Tweet di The Rock

.. (I think the lady to my right is snapping a pic of my bootaaaay) Surprise! Once I committed to our Disney partners to make the movie based off the JUNGLE CRUISE ride, I wanted to dive head first into the research. So I headed to Walt Disney World and surprised tourists by commandeering the JUNGLE CRUISE boat. It was a GREAT day on the river. Learned a lot.. for example, it takes approximately 12.6 minutes for all the passengers to get over the shock of me jumping on the boat and thinking I'm a DJ look-a-like. One passenger even said, "Oh the real Rock is much smaller than this guy". I threw his ass off the boat. Jokes aside (and yes, with me as the Cruise Skipper there will be an abundance of puns) this is such an amazing, fantastical and cool world to build out. Best part about this surprise research day was knowing how FUN of an experience we're gonna work hard to create for families around the world. That's the part that gets my excited the most. The movie. The ride. The experience. It's the cruise of a lifetime. And trust me, you'll want me as your Skipper. Just don't forget to bring the Skipper's beer. Next step... we find our visionary director. #SurpriseAroundEveryCorner #ResearchDay #DisneyWorld #AllAboard #JungleCruise

Da Deadline

Jaume Collet-Serra To Direct Dwayne Johnson In ‘Jungle Cruise:’ No ‘Suicide Squad 2’

EXCLUSIVE: Jaume Collet-Serra has been set by Disney to direct Dwayne Johnson in Jungle Cruise. This means that Collet-Serra will withdraw from Suicide Squad 2, the Warner Bros sequel for which he was top choice. After directing a bunch of hit movies that included last summer’s sleeper The Shallows, Collet-Serra has been poised to take that step to star filmmaker, and numerous studios chased his next slot. He decided that the opportunity to originate a new Indiana Jones-like action-adventure franchise in lockstep with one of the most globally bankable film stars — like Gore Verbinski did with Johnny Depp in The Pirates of the Caribbean — was a better opportunity than continuing a storyline originated by another director. Production will begin late next spring.

Plot details are being kept under wraps, but like Pirates, Jungle Cruise is based on the classic theme park attraction that takes guests on a guided tour through the rivers around the world. Star Trek 4‘s J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay wrote the most recent script draft. John Davis and John Fox will produce via Davis Entertainment, Beau Flynn will produce via his FlynnPictureCo. banner, and Johnson, Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia are producing through Seven Bucks Productions.

Johnson does a lot of business with Warner Bros, and let Disney and that studio work out the Collet-Serra situation. Warner Bros will quickly find another filmmaker to guide Suicide Squad 2, a sought after slot that is the sequel to the film David Ayer wrote and directed based on the DC Comics property. The original film grossed $745 million worldwide and the ensemble that includes Will Smith, Margot Robbie and Jared Leto are poised to return. Suicide Squad rejoins a number of big pictures with open directing assignments that have been the subject of jockeying among filmmakers, a list that includes the 25th James Bond movie. Deadline revealed last week that ’71 hemer Yann Demange, Blade Runner 2049‘s Denis Villenueve and Hell or High Water‘s David Mackenzie are the front runners for that job.

Collet-Serra, the Spanish director who broke into Hollywood with the genre hit Orphan, has been an under the radar hitmaker, with credits including Unknown, Non-Stop, Run All Night and The Shallows, the latter of which grossed $119 million worldwide on a $17 million budget. Non-Stop grossed $222 million worldwide for Universal. Collet-Serra most recently wrapped the Liam Neeson starrer The Commuter, which Lionsgate will release January 12. Collet-Serra is separately attached to Annapurna’s Waco, a drama scripted by Zero Dark Thirty’s Mark Boal and Kubo and the Two Strings’ Marc Haimes about the 1993 standoff between the FBI and Texas state law enforcement and the David Koresh-led Branch Davidians that turned the sleepy town of Elk, just outside of Waco, into a battle zone. A 51-day standoff ended with 76 people dead as the cult’s compound was engulfed by a raging fire.

Johnson (with producers Flynn, Garcia, Garcia along with John Rickard) recently wrapped the Brad Peyton-directed Rampage for Warner Bros and New Line, based on the Midway arcade game. That film that reunited Peyton with Johnson after the hit San Andreas. Rampage will be released on April 20, 2018. While Collet-Serra digs into the prep for Jungle Cruise, Johnson starts work in August on the Rawson Thurber-directed Skyscraper for Universal/Legendary. That film will be released July 13, 2018.

Producer Davis releases the Blue Sky Animation/Fox film Ferdinand in December and follows with Game Night for Warner Bros/New Line and the Shane Black-directed The Predator for Fox.

Scott Sheldon will oversee for FlynnPictureCo. Collet-Serra is repped by CAA, Management 360 and Gretchen Bruggeman Rush; Johnson is repped by WME and managed by Dany Garcia of The Garcia Companies

Dwayne Johnson Compares Disney's JUNGLE CRUISE Movie To INDIANA JONES

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson sheds some light on his upcoming Disney film Jungle Cruise, while making a very interesting comparison. See what the star has to say about the movie adaptation of the popular ride

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is doing the rounds this holiday season as we prepare for the release of Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. Shortly after that film's debut on December 20, Johnson will once again return to the wilderness in Disney's upcoming Jungle Cruise movie, based on the popular Disney theme park ride.

Not much is known about the Jungle Cruise movie, which got the green light earlier this year, but speaking to Entertainment Weekly, the star shed some brief details and made a very intriguing comparison. Specifically, Johnson revealed that he will star as the captain of a boat, and that the boat is on the Amazon River - two details we pretty much figured up until this point.

However, he then made a comparison that will surely intrigue many moviegoers. “[It’s] full on adventure,” Johnson added. “Think Indiana Jones — those kinds of adventures. I’m very, very excited about it.”

That's quite the comparison to make, and one that can be interpreted a number of ways. With filming set to begin in Spring 2018, we'll have to wait and see just how Indiana Jones-like the adventure will be. Though to be fair, a similar comparison could be made with Johnson's soon-to-be-released film Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, which has a more light-hearted approach to the whole tomb raiding wilderness adventure.

As for working with Disney on the project, Johnson had nothing but positive things to say about the company and Jungle Cruise.

“This is where I really started to understand the power of Disney, just in terms of the deep dives that they do with their projects — with all of their projects,” Johnson said. “Because obviously they’re a studio and publicly traded, but specifically with projects like this where it’s based off a ride and based off an beloved attraction, like Pirates [of the Caribbean], so, so much goes into the work. And it’s so exciting.”

Jungle Cruise does not yet have a release date, but we certainly have a lot to look forward to.

Disney e Emily Blunt. Una conferma.

Da Variety

Emily Blunt to Star With Dwayne Johnson in Disney’s ‘Jungle Cruise’ (EXCLUSIVE)

Emily Blunt is set to star alongside Dwayne Johnson in Disney’s “Jungle Cruise,” sources tell Variety.

Jaume Collet-Serra is on board to direct the film based on the Walt Disney World ride. Oscar nominee Michael Green (“Logan”) penned the most recent draft of the script. He rewrote a screenplay by J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay. The film is based on the classic theme park attraction, which operates in several Disney Parks across the globe and takes guests on a guided tour through the rivers of the world.

Disney sees the film as another major franchise in the vein of its billion dollar “Pirates of the Caribbean” series and Johnson and Collet-Serra have found time in the stars busy schedule to map out how they see this film going.

Johnson and the team see the film inspired by “The African Queen” starring Humphrey Bogart and Katharine Hepburn and hope to see the similar kind of chemistry with this pairing. Sources say Disney has been over the moon with early footage of Blunt in “Mary Poppins” returns and was looking for a way to keep her in the family with another potential franchise.

Johnson is coming off his monster hit “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” which just crossed the $800 million world wide box office milestone which includes $337 million at the domestic box office. The star has busy 2018 ahead of him with his tentpoles “Rampage” and “Skyscraper” both bowing this year.

John Davis and John Fox will produce via Davis Entertainment; Beau Flynn will produce with his FlynnPictureCo. banner; and Johnson, Dany Garcia, and Hiram Garcia will produce through Seven Bucks Productions. Scott Sheldon is co-producing.

“Jungle Cruise” is currently slated to go into production in May.

The film marks Blunt’s third collaboration with Disney, having previously worked on the musical “Into the Woods” and the upcoming “Mary Poppins Returns,” where she will star as the title character opposite Lin-Manuel Miranda.

Blunt can be seen next in Paramount’s supernatural horror film “A Quiet Place” opposite husband John Krasinski, who is also directing. She is repped by CAA and Sloane, Offer, Weber and Dern.

XD

Whitehall also appeared in Garry Marshall’s “Mother’s Day” and has a role in Disney’s upcoming “The Nutcracker and the Four Realms,” directed by Lasse Hallstrom. His stand-up special “Jack Whitehall: At Large” is currently streaming on Netflix. He’s also in production on the Amazon mini-series “Good Omens” and the Netflix series “Travels With My Father” which is also in production. Whitehall is repped by CAA.

Seven Bucks is hot off the heels of its biggest hit to date, “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle,” which starred Johnson, and was produced by Garcia and Johnson.

DISNEY'S 'JUNGLE CRUISE' MOVIE
COMING OUT SCENE WITH GAY CHARACTER
... But Avoids the Key Word

Disney's 'Jungle Cruise' Has Coming Out Scene with Openly Gay Character
EXCLUSIVE

Disney is making strides by introducing its first openly gay character in the upcoming "Jungle Cruise" movie, which will feature a big coming out scene ... but there's one important step that's missing.
A test screening of the film took place last week -- it'll get a wide release in 2020 -- and sources who attended tell TMZ Disney avoids using the word "gay" when Jack Whitehall's character, McGregor, comes out to Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.
We're told, at one point, McGregor has a heart-to-heart with The Rock's lead character, Frank, about dating history ... and McGregor makes it very clear he isn't into ladies. Keep in mind, this flick isn't set in modern times.

McGregor explains to "Frank" his family had tried arranging marriages for him with several women, but he didn't wanna marry any of them -- or any woman, for that matter. He also says Emily Blunt's character, Lily (his sister in the movie), was the only one in his fam to accept him and support him regardless of the "person" he loves.
We're told the scene was well-received by the audience, but the glaring omission of a pronoun to describe McGregor's love interest did not go unnoticed.
Unclear if the scene will make the final cut -- but ya gotta imagine it will, given how significant a move it is for Disney to include a gay character in an action blockbuster.

There was already backlash from the LGBTQ community over Whitehall's casting earlier this summer -- he's a straight guy playing a gay character -- and now, it's obvious Disney's watching its step even closer as it tiptoes into the 21st Century.
One small step for gay representation ... but still plenty to go.

Jungle Cruise

We expect the first trailer and poster to be shown to those in attendance at the panel whether they drop online for the world to see is another question entirely, but our guess is it will. The studio will want to build hype here as the success of this film could help Disney re-evaluate projects like the Haunted Mansion, It’s A Small World, and the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.

Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra (The Shallows, The Commuter), the film stars Dwayne Johnson is as Frank; A witty riverboat captain cursed with immortality who takes Lily Houghton down the river. Blunt will play Lily Houghton, Spunky scientist in search of the Tree of Life. Her quest is inspired in part by the death of her brother, which was caused by an infectious disease. Jack Whitehall will play Blunt’s brother. With Edgar Ramirez and Jesse Plemons joining as villains, and Paul Giamatti as crusty harbormaster. With an appearance by Trader Sam.

Jungle Cruise hits theater on July 24, 2020.

Dal sito Comic Book:

Jungle Cruise is next. Dwayne Johnson enters riding on a giant boat. He quickly introduces the first trailer for the movie. In it, Johnson and Emily Blunt's characters are having a hard time getting long but ultimately come together. He doesn't want top carry her dead because it would be a lot heavier. At the end of the trailer, a villain appears from the jungle and starts to form before their eyes.

As Johnson is on stage taking credit for the movie, with the movie having shown off Johnson's character as the hero, Blunt crashes the stage and claims Johnson cut the trailer himself. She is going to introduce a "real look" at the movie.

The new look starts in London and follows Blunt's character. She is searching for the Arrowhead to uncover a mystery. She acts heroically in a museum and ends up falling out of a window into a bus full of soldiers, playing along with them. In this version, she gets Johnson's Nilo on board because she has a lot of money. He warns that they should believe in curses if they believe in legends. heir journey looks treacherous and they make a lot of mistakes together. It's funny and entertaining and ends with the same villain.

Johnson explains that they are "keenly aware" of the responsibility they have to honor Jungle Cruise, the Disney Parks ride.
