Justin Theroux to Voice Star in Disney's 'Lady and the Tramp' Remake

The actor will play Tramp for 'Lego Ninjago' director Charlie Bean.
Justin Theroux is sinking his teeth into a Disney classic.

Theroux is in talks to voice star in Disney's live-action/CG hybrid remake of Lady and the Tramp, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

He will voice the streetwise mongrel Tramp, who in the 1955 original falls in love with a pampered Cocker Spaniel named Lady. In the Disney classic, Lady ends up on the street after her owners have a baby. She is saved from a pack by Tramp, who shows her how much fun it can be to be a dog living collar-free. The film features one of Disney's most iconic scenes ever: a romantic spaghetti dinner held in an alley way.

The Lego Ninjago Movie filmmaker Charlie Bean is directing the remake, expected to debut on Disney's upcoming digital streaming service, which launches in 2019. Andrew Bujalski wrote the script for Lady and the Tramp, and Jessica Virtue and Chaz Salembier are overseeing for Disney. Disney has also cast Extras star Ashley Jensen to play Scottish Terrier Jackie.

Theroux next appears in the comedy The Spy Who Dumped Me, which opens Aug. 3. He worked with Bean on last year's Lego Ninjago Movie, and has both Transformers spinoff Bumblebee and Ruth Bader Ginsburg biopic On the Basis of Sex out in December. Last year, he wrapped The Leftovers after three seasons on the critically acclaimed HBO drama.

The actor is repped by CAA; Lighthouse Management & Media; and Felker Toczek Suddleson Abramson.

Justin Theroux Joins Disney’s LADY AND THE TRAMP Remake

Just yesterday it was reported that Ashley Jensen had joined the cast of Disney’s live-action/CGI remake of Lady and the Tramp as Jackie a gender swapped version of the original films Jock. Now the studio has found its Tramp.

According to Collider, The Leftovers star Justin Theroux is in talks to voice the leading dog Tramp. The studio is currently looking to cast for Lady. We can tell you exclusively that the studio had made an offer to Captain America himself Chris Evans but passed.

Charlie Bean, who directed The Lego Ninjago Movie (which also starred Theroux), is attached to direct. Brigham Taylor, who worked on the studio’s remake of The Jungle Book and Christopher Robin and currently working on The One And Only Ivan, is producing the project, Andrew Bujalski penned the script.

Disney already has a lot of content in development for the streaming service including live-action remakes of Sword In The Stone, as well as Noelle starring Anna Kendrick, Magic Camp starring Adam Devine, Stargirl, 3 Men And A Baby, Don Quixote, Timmy Failure, The Paper Magician, and Togo
