Le cronache di Spiderwick, in arrivo la serie tv su Disney+!

In occasione del Disney+ Day, è stata annunciata una nuova serie in sviluppo per Disney+: l’adattamento di Le cronache di Spiderwick, saga di romanzi scritta da Holly Black ed illustrata da Tony DiTerlizzi. I romanzi arrivarono già al cinema nel 2008 con un film che vedeva tra i protagonisti Freddie Highmore, Mary-Louise Parker, Martin Short e Seth Rogen. Il film venne prodotto da Nickelodeon e Paramount Pictures, ma i diritti della saga sono ora passati alla Disney.

‘The Spiderwick Chronicles’: Kat Coiro To Direct First Two Episodes Of Disney+ Series

EXCLUSIVE: Kat Coiro (Marry Me) has been tapped to direct the first two episodes of The Spiderwick Chronicles, Disney+’s live-action series adaptation of the beloved fantasy books. She also will executive produce.

The Spiderwick Chronicles book series follows the Grace Family — twin brothers Jared and Simon, their sister Mallory and mother Helen — as they move into their dilapidated ancestral home and begin to unravel a dark mystery about their great-great Uncle who once discovered the secret and maybe foreboding faerie world existing parallel to their own.

Disney+ has described the series as a “modern coming-of-age story combined with fantasy adventure.”

The books, written by Tony DiTerlizzi and Holly Black, consist of The Field Guide, which was published in 2003, The Seeing Stone, Lucinda’s Secret, The Ironwood Tree and The Wrath of Mulgarath. They were followed by a second series of books including The Nixie’s Song, A Giant Problem and The Wyrm King. The Spiderwick Chronicles was previously were adapted into a film by Nickelodeon and Paramount in 2008 starring Freddie Highmore, Mary-Louise Parker, Martin Short and Seth Rogen.

The series will be produced by Paramount Television Studios and 20th Television. Aron Eli Coleite (Locke & Key) is showrunner and exec produces with Holly Black, Tony DiTerlizzi, Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Jeremy Bell, D.J. Goldberg, and Julie Kane-Ritsch.

Coiro most recently directed feature rom-com Marry Me, starring Jennifer Lopez and Owen Wilson, and directed and executive produced six episodes of the new Marvel series She-Hulk, including the pilot. Her other TV series credits include Netflix’s Dead to Me, Showtime’s Shameless and FX’s It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, as well as Modern Family, Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Mozart in the Jungle. On the film side, she’s next set to direct Sony Pictures’ The Husband’s Secret based on Liane Moriarty’s bestseller. She is repped by CAA, 3 Arts Entertainment and Brecheen Feldman Breimer.

‘The Spiderwick Chronicles’: Lyon Daniels & Noah Cottrell To Star As Jared & Simon In Disney+ Series

EXCLUSIVE: Lyon Daniels (We Can Be Heroes) and Noah Cottrell (Gordita Chronicles) have been cast as the young leads, twin brothers Jared and Simon, in Disney+’s live-action series The Spiderwick Chronicles.

Based on the popular series of bestselling books by Tony DiTerlizzi and Holly Black, The Spiderwick Chronicles is a contemporary American gothic coming-of-age story that addresses kids and families dealing with mental health issues among other relevant topics. Upon leaving New York and moving to Michigan and into their run-down ancestral home—The Spiderwick Estate—with their mother, twin brothers Jared (Daniels) and Simon (Cottrell) Grace, along with their sister Mallory, find themselves pulled into an alternate, fantastical world.

Daniels’ Jared is the adventurous, clever, and impulsive twin brother, who has been troubled by anger issues. Cottrell is the thoughtful, more rational twin Simon, who is an animal lover – Jared’s antithesis in everything. The twins have been inseparable since birth and even developed their own special “twin language,” but resentments are growing between them, threatening to disrupt their brotherly bond.

They join Christian Slater, who has been tapped as the lead villain Mulgarath.

Kat Coiro will direct the first two episodes of the series, a modern coming-of-age story combined with fantasy adventure, produced by Paramount Television Studios and 20th Television. Cottrell’s recent TV credits include Gordita Chronicles and the role of Diego on Punky Brewster. He’ll next be seen on the big screen in family adventure pic Boys of Summer. He’s repped by Innovative Artists, The Kim Dawson Agency and Goodman, Genow, Schenkman, Smelkinson & Christopher.

Daniels was most recently seen in the feature film We Can Be Heroes and on TV appeared in Amazon’s Patriot. He’s repped by A3 Artists Agency, Industry Entertainment and Gochman Law Group.

Tamada will play Emiko. A local teenager in Henson, she’s a member of the out-patient group therapy at the Meskwaki Psychiatric Hospital. Diagnosed as a pathological liar it’s hard to know when she is telling the truth, but it’s clear that as a townie she has also grown-up hearing about the mysterious goings-on at the Spiderwick Estate and is curious about its newest resident, Jared Grace (Daniels).

Lind will portray Calliope. On the outside she is a perfectly normal girl, but that is only her exterior. She is in fact a Fetch (a portent of death) who has taken this disguise to be able to stay close to the evil ogre, Mulgarath (Slater), and assist in his quest to find Spiderwick’s Field Guide.
