Actually, from what the Bothans tell me a National Treasure 4 is being planned... maybe even a fifth. The Suits inside Team Disney in Burbank couldn't be happier with the way this one is progressing. Nick Cage enjoys doing it and if they find a good idea to work with this series could go on for a while. Insomma, aspettiamoci tanti tanti NT.

http://www.variety.com/article/VR111800893...yid=14&cs=1 ... The smallscreen deal comes just as Turteltaub finished reupping his feature deal at Disney for another three years. He most recently helmed Nicolas Cage starrer "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" for the Mouse, and he's starting to work on a third "National Treasure" pic. Turteltaub helmed and produced the first two films in the franchise. ... As for his future feature endeavors at Disney, Turteltaub said he was still reeling from the news of chairman Dick Cook's abrupt exit. He'd grown close to Cook after directing his last nine features for the studio. "I've never seen people react so emotionally as they have about Dick," Turteltaub said. "There is a sense of sadness in terms of losing a great boss, and while I don't think any filmmaker or actor feels they can't possibly do their jobs unless a certain executive is in place, there was a feeling of safety and ease that is gone." thanks to giagia |

http://www.hitfix.com/articles/2010-4-1-je...ii-in-the-works
After the first "National Treasure" was an unexpected hit in 2004 grossing $347 million worldwide, a sequel was a given. In 2007, "National Treasure : Book of Secrets" grossed even more than the original, an impressive $457 million, making it the biggest hit of star Nicolas Cage's career and confirming Walt Disney Studios had a true franchise on its hands. Therefore, is it any surprise a third installment is in the works? Speaking at a special sneak peak of Cage's next possible series, "The Sorcerer's Apprentice," producer Jerry Bruckheimer confirmed the obvious simply stating, "We are developing a script now." And it appears it's on someone's internal Walt Disney release schedule as director John Turtletaub added, "There are plans." The filmmaker, who also is behind "Apprentice," wouldn't reveal what the current storyline is, but did dispel rumors that the mythical city of Atlantis would be at the center of the new mystery. Turteltaub bluntly notes, "I should go on the internet and find the script and you get those uncsolicited emails from the 9-year-old from Kansas with Atlantis every time." But the filmmaker and Bruckheimer take criticisms about the historical nature of the previous two films to heart. Especially since they have taken strict measures to use as many real clues making the overall process to write a "National Treasure" movie "shockingly" difficult. "Everyone knocked the movie because it was fake, but everything they were knocking [was] actually true," Turteltaub says. "'Oh, those stupid Ben Franklin glasses...' We found those Ben Franklin glasses! He had that color thing. So, it's just about getting the story to work." Why suffer through the naysayers criticisms? The answer is obvious. Turteltaub jokes, "They pay us so much money, why wouldn't we make that movie? I'm kidding." In this case, not so much. Turteltaub, Bruckheimer and Cage's "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" will try to generate some box office magic of its own this July. thanks to giagia |

Intervista a Jon Turteltaub

http://jimhillmedia.com/editor_in_chief1/b...rland-quot.aspx Has Walt Disney Pictures abandoned its plans to produce sequels to "National Treasure" & "Alice in Wonderland" ? RATE THIS Jim Hill 16 May 2012 11:44 PM 9 It's been a while since JHM last did a story about the various domain names that The Walt Disney Company has registered. Me personally, I always love the research phase for pieces like this because they then allow me to peek over the horizon. See what the Mouse possibly has planned for the future. Like -- say -- this domain name that the Company registered on March 15th ... beautyonbroadway.com ... which suggests that Disney Theatrical is perhaps toying with the idea of reviving its first major production for the stage and then bringing Belle and the Beast back to Broadway someday soon. Copyright Disney Enterprises, Inc. All rights reserved Conversely, given some of the domain names that The Walt Disney Company opted not to renew on April 15th ... dumbothemusical.com dumboontour.com dumbotickets.com ... it would appear that that live stage version of Walt Disney Animation Studios' 1941 release which Disney Theatrical has had in development for the past few years isn't ever going to get off the ground. Copyright Disney Enterprises, Inc. All rights reserved That's what's really intriguing about The Walt Disney Company and its domain names. By keeping close tabs on which domain names the Mouse has recently registered as well as the ones that Mickey has just let go of, you can then get a sense of which projects are being fast-tracked and/or are not going forward. Take -- for examples -- the two would-be DVDs that Walt Disney Pictures Home Entertainment let slip away on March 12th ... nationaltreasure3dvd.com nationaltreasure4dvd.com Copyright Disney Enterprises, Inc. All rights reserved ... which suggest that 2007's "Book of Secrets" will now be the only "National Treasure" sequel that Walt Disney Studios will ever produce. Likewise Disney's decision to delete its domain names for ... throughthelookingglass-themovie.com throughthelookingglassdvd.com Copyright Disney Enterprises, Inc. All rights reserved ... on May 1st suggests that all of that talk back in the Spring of 2010 about how Joe Roth was trying to persuade Tim Burton to shoot a sequel to "Alice in Wonderland" turned out to be just talk. And there's the Company's April 24th decision to let ... highschool-dayone.com highschooldayone.com highschooldayonemovie.com Copyright Disney Enterprises, Inc. All rights reserved ... go. Which suggests that the Mouse is finally (for the time being, anyway) out of the "High School Musical" business. Mind you, not all of the domain names that The Walt Disney Company recently opted not to renew have to deal with movies which the Studio won't be producing and/or show that Disney Theatrical won't be producing. In the case of ... dangerdog-movie.com dangerdogmovie.com frogprincess-movie.com thesecrettower-movie.com thesecrettower.com thesecrettowermovie.com Copyright Disney Enterprises, Inc. All rights reserved ... these are alternative film titles that Walt Disney Animation Studios once considered for "Bolt," "The Princess and The Frog" and "Tangled" but now no longer needs. That Disney would discard domain names like this only makes sense from a business point of view. But then there are the domain names like ... disneybackroom.com disneyfocusgroupbackroom.com focusgroupbackroom.com Copyright 1988 Touchstone Pictures / Amblin Entertainment. All rights reserved ... which the Company registered back on April 3rd which raise far more questions than they answer. I mean, when I see a domain name like ... findingfantasyland.com ... I have to assume that something like this (which was registered back on April 22nd) has to do with the still-under-construction expansion of WDW's Magic Kingdom. thanks to giagia |
