Seguito in vista? Ratings reign for 'Princess Protection Program' By Hanh Nguyen | June 27, 2009 3:32 PM Princessprotectionprogram_290 "Princess Protection Program," Disney Channel's buddy film aimed at tween girls, took home the ratings crown Friday night. The cable network's 76th original movie had the distinction of being TV's No. 1 entertainment telecast for the year (among kids 6-11 and tweens 9-14) and Friday's No. 1 scripted telecast in its time period (8-9:45 p.m.) on both broadcast and cable TV, boasting 8.5 million total viewers. It also nearly doubled broadcast frontrunner CBS' total viewership (4.4 million). The movie centers on Princess Rosalinda (played by "Sonny With a Chance" star Demi Lovato) who is rescued from an attemped coup by the neighboring dictator of the fictional Costa Luna. Naturally, the Princess Protection Program (PPP) is put into effect, and Rosalinda goes into hiding and gets to live like the hoi polloi with tomboy Carter Mason ("Wizard of Wavery Place's" Selena Gomez). While "PPP" did very well for Disney, it still was only the channel's third-highest rated original movie of all time. June 2008's "Camp Rock" (9 million viewiers), which also starred Lovato, and August 2007's "High School Musical 2" (17.2 million viewers) still kept their boasting rights. Did you watch? Was this better or worse than "Camp Rock" or "HSM 2"? Do you like Demi and Selena? http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/20...n-program-.html thanks to giagia |

Altro articoletto:
'Princess' brings in 8.5 mil viewers Movie is cable's most-watched scripted program for '09 By JON WEISMAN The Friday premiere of Disney Channel original movie "Princess Protection Program" emerged as 2009's most-watched scripted program on cable, tallying 8.5 million viewers. Starring Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato, "Princess" also became No. 1 for the year on both broadcast and cable in the 6-11 and 9-14 demos. Combined with a firstrun episode of Gomez's "Wizards of Waverly Place," Disney for the night drew its second-highest audience turnout of all time, trailing only the Aug. 17, 2007 evening marked by the premiere of "High School Musical 2" and an episode of "Hannah Montana," which became cable's most-watched series telecast ever. "Princess" ranks as the No. 3 original movie premiere in Disney history, behind "HSM2" and 2008's "Camp Rock" and drew approximately two-thirds of all girls watching television during its airing. Disney was No. 1 in total primetime viewers Friday, defeating NBC by nearly 1 million. Previously, the top scripted cable program for 2009 had been the season premiere of TNT's "The Closer," with 7.1 million tuning in. http://www.variety.com/article/VR111800552...d=1275&cs=1 thanks to giagia |
