his childhood pals from The Hundred Acre Wood.

The feature is produced by Brigham Taylor, whose recent credits include The Jungle Book, directed by Jon Favreau.

Production Intelligence subscribers have been following Christopher Robin on the site since we first listed it in March. We have since updated with details of the key UK crew involved and the studio.

Disney has chosen the UK for several of its live-action reboots over the last few years, a move which looks set to continue as projects such as Guy Ritchie’s Aladdin and Tim Burton’s Dumbo are booked into major studios for months to come.

Disney is one of many inward investors responsible for making up £880m of the overall feature film production spend of £982m in the UK from January-June this year, according to recent figures from the BFI.

Disney Casts Piglet For Live-Action 'Christopher

Perhaps the most lovable member of the Hundred Acre Wood is the jittery Piglet, and the fan-favorite role has now been cast for live-action.

In Disney's upcoming Christopher Robin, Piglet will be played by Nutcracker and the Four Realms actor Nick Mohammed (via Tracking Board). Mohammed joins a talented cast that includes Brad Garret (Eeyore), Ewan McGregor (Christopher Robin), Haley Atwell (Christopher Robin's wife Evelyn), Bronte Carmichael (Christopher Robin's daughter Madeline Robin), Mark Gatiss (Robin's boss Giles), Roger Ashton-Griffiths (Ralph Butterworth), and Jim Cummings, who will reprise the role of Winnie The Pooh.

The film will revolve around McGregor's Christopher Robin, who is all grown up now with a family, leaving the Hundred Acre Wood in his past. It won't remain there though, and that will open the door for a reunion between Robin and beloved characters like Winnie The Pooh, Rabbit, Tigger, Eeyore, and Piglet.

What exactly draws Christopher Robin to his old stomping grounds is unknown, but it might have to do with his family tiring of his workload, seemingly brought on by his unwavering boss Giles. It seems like Winnie The Pooh and crew might just be the thing Christopher Robin needs to realize what really matters in life, right?

In addition to Nutcracker, Mohammed also featured in the critically lauded The Martian, as well as Uncle, Bridget Jone's Baby, The Last Dragonslayer, and Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie. He is currently filming the television mini-series Collateral.

The screenplay for Christopher Robin is being written by Allison Schroeder (Hidden Figures) and will be directed by Marc Foster (World War Z/Quantum of Solace).

Christopher Robin joins the rapidly expanding line of Disney live-action films, which aside from one or two misses have all hit the mark both critically and commercially. Disney's last live-action project, Beauty and the Beast, cleaned up at the box office. On a budget of $160 million, Beauty and the Beast brought in over $504 million domestically with a worldwide total of over $1.2 billion.

Disney also has live-action adaptations of properties like The Lion King, Aladdin and Mulan in development, and is working on sequels to hits like Maleficent and the Jungle Book, which is already in development with director Jon Favreau attached.

For a while, many were wondering what this film would be. Disney’s CHRISTOPHER ROBIN Finds Their Tigger, Rabbit, And Owl!

With production still ongoing with Disney’s live-action reimagining of Winnie The Pooh, we haven’t heard much on the voice cast until now.

Chris O’Dowd (Bridesmaids) will takeover as the voice of Tigger (which was voiced by Jim Cummings for over 30 years).

Peter Capaldi (Doctor Who) will voice Rabbit.

Toby Jones (Captain America: The First Avenger) will voice Owl.

Marc Forster (Finding Neverland) is directing the movie, which stars Ewan McGregor as the title character, the little boy from the Winnie the Pooh series who’s now all grown up and has lost his sense of imagination. Thankfully, Pooh and his friends re-enter Robin’s life to help him find it once again. Hayley Atwell (Agent Carter) will play McGregor’s wife, while Bronte Carmichael (On Chesil Beach) will play their young daughter. Mark Gatiss, who plays Mycroft Holmes on the hit BBC series Sherlock, will play McGregor’s boss, who keeps him working long hours that take a toll on his family.

The rest of the voice cast includes Jim Cummings who will once again voice Pooh, with Brad Garrett voicing Eeyore, Nick Mohammed (The Martian) voicing Piglet, and Sophie Okonedo voicing Kanga.

Christopher Robin hits theaters on August 3, 2018.

In the film, Christopher Robin, played by Ewan McGregor, has grown up and lost his sense of imagination. Winnie the Pooh re-emerges in Christopher Robin’s life to help him find it again. The film takes place in 1940s London when Christopher returns home from World War II. Christopher works for a luggage company. Though going through a troubling time, Christopher decides to help Pooh find his way back to the Hundred Acre Wood and find the rest of his friends. The majority of the film is set in the Hundred Acre Woods, however the film does take us to London a handful of times. Hayley Atwell and Ewan McGregor are motion captured during the beginning to make them look younger.

The Hundred Acre Wood appears to have been shot in Ashford Forest in Sussex, England, the real-world location where the Winnie the Pooh books are set. As for the Hundred Acre Wood characters, they are all normal-sized stuffed animals, who talk and move around. Pooh and the gang retain their iconic looks we’ve come to know and love, with a hint of the classic designs from author A.A. Milne’s books. Pooh has his red shirt, Roo has blue shirt, and Piglet has his classic green sweater with a red scarf. The only exceptions are Owl and Rabbit, who are actual living, breathing animals, as opposed to toys.

Nel nostro Paese sarà quindi: Ritorno al bosco dei 100 acri.
Adattamento italiano che invero poteva anche evitarsi ma che, onestamente, a me personalmente piace parecchio anche si "omologa" un po' troppo col film animato del 2011.
P.S.: Scopro che l'adattamento italiano va in omonimia con un libro sulle vicende dell'orsetto scritto da David Benedictus!

Io invece il titolo lo boccio. Se il film si intitola Christopher Robin non vedo perché chiamarlo in un altro modo, e il film non c'entra praticamente nulla con l'omonimo libro di Benedictus.

Credo che il cambio titolo corrisponda anche al volersi distaccare dal quasi omonimo "Vi presento Christopher Robin" uscito qualche mese fa e già disponibile per l'home video.

Modificato il sottotitolo con l'indicazione del titolo in italiano. Al massimo tra qualche settimana lo cambiamo proprio nel titolo del topic

Concordiamo con Alessio/Daydreamer. Il titolo è anche messo per distanziarlo dal film appena uscito. In un modo o nell'altro dovevano trovare una soluzione.
Tra l'altro se è stato accettato un titolo come Frozen - il regno di ghiaccio che nulla significa in italiano rispetto a quanto raccontato nel film (né richiama la fiaba classica) ed è stata una vera frattura con la tradizione italiana che vedeva i titoli sempre tradotti (tranne i casi in cui il titolo riprendeva il nome del protagonista), perché non accettare "Ritorno al Bosco dei Cento Acri"?

Diciamo che la parola "Ritorno" è di per sè un cliché nei sequel / remake / reboot... Speravo in un pochino più di originalità, soprattutto a così (relativamente) poca distanza da Mary Poppins Returns, ma apprezzo lo sforzo.

Disney’s new feature about Christopher Robin, the boy who inspired the much-loved Winnie-the-Pooh books, filmed on location in London.

The film depicts the grown-up Christopher, played by Ewan McGregor, as a man who has lost his imagination – until he is revisited by his old stuffed bear friend from childhood.

Merrick Square in Southwark was used as Christopher Robin’s home in the film, with a tree in Merrick Square Gardens ‘playing’ a magical tree that takes the characters between London and the Hundred Acre Wood.

The scene in the trailer in which McGregor is talking to Pooh Bear in the garden square was filmed over four days last September with around 150 cast and crew involved.

FilmFixer manages the film office service for several boroughs inluding Southwark, Lambeth, Haringey and Camden. FilmFixer CEO Karen Everett said: "Christopher Robin’s home, set in Merrick Square, saw many scenes filmed as he, his wife played by Hayley Attwell, daughter played by Bronte Carmichael, Pooh Bear and his friends from The Hundred Acre Wood, arrive and leave the house, walking or cycling through the square.

“Scenes filmed inside the private gardens at Merrick Square are extremely picturesque and sweet. This is where Christopher Robin’s tree transports the characters between London and Hundred Acre Wood."

Nearby Trinity Church Square also features in the film and the area around Morocco Street in Southwark was used for LIDAR scanning (making a 3D digital model) – seen in the film with Pooh and his friends running through the street.

Around 200 cast and crew were at the Old Hornsey Town Hall in Haringey last August to shoot interiors for the 1950s-set film.

Io l'ho visto oggi....e l'ho AMATO. Vi farò comunque sapere i miei pareri nel dettaglio prossimamente.
Il mio consiglio è quello di recuperarlo il più presto possibile nelle sale: non essendo stato pubblicizzato poi molto (chiaramente vogliono spingere più "Ant Man" e "Gli Incredibili 2") e non essendo l'Italia affezionata tanto quanto altri paesi all'orsetto di Milne, non penso che resterà a lungo in programmazione. Non perdetevelo, non ve ne pentirete!
