Tinkerbell, Banks ready to take flight in new film

Disney will give the mischievous Tinkerbell the live-action treatment.

Tinkerbell is getting ready to take flight at Disney in "Tink," a live-action romantic comedy that has Elizabeth Banks attached to star and Adam Shankman, Jennifer Gibgot and McG guiding the pic's flightplan to the bigscreen as producers.

Concept for the project, for which the deals are being wrapped up, plays with the mischievous nature of the Tinkerbell character. It was developed by Banks with Max Handelman, who co-runs the thesp's production shingle, Brownstone Prods., and Matt Smith of Offspring Entertainment. Offspring, the shingle run by Shankman and Gibgot, is based on the Disney lot. McG and Mary Viola will produce through their Wonderland Entertainment banner.

Elizabeth Wright Shapiro, who helped develop the project, along with McG, will write the script.

Credit Smith for getting so many filmmakers aflutter over "Tink."

The development exec initially worked with Banks and Handelman on the project while at Wonderland and continued to champion the pic after moving to Offspring.

Shapiro and Banks have collaborated on projects in the past. They include "Keiko," to which Banks is attached to direct. Shapiro will write and star in the pic. Scribe is also set to guest star in FX's "The League" and appear in Ruben Fleischer's "30 Minutes or Less." Ted Hope and Anne Carrey's This Is That will produce "Keiko."

Scribe also penned "Allies With Benefits," which Scott Free is set to produce.

Project is the latest from Banks' shingle to land a home at a studio.

Banks' Brownstone shingle most recently produced Disney's sci-fi thriller "The Surrogates," with Mandeville Films. It also has "Forever 21" at DreamWorks and "Pitch Perfect," at Universal.

Banks stars in Paul Haggis' "The Next Three Days," opposite Russell Crowe, and "The Details," with Tobey Maguire. She is filming the comedy "My Idiot Brother" and will continue to guest on NBC's "30 Rock."

She is repped by UTA and Untitled Entertainment.

"Tink" becomes the second high-profile pic Offspring has set up in days, following a workplace laffer starring Zac Efron that it will produce at Warner Bros. and Efron's production shingle, Ninjas Runnin' Wild. It has "Step Up 3D" and "Going the Distance" bowing from Disney and New Line in August.

secondo me tra qualche tempo malediremo alice in wonderland di burton....ci sta lanciando nell'era dei rifacimenti live su ogni stupidagine che gli viene in mente .....

Abbiamo già avuto Ludivine Sagnier e Julia Roberts come live-Tinks, direi che bastano e avanzano! A quando la versione live action di Lady and the Tramp?

be a quanto pare sia cinderella che maleficient sono progetti sicuri.....adesso c'è anche tink....con alice in wonderland siamo gia a quattro rifacimenti live di classici disney....scommetto che tra un po' sentiremo parlare di nuovo di snow and 7, poi se non ricordo male si parlava anche di un live su la bella e la bestia....

Elizabeth Banks is firing all cylinders right now, and you likely won’t find a more versatile actress on the IMDB. The vivacious blonde actress can ostensibly do it all; from comedy (“Zack and Miri Make a Porno”, “The 40 Year-Old Virgin”), drama (“W”, “Seabiscuit”), thriller (“The Hunger Games”, “The Uninvited”), horror (“Slither”) to adventure (The “Spider-Man” trilogy), she’s got the genres cornered and perfected. At the junket for her new film “Man on a Ledge”, I asked Banks about her aspiration to produce her own films. She spoke a little about “Tink”, announced a little while ago, in which she’ll play Peter Pan’s fairy-dust spreading buddy.

The movie, says Banks, is a little like Will Ferrell’s “Elf”.

It’s a live action Tinkerbell movie sort of in the vein of Elf in which I would play Tinkerbell. Tinkerbell gets thrown out of Never Never Land, and it’s about where she goes and who she meets and the adventures she has….Tinkerbell is one of the greatest characters because she’s mischievous and snarky and fun and sexy and jealous and vengeful

Banks says don’t get too excited just yet….

We’re in script stage and everybody is really excited and blah, blah, doesn’t mean anything. You might as well not even write it down because who knows, it might not even happen.

“Fright Night” scribe Marti Noxon is on scripting duties, with Banks, Adam Shankman (“Hairspray”) and McG (“Charlie’s Angels”) among the film’s producers.

Meanwhile, Banks has another film she’s listed as a producer on, “Pitch Perfect”.

It is a comedy set in the world of competitive cappella singing. It stars a bevy of hilarious, young talent – Rebel Wilson, Adam DeVine, Anna Kendrik, Anna Camp, Britney Snow. It’s really funny.

Sembra interessante come film. Ma siamo sicuri che sia moderno?

Comunque ci fa piacere che escano nuove notizie su questo film, sembrava finito nel dimenticatoio, invece è un progetto ancora vivo.

Ed ecco che rispunta sto film...

Cmq non so se paragonarlo a come d'incanto... del resto Trilli viene spesso nel nostro mondo, non è una novità per lei come potrebbe esserlo per Giselle.
Cmq spero che facciano qualcosa di più "adulto" rispetto ai dvd (che trovo cmq bellissimi) di Trilli... non a caso la interpreta una donna non una bimba!

Giusta osservazione in effetti Scissor ^^ ...cmq il fatto che la interpreti la Banks è un motivo per cui andarne fieri, attrice sexy, versatile e davvero brava...presto farà il botto e se lo merita (che sia la sua Effie Trinket, personaggio icconico in Hunger Games la sua consacrazione??)...

We’ve got a great script we like, so we’re about to appeal to Sean Bailey and Rich Ross, who run things out there at Disney and see if they have an appetite for making it. It’s like Elf. I love those movies. Just imagine Tinkerbell in real life comes to our world.

Dopo anni di silenzio, la Walt Disney Pictures - forte dei recenti successi cinematografici come Cenerentola,Alice in Wonderland, Il Grande e potente Oz e Maleficent - sembra abbia fatto progressi per quanto riguarda Tink, adattamento in live-action dedicato alla fatina Trilli.

Variety annuncia, infatti, che lo studio ha ingaggiato l'attrice Reese Witherspoon per dare il volto al personaggio nella pellicola; la Withersppon si occuperà anche della produzione. Attualmente non c'è nessuna informazione sulla trama né è disponibile una data di uscita; la Disney ha affidato a Victoria Strouse il compito di scrivere la pellicola.

Reese Witherspoon is attached to star in Disney’s “Tink,” a live-action film based on the “Peter Pan” character Tinker Bell.

Witherspoon will also produce the pic with her producing partner Bruna Papandrea through their Pacific Standard banner. Victoria Strouse is penning the script.

Plot details are unknown other than that the film is set in the world of the classic novel with Tinker Bell in full focus. The project is still in development, and there is no timeline for it to go into production.

It’s yet another project based on a classic Disney animated pic that is being given the live-action treatment. Disney has already seen live-action versions of “Alice in Wonderland,” Sleeping Beauty story “Maleficent” and “Cinderella” become box office hits, and the studio sees this as a formula that works as well for a comicbook pic.

The studios has “Beauty and the Beast” in production and is also developing live-action versions of “Dumbo” and “Winnie the Pooh.”

Witherspoon was most recently seen in New Line’s “Hot Pursuit” and recently joined drama “Pale Blue Dot” at Fox Searchlight.

She is repped by CAA and LBI Entertainment. The Hollywood Reporter first reported the news.

'Finding Dory' writer Victoria Strouse is penning the script for the project.

Reese Witherspoon may soon be spreading some fairy dust.

The actress is attached to star in and produce Tink, a live-action take on the classic Peter Pan character Tinker Bell.

Witherspoon will produce with Bruna Papandrea, her partner at the duo’s production banner, Pacific Standard.

Victoria Strouse, who wrote the script for Pixar’s upcoming Finding Nemo sequel, Finding Dory, is penning the script for the project, which does not have a director on board and is still in development.

Details on the project’s angle are being kept deep in Pixie Hollow, but insiders say it will play with the idea and the timeline of the well-known Peter Pan narrative. It is also being developed in the vein of Maleficent, Disney’s 2014 hit that starred Angelina Jolie as the evil witch from Sleeping Beauty. Like Maleficent, this Tinker Bell tale is conceived as “the story you don’t know,” and will offer a new perspective on the character.

Unlike Maleficent or some other recent Disney movies, however, Tink is being developed to be made in a more modest, midrange budget.

Initially a minor and nonspeaking character in J.M. Barrie’s Pan story, Tinker Bell has, since her appearance in Disney’s 1953 classic animated feature, become one of the symbols of Disney and is at the center of the lucrative Disney Fairies franchise. Peter Pan’s fairy companion has typically been portrayed as a temperamental character who can become dangerously jealous due to her unrequited love for the Boy Who Wouldn’t Grow Up.

Witherspoon, who has the comedy Hot Pursuit in theaters, just set up the drama Pale Blue Dot, to which she is attached as star and producer, at Fox Searchlight.

She is repped by CAA, LBI Entertainment and Hansen Jacobson.

Annunciata ufficialmente la lavorazione del film. Reese Whiterspoon interpreterà Trilly e Victoria Strouse firmerà la sceneggiatura del film.

The real question is whether Reese Witherspoon’s Tinker Bell will acknowledge the continuity of those Tinker Bell animated films or risk fan wrath for discounted the Tinker Bell Expanded Universe. I suppose that’s a joke, but I am genuinely curious as those films have a lot of storytelling and character work already in the offering. They could totally cast an actress for Tinker Bell 2 as someone who obviously is The Pirate Fairy, swear for 18 months that she’s not The Pirate Fairy, and then… wammo… plot twist! She’s the Pirate Fairy after all.

Da aprile dell'anno scorso è inserito tra i film ufficialmente annunciati (assieme a Maleficent 2, il Libro della Giungla 2, Mary Poppins Returns, Cruella , Lo Schiaccianoci , film a cui si è aggiunta a novembre Mulan). Non sono ancora previste date di uscita ma da ciò che sappiamo è ancora in produzione (come gli altri)... prima o poi annunceranno una data d'uscita.

Il film è stato temporaneamente fermato. Si attende di vedere come andrà Peter Pan in streaming , poi si decide.
Pare comunque che Reese Whiterspoon sia legata al film in streaming di Peter Pan nel ruolo di Trilli.

As of earlier this year, the Reese Witherspoon Tinker Bell movie was still in development, with Witherspoon still on board as producer but wasn't attached to play the role.

From what I read on the film, it was going to be a very heartfelt/emotional film.

Idk if it's scrapped

Never say never, even in Neverland.

By now you’ve probably heard about the new Peter Pan film coming out next year on Disney+, titled Peter Pan and Wendy. Directed by David Lowery and starring Alexander Molony and Ever Anderson respectively, it also features Yara Shahidi as Tinker Bell.

Prior to its development though, there was another version of the story in the works at Disney. Told from the perspective of Tinkerbell – and aptly titled Tink – the film would star Reese Witherspoon as the famous fairy. While updates about the project have been scarce over the last few years, it seemed as if the project was dead. However, we at The DisInsider have obtained exclusive information that not only hints that the project is still alive, but that it could be in the very early stages of development!

In a new production sheet that we’ve managed to get our hands-on, it’s revealed that the project was recently been assigned a new writer within the last year or so. Currently, Maria Melnik is listed as the scribe. She’s probably most known for her work on both Escape Room films and American Gods.

On top of that proof that the project still has a pulse, the sheet also features several incredibly detailed character breakdowns. In addition to giving us insight into what other characters the story will center on, they also do a fantastic job of framing the planned plot for the film.

For example, Tinkerbell’s character breakdown not only describes her and her association to Peter Pan but indicates that the story will explore her relationship prior to Peter meeting Wendy.

The unofficial synopsis states that after Peter becomes gravely injured, “Tink” (as she’s referred to), makes a deal with the head fairy (named Variel Tarin) to save his life. This results in Peter staying a 9-year-old forever and her losing her voice. The story doesn’t end there though. After Peter meets Wendy, Tink becomes incredibly jealous. However, when Hook kidnaps Peter she and Wendy must team up to save him before it’s too late.

Even though Tink is the clear lead of the film, the character of Peter is not even listed as a co-lead. Instead, he’s a supporting role and Wendy is the co-lead.

Interestingly enough, Reese Witherspoon is still attached as the film’s producer, though it’s not made entirely clear if she still plans to star should the film come to fruition. All of the roles have no actors attached.

For Tink, the ideal lead being considered is a female between the ages of 30-39.

For Wendy, the studio is looking for a 15-26 year-old girl that is “sweet, a teeny bit chubby, and intense.”

For Peter, an ideal candidate is a boy between the ages of 8-9.

For Hook, the breakdown indicates that the studio is looking for a male between the ages of 20-39.

The breakdown also consists of descriptions for many others including The Lost Boys, as well as two other new and important characters. One is a young girl who goes by the name of Winnie. The other, an older woman by the name of Jocelyn. Their descriptions reveal that the story will be told as a fairy tale in third person. We also learn that Tink’s mother, would’ve appeared, a first in film, as well as mentioning her father and brother.

Now, keep in mind that despite so much detail available about the film, there is a possibility this film could still be scrapped. As mentioned earlier, with another live-action retelling already in the works, Disney could very well decide not to move forward with it. However, the fact that this project has gotten a new writer after over 5 years of inactivity is good thing.

Questo film faceva parte dell'era Maleficent, sinceramente trovo interessanti tutti questi titoli che sono stati annunciati, peccato che è stato portato avanti solo Crudelia.

Pare che il progetto sia di nuovo in lavorazione... al momento non si sa se come film a sé oppure come serie tv per Disney +. Da settimana scorsa si parla del film e ora vi sono qualche notizia in più
è decisamente un film dell'era Maleficent... ma potrebbe essere che di tanto in tanto portano in scena film come questi. Crudelia ha avuto successo e ha riaperto la strada ai remake/spin off.
Crediamo che Tink possa essere parte di questa nuova linea narrativa... magari alternano qualche remake con alcuni spin off... è vero che Peter Pan & Wendy è in fase di post produzione per Disney +, e allora magari pensano a Tink per il cinema o un nuovo progetto per Disney + per seguire l'universo di Neverland...
tra l'altro pensiamo che gli spin off siano anche un'idea che prendono in considerazione anche perché è stata annunciata anche la lavorazione del film sulle sorellastre di Cenerentola e la serie tv su Gaston e Letont de La Bella e la Bestia, allora magari usano questo stratagemma per fare altri film e creare franchise dei loro film animati (l'universo dei Geni di Aladdin, quello della Strega di Mulan, magari uno su Ursula da La Sirenetta e poi Rose Red da Biancaneve)...
ci potrebbe stare... (se fosse così allora magari fanno il live action della Bella Addormentata prima o poi, lo inseriranno tra uno spin off e l'altro)

comunque come trama è molto interessante... Trilli e Wendy come protagoniste fanno faville! Non pensavamo ci fosse pure Wendy nel film, credevamo fosse tutto un prequel, meglio così, almeno c'è anche lei. quest'idea dello studio del rapporto tra loro ci interessa molto...
da vedere comunque che non saranno le attrici del live action di Disney+, ma decisamente altre (almeno per ora e dalla descrizione). se non saranno più nè la Bank né la Whiterspoon a fare la fatina, che possano pensare a Margot Robbie per questa Trilli?

Questo film allora già mi intriga,adoro l'universo di Peter Pan!!!!
Chissà se la trama sarà più o meno la stessa di qualche anno fa,oppure riscrivono tutto,e fanno uno spin off sulla Trilli di Yara shahidi.
Spero nella prima perché la trama mi piace tantissimo,amplia la storia di Peter Pan , aggiungendo una regina delle fate,il perché Trilli non parla ecc... con quel pizzico di fantasy alla Maleficent.
Speriamo che rimanga tutto ciò.
Per Trilli, visto che le hanno già fatto il blackwashing,a sto giro penso rimarrà caucasica.le attrici che mi vengono in mente sono: Margot Robbie (già provinata,ma visto che ha già i pirati dei caraibi dubito si metta in questo progetto), Scarlett Johansson (già provinata ma ormai fuori gioco), Taylor Swift(già provinata),Dove Cameron (molto apprezzata e ha già lavorato con Disney),Lili reinhart (amata dai fan di riverdale),Emma Roberts(lei perché la amo io,ma anche perché anche sua zia ha interpretato Trilli, sarebbe un easter egg niente male ) oppure Chloe grace moretz (anche lei molto apprezzata).
Per Wendy ho il presentimento che toccherà a lei essere blackwashiata sta volta.
Uncino leggendo l'età che ha la scheda di casting,sicuro non sarà il cattivo del film,anzi ho il sospetto che diventerà l'interesse romantico di una delle due, immagino sarà simile a quello di ouat.
Peter Pan secondo me avrà due attori,uno della stessa età di Trilli,e uno di quando diventerà bambino.
Sicuramente sia Trilli che wendy proveranno, più un istinto materno che un rapporto amoroso in Peter Pan,anche perché entrambe sono un bel po' più grandicelle di lui,e nel cartone Wendy è un po' la madre dei bimbi sperduti.

secondo noi vogliono farne il Barbie della Disney... se ci pensate bionda pin up, attrice che ha collezionato ultimamente flop da rilanciare e personaggio vedetta di una casa di produzione e un film al femminile... non vi sembra tutto molto Barbie? secondo noi andranno su quella scia... con l'Isola che non c'è e il mondo reale come Barbieland e il mondo reale...

RUMOR: Disney Eyeing Jennifer Lawrence To Play Tinker Bell In Live-Action Solo Film

For the last few weeks we’ve seen several rumors surface regarding casting for some of planned live-action films. First, we got news about who Disney wants to play Rapunzel in a live-action version of Tangled, then we heard about who Disney was courting to play Tiana in a live-action Princess and the Frog. We even got a brief update on the Hercules film. Today, however, we have potential casting news for a project that’s been in development arguably longer than any of the other ones: Tink.

Now, prior to David Lowery’s Peter Pan & Wendy, Disney was working on an entirely new film told from the perspective of Tinker Bell (hence the titleTink). The film was originally poised to both produce and star Reese Witherspoon as the famous fairy. Although details have been harder to come by in recent years, one industry insider claims that the film is still in active development AND that one major Academy Award-winning star is now up for the main role.

According to industry insider Daniel RPK, Disney is eyeing none other Jennifer Lawrence for the role of Tinker Bell in the film. He revealed the update on his Patreon account early Sunday evening.

While he had no other info regarding the status of the film – or where it might fall on Disney’s slate post the ongoing, Hollywood strikes he revealed that Witherspoon was very much still involved. Given that this has been her passion project for the better part of a decade we’re not surprised. That does not mean she may not appear as another character in the film if Jennifer Lawrence does get the leading role.

The last we heard, Maria Melnik (Escape Room, American Gods) was attached as the writer. And that still appears to be the case.

Tinker Bell synopsis?

The unofficial synopsis for her scripts that The DisInsider got its hands on a few years ago states that after Peter becomes gravely injured, “Tink” (as she’s referred to), makes a deal with the head fairy (named Variel Tarin) to save his life. This results in Peter staying a 9-year-old forever and her losing her voice. The story doesn’t end there though. After Peter meets Wendy, Tink becomes incredibly jealous. However, when Hook kidnaps Peter she and Wendy must team up to save him before it’s too late.

Even though Tink is the clear lead of the film, the character of Peter is not even listed as a co-lead. Instead, he’s a supporting role and Wendy is the co-lead.

We’ll have to see if that remains the case when the film finally comes to fruition – which we hope is soon!

Keep in mind that because this news did not come from a major trade or the Walt Disney Company that it should be taken with a grain of salt.

Comunque alla Disney sono davvero ipocriti,hanno fatto il raceswap su ogni personaggio con la scusa dell'essere inclusivi e quando hanno incominciato ad avere perdite subito si sono tirati indietro, e ora tutti i rumors per gli ultimi film hanno attori identici alla controparte animata.
Chissà perché non hanno deciso di fare uno spin off sulla trilli del nuovo film,visto che ci tenevano tanto alla rappresentazione un paio di mesi fa...
A quanto l'annuncio di un film stile Maleficent su Ursula con sadie sink come Ariel ?

Non che ci fosse bisogno di conferme, ma questa è la dimostrazione che l’etnia di un personaggio è scelta a tavolino, e non è come dicono loro, che prendono semplicemente “il migliore attore che si presenta ai casting” altrimenti perché’ non richiamare Yara Sahidih?

Se potessero forse cancellerebbero la serie tv junior su Ariel.
Che boccata di ossigeno rivedere Ariel con le sembianze originali nel film della LEGO pensato per Disney+. Credo che forse da lì sia partita la svolta reazionaria.
Sull’ipocrisia non commento più, sarebbe come sparare sulla croce rossa, ma il commento dei veu è calzante: ci sarà un proliferare di soggetti stile il film di Barbie e questo ha tutta l’aria di esserlo. Disney fece lo stesso con Maleficent, prodotto sulla falsariga di Wicked.
Sicuramente anche altri studios proporranno il loro film “Barbie” e la cosa non mi dispiace, se devo essere sincero; sperando in bei personaggi femminili e nella qualità della storia, nonostante l’aspetto commerciale il più delle volte lo potrebbe affossare. Forse, se lo sciopero degli sceneggiatori si protrarrà, anche l’effetto Barbie si sgonfierà, Stiamo a vedere.

Palese che dopo il fallimento dei remake politicamente corretti tornino indietro sui loro passi accontentando i fan con casting accurati, tutta la loro ipocrisia viene alla luce

Questa vecchia trama non mi convince, ma se con questo film ripristinano la Trilli originale del classico e dell’opera di Barrie prendendo le distanze dalla versione edulcorata di Disney Fairies sarei contento, nonostante continuo a pensare che un ennesimo film su di lei non sia necessario
