Ebbene si... ANCHE DUMBO subirà il trattamento live action (oltre alla musicalizzazione a Broadway)
Inutile dire .. ADESSO BASTA! Trovano un pezzo di carne e non lo mollano finché davvero non è spolpato all'osso... Ormai aspettiamoci tutti i classici in live action di qui a 20 anni.
Non che sia una cosa brutta, ma questo significa annichilire tutta la proprio produzione. Ormai i Walt Disney Studios sono moribondi...

Disney is developing a live action “Dumbo,” based on the animated classic of 1941.

“Transformers: Age of Extinction” scribe Ehren Kruger is writing the script that will build a family tale around the circus elephant who is ridiculed for his enormous ears and learns to fly through the help of his only true friend, a mouse.

The toon was Disney’s fourth animated film after “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” “Pinocchio” and “Fantasia.” It’s also one of Disney’s shortest animated film at 64 minutes.

“Dumbo” becomes the latest animated film that Disney is looking to bring to the big screen in live action form, after scoring with “Alice in Wonderland.” “Maleficent” is a spin off of “Sleeping Beauty.”

Disney releases Kenneth Branagh’s “Cinderella” in March, while Jon Favreau is helming “The Jungle Book,” and Bill Condon has “Beauty and the Beast” in the works.

Kruger, who co-wrote the previous two “Transformers” films with Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, will produce “Dumbo” with Justin Springer (“Tron: Legacy,” “Oblivion”).

O cielo.... Questa proprio non me la aspettavo😳 speriamo si fermino presto... Credevo si fermassero ai classici tratti da fiabe .... E invece hanno proprio intenzione di andare fino in fondo con questa storia.... Speriamo sia un flop perché fin quando i box Office si gonfiano, potrebbero veramente andare allinfinito

a me sta bene se spolpano il pezzo di carne per portare guadagni facili, perche' e' pur sempre una major, ma allo stesso tempo dovrebbero portare avanti anche nuovi progetti, novita' stimolanti...
La disney e' diventata grande perche Walt era un visionario, loro invece hanno proprio perso la retta via.

Io onestamente mi sono stancato di questa Disney... tutto in CGI o cose simili, morte dei Classici in 2D, spiattellamento di ogni classico in versione Live Action.
La mia solo arma è il non guardare più questi prodotti...
e ci si lamentava(giustamente)dei mille sequel-prequel homevideo e dei Classici rovinati...

Tim Burton dirigerà il film live-action di Dumbo

Ancora un adattamento di un celebre classico dell’animazione per Tim Burton dopo Alice nel Paese delle Meraviglie. Stando a quanto riportato da THR, infatti, la casa di Topolino ha affidato al regista del recente Big Eyes il compito di portare sul grande schermo la storia di Dumbo, film del 1941 incentrato sulla storia di un elefantino che sogna di volare.

Alla sceneggiatura troviamo Ehren Kruger, che ha curato lo script dei film di Transformers. Justin Springer (Tron: Legacy e Oblivion), invece, figurerà come produttore assieme a Kruger.

La rivisitazione in chiave live-action sarà un adattamento fedele del cartoon anche se racconterà parallelamente la storia di una famiglia.

Io non credo che si possa essere più basiti di quanto lo sia io in questo momento, ma non vorrei parlare troppo ad alta voce visto che riescono a sbalordirmi ogni volta di più. Come facciano non so, ma ce la fanno!
So perfettamente che il mio comportamento e il mio giudizio sono sbagliati a priori eccetera, ma questo film per me dimostra sempre meno la sua ragione di esistere.

Ma spero di no, dopotutto non c'erano in Big Eyes. Spero vivamente che Burton abbia cambiato attori feticcio, come spero che questo Dumbo non veda mai la luce.

Burton e la Bonham Carter hanno divorziato, quindi non credo sarà più un'abitué dei suoi film. Per quanto riguarda Depp, considerati i suoi ultimi flopponi, alla Disney dovrebbero essere proprio pazzi a volerlo.

Visti i precedenti film di Burton, credo quindi che sarà più logico pensare ad un Dumbo completamente in CGI invece che ad un elefante vero. Non so perché, ma il fatto che il film sia incentrato su una famiglia ed il tono dark di Burton mi fanno immaginare che la famiglia potrebbe venire trasfigurata nei corvi che poi aiuteranno Dumbo.........

Io amo il Classico Dumbo e adoro Tim Burton, ma sono due mondi diversi e leggere questa notizia mi ha lasciato sorpreso e perplesso.

Non saprei cosa aspettarmi, ma è molto difficile che ne esca qualcosa di trionfale.. è talmente assurdo come binomio che potrebbe però in qualche modo funzionare.. molto dipenderà dal tono e dallo stile, oltre che da una buona sceneggiatura

Dumbo: PETA chiede a Tim Burton di cambiare il finale, cosa ne pensate?

Solo poche ore dopo l’annuncio che Tim Burton dirigerà un adattamento live action del classico Disney Dumbo, la potente associazione animalista PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) ha lanciato una campagna per chiedere al regista di cambiare finale al film.

In una lettera aperta pubblicata dall’Hollywood Reporter, l’associazione chiede che il nuovo film abbia un “finale più etico” dell’originale del 1941, che terminava con Dumbo che otteneva una carrozza privata con sua madre sul treno del Circo:

Speriamo che nel suo adattamento di Dumbo, il giovane elefante e la madre potranno avere un vero lieto fine vivendo le loro vite in una riserva anziché continuare a essere imprigionati e subire abusi dall’industria dell’intrattenimento.

Va detto che negli Stati Uniti gli elefanti da circo sono sempre meno utilizzati (solo recentemente i Fratelli Ringling hanno annunciato che non li useranno più nei loro spettacoli a partire dal 2018). Ma è anche vero che, come nel caso di Maleficent, è possibile che la Disney abbia dei piani decisamente drastici per l’adattamento live action del celebre cartoon: Ehren Kruger (Transformers: La Vendetta del Caduto) sta lavorando a una sceneggiatura che secondo alcune voci vedrebbe Dumbo affiancato da una famiglia di umani (il che ha una sua logica sia sul piano narrativo che su quello cinematografico, visto che altrimenti sarebbe un film prevalentemente in CGI), e quindi può assolutamente essere che la stessa Disney voglia dare un taglio più moderno alla pellicola.

Ma che discorso è quello sul finale!?! Quasi sicuramente sarà diverso, ma comunque stiamo parlando di un film, quello del 41, che affronta tematiche come quello del diverso e del mobbing e di come il protagonista trasformi un suo presunto difetto nel suo punto di forza e qua si sindaca sul finale dove mi pare che Dumbo e la mamma vengano trattati tutt' altro che male! Mah! Robe da pazzi! E stiamo sempre comunque parlando di una favola moderna!

A new live-action version of Dumbo, directed by Tim Burton, is lining up a UK shoot with filming set to get underway next year.

The latest in the studio’s canon of live reboots of animated classics is now in pre-production in the UK, alongside other major Disney re-iterations including Mary Poppins Returns and The Nutcracker and the Four Realms.

The studio is moving aggressively toward a production start with a script by Ehren Kruger about the big-eared, lovable elephant. This is an intriguing family film option for Smith, who is also working toward a start date with Sony Pictures on Bad Boys For Life, a reteam with Martin Lawrence which has Joe Carnahan directing his script.

A number of hurdles would have to be overcome here, but the Disney live-action transfer of its animation library has generated the kind of hits that are good for any star’s resume. Smith, whose latest film, Collateral Beauty, opened in the holiday onslaught and didn’t connect with audiences, would be joining Burton, whose last fairy tale adaptation Alice In Wonderland grossed $1.02 billion (Burton didn’t direct the sequel misfire)

Tim Burton è veramente in avaria totale :/ e Will Smith non è che ultimamente sia coinvolto in progetti migliori..

Tom Hanks rimane uno dei migliori attori in circolazione, quindi voglio rimanere fiducioso anche se sulla carta questo progetto rischia di trasformarsi in una totale ciofeca.

A Green-Burton reunion would make a lot of sense given the sizzling actress seems to be the director’s new muse, and Burton has a habit of working again and again with actors he likes. Green played the title character in Burton’s family fantasy Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children, based on the novel by Ransom Riggs. It grossed $297.4M worldwide last year. She also starred in Burton’s vampire comedy Dark Shadows alongside Johnny Depp and Michelle Pfeiffer, which generated $254.5M worldwide in 2012.

The live-action remake of Dumbo is written by Ehren Kruger, who produces with Justin Springer (Tron: Legacy). Disney’s original version focused on a big-eared, lovable circus elephant, who is mocked for his large ears but learns to use them as wings to fly.

It’s the latest in Disney’s long line of reboots: This month, the studio is set to release a live-action version of Beauty and the Beast, starring Emma Watson, Luke Evans and Dan Stevens, and Emma Stone is set to star as villainess Cruella De Vil in the upcoming 101 Dalmatians. The studio has had huge success with reinventions of classic animated fares like Angelina Jolie starrer Maleficent and Johnny Depp’s Alice In Wonderland, the latter of which was directed by Burton. Those pics earned $758.5M and $1.02B worldwide respectively. Its 2015 reboot of Cinderella starring Lily James took $543.5M worldwide.

Green has been hugely in-demand lately. After a successful run on Showtime’s psychological thriller series Penny Dreadful, the French actress starred in Miss Peregrine and then worked with Roman Polanski on his latest title Based on a True Story, which is currently in post. She’s also starred alongside Alicia Vikander, Charles Dance and Charlotte Rampling in Lisa Langseth’s Euphoria, about two sisters who meet up again after many years apart and the profound journey that they undertake together.

Green is also attached to star with Gemma Arterton in Vita and Virginia, a title which looks at the love affair between Virginia Woolf (Green) and Vita Sacksville-West (Arterton). But word is that should the Dumbo deal make, dates for that title will have to be shifted.

Pare che il ruolo del vedovo proposto a Johnny sia stato, in seguito, offerto anche a Chris Pine ma pure lui ha declinato.
Intanto si scopre che il ruolo di Eva Green sarà quello di una trapezista, particolarmente legata al cattivo del film, ovvero il proprietario del circo. Quattro saranno i protagonisti umani accanto a Dumbo e la storia prevede una dilatazione e un approfondimento del racconto per ciò che concerne la vita del circo.

Eva Green is in talks to reteam with Tim Burton for Disney’s live-action remake of Dumbo.

The studio, which is set to unveil its latest live-action remake, Beauty and the Beast, is tackling its 1941 animated classic about a baby circus elephant who is made fun of for his large ears and is separated from his mother.

Plot details are being kept under wraps, but sources say that one thing the new version does is expand and deepen the circus aspect of the story.

The project has four human leads (plus the elephant, who will be digitally animated). Green will play a trapeze artist who works for the head of the circus. The circus owner is the villain of the piece.

Will Smith was in talks to star as a widowed father with two kids, but those discussions ended. The studio then reached out to Chris Pine, who was fielding several studio offers, but those early talks ended as well.

EXCLUSIVE: Danny DeVito is negotiating to join Tim Burton’s circus in Disney’s live-action rendering of Dumbo which is casting up now. DeVito is trying to work out schedules on his Broadway turn to join Eva Green in the story of the beloved baby circus elephant with the big, floppy ears.

If things work out, DeVito would play Medici, the man who runs a smaller circus that gets acquired by the evil big top circus villain Vandemere. Others involved in the picture say that DeVito’s deal is pretty much closed.

The live-action adaptation of the 1941 animated classic, scripted by Ehren Kruger who produces with Justin Springer, is barreling towards a production start. Eva Green is already in talks to take on the role Colette, a French trapeze artist who works for Vandemere and is a key role in the film.

DeVito, who began his acting career doing several off-Broadway productions including Shakespeare in the Park, has been on stage in recent months having joined the cast of The Price, the Roundabout Theater Company revival of the 1968 Arthur Miller drama. The It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia actor and The Comedian co-star is repped by CAA and Behr Abramson Levy.

Si parla di un gestore del circo, non di un circense in senso stretto, magari è un contabile, un impiegato commerciale o un uomo d'affari, seppure un po' squattrinato. Non penso si replichi con la copia carbone del personaggio di Big Fish.

EXCLUSIVE: Colin Farrell is in negotiations to join Tim Burton’s Dumbo, the live-action adaptation of the 1941 animated classic for Disney, which is casting up now. Should the deal make, he’ll play the role of Holt, the widowed father of two kids from Kentucky and he’ll join Eva Green and Danny Devito in the project, which is edging closer towards a production start.

Farrell has a track record at Disney, having played the fun-loving father of the young Mary Poppins author P.L. Travers in Saving Mr. Banks, which took $117.9M worldwide after it was released in 2013. Green is in talks to take on the role of Colette, a French trapeze artist who works for evil top circus villain Vandemere (which is still looking to be cast) while DeVito would play Medici, the man who runs a smaller circus that gets acquired by Vandemere.

The live-action remake of Dumbo is written by Ehren Kruger, who produces with Justin Springer (Tron: Legacy). Disney’s original version focussed on a big-eared, loveable circus elephant, who is mocked for his large ears but learns to use them as wings to fly.

It’s the latest in Disney’s long line of reboots following this month’s box office smash Beauty and the Beast. That latest live-action version of the 1991 animated classic is set to cross $500M at the global box office today. Emma Stone is set to star as villainess Cruella De Vil in the upcoming 101 Dalmations prequel Cruella. The studio has had huge success with reinventions of classic animated fares like Angelina Jolie starrer Maleficent and Johnny Depp’s Alice In Wonderland, the latter of which was directed by Burton. Those pics earned $758.5M and $1.02B worldwide respectively. It’s 2015 reboot of Cinderella with Lily James took $543.5M worldwide.

Farrell is repped by CAA and LBI Entertainment.

Colin Farrell sta negoziando per entrare a far parte del cast del film. Il suo ruolo sarà quello di Holt, un uomo vedovo, padre di due figli. Il ruolo avrà a che fare con Colette (interpretata da Eva Green), una trapezista francese che fa parte del circo di Vandemere (il cattivo della storia il cui ruolo non è stato ancora assegnato). Danny De Vito interpreta Medici, il proprietario di un piccolo circo che viene acquistato da Vandemere.
L'inizio della produzione è imminente.

Ehren Kruger penned the script. Justin Springer, who worked on “Tron: Legacy,” is producing with Kruger.

The original story followed an ostracized baby circus elephant who strives to achieve his full potential. If a deal closes, Keaton would play the man who acquirers the circus from DeVito’s character in order to exploit the lovable elephant and his mother.

The studio’s emphasis on live-action reboots follows the hits “Maleficent,” “Cinderella,” “The Jungle Book,” and most recently, “Beauty and the Beast.” The Mouse House has remakes of “The Lion King,” “The Little Mermaid,” “Mulan,” and other animated classics in the works as well.

Keaton is in the midst of a career renaissance that began with his Oscar-nominated role in 2014’s “Birdman,” but he first achieved movie stardom nearly 30 years ago in Burton’s “Beetlejuice.” Burton then tapped him to play the Caped Crusader in “Batman,” putting both men on Hollywood’s A-list.

The two talents have not worked together since leaving the “Batman” franchise following “Batman Returns,” but have been looking for a film to team up on for quite some time, including a possible “Beetlejuice” sequel.

The role marks another villainous turn for the former superhero, who is set to play Spider-Man’s arch nemesis Vulture in the upcoming “Spider-Man: Homecoming.”

Keaton also recently starred in “The Founder” as McDonald’s mogul Ray Kroc and as journalist “Robby” Robinson in “Spotlight.” “Birdman” and “Spotlight” won back-to-back best picture Oscars.

Beh con Helena si sono lasciati da tempo ormai, ne avrà risentito anche la collaborazione artistica per forza di cose, e Johnny non è che prenda parte a qualsiasi suo film, vedi i più recenti Big Eyes e Miss Peregrine.

Se Keaton e DeVito sono confermati a fianco della Green direi che un po' di "fedelissimi" di Burton li avremo in scena comunque

The movie - which will also include animated elements - will all be filmed in England and is currently scheduled for release in the US on 29 March 2019.

Tim Burton isn’t known for his light and fluffy filmmaking, so to have him on board of Disney’s remake of the Classic cartoon, Dumbo may have raised a few eyebrows and raising the question could the elephant who could fly be taking a turn to the darker side? Thankfully, according to Colin Farrell, Burton’s vision sounds like it’s on track to stay faithful with the original animation.

HeyUGuys own Stefan Pape caught up with Colin Farrell during the press junket for The Killing of a Sacred Deer and probed the actor on Tim Burton’s live-action remake of Dumbo and the tonal direction the film will take.

“It’s certainly not dark and twisted or anything like that, the story on the page and what I see on set is very sweet, very sweet, and really kind of buoyant, it’s just a really gorgeous tale.

They did a bang-up job of writing a narrative story around what really didn’t really have much of a narrative story, certainly in relation to the human beings in the cartoon, they wrote a whole story there. There’s a great part for Danny DeVito, Eva Green, Michael Keaton, myself and the two young actors that play the kids. Production has already begun on the film which has a cast of Michael Keaton, Eva Green (Casino Royale), Danny DeVito (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) and Colin Farrell (The Beguiled).

No release date for Dumbo has been set, but we’re expecting it at the end of 2018 / early 2019.

Tim Burton is giving “Dumbo” the “Big Fish” treatment, as Disney unveiled never-before-seen footage of the upcoming live-action remake of the 1966 classic animated film.

And it looks like Burton’s take has some marked differences from the original.

“The [original] movie ends with Dumbo flying,” co-star Danny DeVito in a sizzle reel presented at CinemaCon in Las Vegas on Tuesday. “This movie begins with the elephant flying, and takes the story even further.”

With the film still in production, the studio’s featurette didn’t include images of the title elephant himself, but it did include concept art of the character that revealed the blend of cartoon and realistic aesthetics in keeping with Burton’s signature surrealist approach to the material.

“Dumbo” will feature a cast led by DeVito, who plays the circus’ loudmouth manager Max Medici. The new footage shows Medici chewing out the circus’ strongman, who is also in charge of accounting.

Other denizens of the circus were shown, including the beautiful trapeze artist Collette Marchant (Eva Green) and WWII vet Holt Farrier (Colin Farrell), a former circus star in charge of taking care of Dumbo.

“Dumbo” returns to theaters March 29, 2019.

Disney revealed the elephant in the room — sort of — showing the first footage from Tim Burton's upcoming remake of the 1941 Disney animated classic Dumbo during its slate presentation Tuesday at CinemaCon.

But the company only showed concept art of the title character — with his big ears, blue eyes and sweet, emotive expression — who will be CG in the final film.

The clips did, however, offer a first look at its live-action stars including Eva Green, Michael Keaton, Danny DeVito and Colin Farrell under the big top in a dark but stylized Burton-esque circus.

The crafts look top-notch, including those from Burton's longtime collaborators including Oscar-winning production designer Rick Heinrichs and four-time Oscar-winning costume designer Colleen Atwood. Burton also reteamed with his longtime editor, two-time Oscar nominee Chris Lebenzon, and the movie was shot by cinematographer Ben Davis, who recently was BAFTA-nominated for Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.

Slated for a March 29 release, Dumbo is currently in postproduction in London. It was filmed in the U.K., at Pinewood and Cardington Studios.

ci piace molto!
Dumbo è realizzato benissimo… e l'interazione con i ragazzi sembra ben fatta. Eva Green è la trapezista.
Ci ispira molto… ammettiamo che inizialmente eravamo scettici ma dobbiamo dire che questo teaser è molto ben fatto. Andremo a vederlo di sicuro

Questo sembra uno dei remake più interessanti, dato che è anche il primo remake di un classico anni 40... Non mi convinceva il nuovo Dumbo in CGI, ma a vedere dal trailer i risultati sono soddisfacenti... Assai!

dal trailer si evince che nella storia ci saranno un sacco di novità rispetto al lungometraggio, ad esempio molta più presenza di umani, ma senza perdere la magia del film originale.

ad esempio in live action non mi vedo la sequenza finale dei titoli dei giornali... in cui Dumbo è diventato una celebrità, poi ci saranno le canzoni? sarà musical?

Tuttavia se la storia risulterà molto diversa non sarà un problema, insomma non deve essere uguale al 100% insomma i remake e reboot devono dare una rispolverata alla storia dandogli un sapore di novità.

perdonate ma ultimamente vedo tanta confusione tra il termine reboot e remake... non so più dove attribuirlo.

Nel trailer si è visto un topo non antropomorfo in gabbia, che indossa la divisa rossa. Inoltre non è stato annunciato alcun doppiatore. Sembra quindi che si tratti di un cameo/citazione e che il ruolo del personaggio venga di fatto rilevato dai bambini.

Finalmente l'ho visto; ma l'atmosfera è molto diversa dal cartone, ma giustamente era molto difficile riprodurre Dumbo in live action in quanto era una storia molto a misura di cartone, pertanto il termine reboot vuol dire a questo riavvio da zero...
Si è perso però molto di quel pathos che c'era nel cartone, ad esempio la madre di Dumbo che viene rinchiusa in isolamento nel cartone fa molto piangere ancora adesso, mentre nel live viene venduta ad un parco divertimenti... che è sempre una crudeltà... però carino rifare gli elefanti rosa in versione soft nel circo sono le bolle di sapone che prendono forma di elefanti etc...

E' molto bello il live action di Dumbo, Burton ha fatto un ottimo lavoro, ma il cartone non lo batte nessuno

Dumbo sets designed for VFX elephants

Hydraulic sets were designed to simulate the impact of digital elephants in Tim Burton’s live-action version of Dumbo.

The movie is a remake of Disney’s 1941 animated feature and was filmed entirely on studio sets at Pinewood Studios near London and in hangar spaces at Cardington Studios in central England.

Elephants appearing in the story were added in post-production, but the impact of their weight has to be physically mimicked during filming.

“In one of our first sets, we had a huge scene in which elephants were unloaded from their train carriage as they arrived to the circus,” says Hayley Williams, special effects supervisor on the film.

“When an elephant unloads down a wooden ramp, you would expect the ramp to move and bend because of the weight of the elephant. But since the elephants were produced in post, we had to build a ramp that flexed and then put a hydraulic rig underneath it to pull it down.

“We programmed a control system and worked with the animators, who could tell us if they wanted the elephant to step a bit faster or slower, or if we wanted the steps to be a bit further apart.”

For scenes where Mrs Jumbo, Dumbo’s mother, is loaded onto a truck, similar hydraulic systems were adapted into the chassis so that the vehicle bent and moved on set, in response to the weight of an animal that would be added to the film later.

Tim Burton has a long history of basing his film shoots in the UK, often using key studio facilities in the London area.

I was hired and fired like several times throughout my career there. The thing about Dumbo, is that’s why I think my days with Disney are done, I realized that I was Dumbo, that I was working in this horrible big circus and I needed to escape. That movie is quite autobiographical at a certain level,” he said.

Sinceramente ha fatto tante cose buone, secondo me, o per dire meglio molto personali e fuori schema, ma assolutamente NON con la Disney. Disney davvero deve stare alla larga da lui, perché l'azienda ha su di lui, credo, una brutta influenza (come l'autobiografico Dumbo, infatti, ha dimostrato e dice chiaramente: meglio volare libero lontano).

Sì Burton ritiene che la Disney gli abbia tarpato le ali e Dumbo quindi diventa il suo autoritratto... condividiamo l'idea di base di "volare lontano" detta da Hiroe... spiace però che Burton non lavori più per la Disney anche se ci rendiamo conto che forse il meglio di Burton è fuori dall'universo disneyano...
in tutta onestà ci sarebbe piaciuto vedere Burton alle prese con un Maleficent 3 se dobbiamo essere onesti, o qualcosa dell'universo della Bella Addormentata nel Bosco... o magari con una serie live action ispirata a Taron e la pentola magica...
