L'apertura è prevista per la fine del 2013.

Construction has begun on Dubai's epic Marvel Adventure theme park, and you can find out a few new details about what to expect from the attraction (as well as comments from those involved) by hitting the jump.

Construction on a 350,000 thousand square foot Marvel theme park has begun in the City of Arabia, Dubai. Marvel Adventure will be a vital part of The Ilyas & Mustafa Galadari Group's plans to open a gigantic entertainment centre and will include Marvel-themed retail outlets, dining facilities and interactive entertainment experiences. Set to open at the end of 2013, an official ground breaking ceremony took place earlier today to signify the start of construction.

"We are pleased to collaborate with Marvel for our multi-faceted themed family entertainment destination. This will be one part of the region’s largest entertainment destinations that IMG is developing which is sure to be a strategic landmark in Dubai, appealing to the region as well as other parts of the world," said Ilyas Galadari and Mustafa Galadari of IMG Group. "Following the outstanding global and local box office success of Marvel’s The Avengers, and the strong affinity for Marvel in the UAE, we are thrilled to be working with the IMG Group to bring Marvel’s most popular characters to kids and families across Dubai," adds Simon Philips, President of Marvel Entertainment International.

Marvel Theme Park to open in Dubai in 2013-end

Located in City of Arabia, it is likely to attract over 10,000 visitors a day

Dubai-based IMG Group (The Ilyas & Mustafa Galadari Group) signed an agreement with Marvel Entertainment to build and operate a new 1.2 million square feet indoor family entertainment centre, Marvel Adventure, which is scheduled to open by the end of 2013.

The multi-million dollar project in the City of Arabia, Dubai, is resumed after changes in the original plan.

The multi-billion dollar Marvel Entertainment is an American entertainment multinational which has produced Spiderman, X-Men and the Marvel Superhero.

The theme park is part of an ongoing development that is set to be one of the region’s largest entertainment destinations.

The official ground breaking ceremony was held on Tuesday to mark the start of construction.

The 350,000 square feet Marvel Adventure family entertainment centre will include retail outlets, dining facilities and a range of interactive entertainment experiences featuring Marvel characters.

The initial plans for the family entertainment centre include merchandise and retail outlets stocking a full range of Marvel merchandise, food and beverage facilities covering a wide range of international cuisines, interactive entertainment experiences based on Marvel characters and other common areas and facilities.

Questa notizia mi coglie di sorpresa: credevo che il progetto (che risale a parecchi anni fa) fosse definitivamente morto e che la nuova Marvel-Disney non fosse intenzionata a riportarlo in auge. Strano che la Disney faccia costruire un parco senza il proprio coinvolgimento; inoltre la notizia non compare sul sito ufficiale della Marvel.

Sì anche noi pensavamo che il progetto si fosse arenato ma pare che ora sia tornato in auge. Tra l'altro i concept art del parco erano davvero spettacolari!

Per quanto riguarda la Disney, sì è strano che non sia coinvolta, ma c'entra comunque visto che ha acquistato la Marvel. Ormai la società è una e la Marvel è praticamente una sussidiaria della Disney, quindi pensiamo che la Disney partecipi al progetto come Marvel.

Per quanto riguarda il sito della Marvel, spesso lo aggiornano tardi quindi magari presto ne darà notizia anche il sito ufficiale.

C'è da dire che comunque CBM è un sito affidabilissimo per quanto riguarda la Marvel e la DC.

Fare un parco Marvel è una cosa molto interessante...sicuramente molto meglio che inserire i personaggi Marvel in Disneyland (una cosa che mi fa rabbrividire!)...ma in un anno e mezzo riescono a costruire un intero parco??????

Spero comunque che coinvolgano in qualche modo l'Imagineering, almeno per farsi dare qualche consiglio.


Me lo sono chiesto anch'io, perciò ho fatto qualche calcolo (anzi, l'ho fatto fare al convertitore di Google ):

CBM riporta che il parco avrà una superficie di 350.000 piedi quadrati = 33.000 metri quadri circa.
Per fare un raffronto, il Disney Village di Parigi occupa circa 30.000 metri quadri (fonte wikipedia) e la Cars Land appena aperta in California 49.000 metri quadri.

Quindi non è molto grande, direi che al massimo possa contenere un paio di attrazioni oltre a negozi e ristoranti.

Ma quindi non sarà gestito dalla Disney?

Poi oltretutto, dal calcolo che ha fatto Beast, mi sembra molto piccolo. Siamo sicuri che sarà un parco a tema e non una specie di luna park?

è un parco a tema vero e proprio, però non sappiamo di più al momento. Pensiamo comunque che sarà piccolino ma magari in futuro lo amplieranno.
