I personaggi saranno:

Dal sito That Hashtag Show:

EXCLUSIVE: Disney Animation Studios Gearing Up For DRAGON EMPIRE

Disney Animation Studios has been firing on all cylinders the last 10 years with their animated films such as Tangled, Frozen, Big Hero 6, Zootopia, and Moana. Fans were looking forward to Gigantic, a twist on Jack and the Beanstalk, which to the surprise of many was shelved last year due to creative differences. Now we have information on what’s in store for the legendary animation studio.

Paul Briggs who was head of story on Big Hero 6 and Frozen will make his directorial debut alongside Tangled animator Dean Wellins on Dragon Empire. Not much is known about the story but Disney is currently meeting with actors for various roles. Kiel Murray who wrote Cars and Cars 3 is developing the script, with Osnat Shurer (Moana) on board as a producer.

We also have some character breakdowns to share with you.

JAN-NIN: Female lead character said to be the heroine of the film. Jamie Chung has shown interest in the role, Disney fans will know her as the voice of Go Go in Big Hero 6 and the brand new series on the Disney Channel .

BOLIN: The lead male character who is expected to be comic relief, and a 900 year old mentor to Jan-Nin.

KATSU: Supporting male character not much is known regarding Katsu.

It is not known yet if Dragon Empire is taking over the release date of Gigantic held of November 25, 2020, or if it will receive a brand new release date beyond that. One thing is certain though Disney is hard at work getting this project developed and fans are ready for a new story from the studio.

Q: Do you know if it's going to be a musical?

Skyler Shuler: Musical, no...songs to be included, yes.

Q: What do you mean by that? Something like Zootopia, Wreck-It Ralph, Big Hero 6 etc. that have a couple of pop songs in?

Skyler Shuler: This isn’t a musical. It’s film that will have a couple of quick songs but it's not labeled a musical by Disney.

Q: New, original songs or pre-existing ones?

Skyler Shuler: Could be a mix. New ones will appear.

Q: So something like Wreck-It Ralph where both a pre-existing song (Shut Up and Drive) and an original (When Can I See You Again) were included?

Skyler Shuler: That’s a good example.

Q: Can you say what's the setting of Dragon Empire? Is it China, Japan or a fictional place? I'm a bit confused because the names Jan-Nin and Bolin sound Chinese whereas Katsu sounds Japanese.

Skyler Shuler: I can’t speak on that as of yet.

Disney Sets ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ Scribe Adele Lim & ‘Moana’ Producer Osnat Shurer For Animated Pic

EXCLUSIVE: Disney is in development on an untitled fantasy-adventure animated film with Crazy Rich Asians screenwriter Adele Lim and Moana producer Osnat Shurer.

Disney story artists Paul Briggs (Frozen) and Dean Wellins (Zootopia) are attached to make their directorial debuts on the project, which is being set up at Walt Disney Animation Studios. Plot is being kept under wraps, but I understand the movie has an Asian element running through it and a female protagonist. It is a theatrical feature rather than one for Disney’s upcoming streaming service, and the team is going through the casting process for the lead.

Disney development exec Shurer was previously head of Pixar’s short films output. She then produced Disney’s Oscar-nominated hit Moana, which crossed $640 million at the worldwide box office. It sounds like this new movie could have some thematic similarities to that film, which followed the strong-willed daughter of a Polynesian village chief. However, I hear it is not musically infused like Moana.

Lim is in high demand after the global success of Warner Bros’ Crazy Rich Asians. The Malaysia-born, LA-based writer and TV exec has also worked on series including Lethal Weapon, Reign and Star-Crossed. She is also working on a sequel to Crazy Rich Asians.

Briggs was a story artist on Zootopia and Tangled and head of story on Big Hero 6 and Frozen, both of which he also provided voices for. Wellins was a story artist on Zootopia, Big Hero 6 and Tangled.

Disney declined comment.

Dragon Empire

Dragon Empire is expected to be the 2020 untitled release, and we should expect casting announcements, a poster, concept art, and quite possibly a small teaser for the film.

Paul Briggs who was head of story on Big Hero 6 and Frozen will make his directorial debut alongside Tangled animator Dean Wellins on the film. At this point, not much is known regarding the film’s story. However, the outlet states the movie has an Asian element running through it and a female protagonist. This film is not expected to be a musical.

[...]

Other Projects that could be announced

A couple of months ago, Disney released their upcoming slate of films for the next several years. Among the named films, there were many untitled Disney animation entries on that list, the nearest one being released on November 25, 2020. I predict that not only that film will be announced, but the next 4 or so animated films in development will also be announced and perhaps detailed as well. Hopefully, some pieces of art and early designs will also be showcased for some of these films.

Si intitolerà Raya and the Last Dragon.

Le voci: Cassie Steele (Raya) e Awkwafina (Sisu, il dragone).

Il film uscirà a dicembre 2020.

Sarà diretto da Paul Briggs e Dean Wellins.

Raya And The Last Dragon is described as a combination of classic Disney and kung-fu movies- and is set in a mysterious land called Kumandra. The region is split into five sections, and Raya is a warrior on the search for the last dragon to basically save the world

E' descritto come "fantastical work of the imagination inspired by the diverse cultures of South East Asia", quindi un lavoro ispirato a diverse culture del Sud Est Asiatico.

Sisu is the dragon, and is a magical water being. She is blue, pink, and white. But she will be in human form when we first meet her, taking the appearance of an older woman. She finds herself in human form and needs Raya’s help to transform back to a dragon. Film is about the importance of community. The story is set in an alternate Earth created by dragons.

Dal sito Comic Book:

Disney Animation looks to cap the presentation. It starts with a look back at previous titles. The focus will be on Thanksgiving 2020's movie from Paul Briggs (director), Dean Wellins (director), Osnat Shurer (producer) and Adele Lim (writer). The film is Raya and The Last Dragon. The four filmmakers take thee stage.

"This movie is a fantastical work of the imagination," Shurer said. "It's inspired by the beautiful and diverse cultures of southeast Asia." They traveled through those countries while researching the films. They are working with experts while shaping the story.

"I've had the privilege of writing for film and TV for many years but this movie is special," Lim said. She grew up in southeast Asia and dressed up as Snow White as a kid. Disney was always magical to her. "The fact that I am on the stage right now and getting to write the next Disney animated movie, it would blow my grandma's mind."

"Kumandra has been invaded by a dark sinister force," Wellins said.

Footage: Raya, the main character, is determind to find the last dragon to save her nation. The first look at the movie is introduced. In the footage, Raya and a little boy head into what looks like a temple or tomb in a mountain. Rain water flows up this mountain and into this place. The little boy's narrating annoys her a bit. She is charming. A woman threatens them with a voice off screen.

Sisu the Dragon is Awkwafina. Cassie Steele is the voice of Raya.

Sisu is "inspired by the auspicious water spirits of Southeast Asia."
Raya has a gem that channels this "amazing huge power" on her quest to find the dragon. Sisu can also be a wild looking grey-haired woman. Raya has to help her become her "true dragon self."

Dio benedica i tanto 'odiati' e contestati live action! 😌❤️
