Atlantis in stile Maleficent dedicato tutto a Kida

Aida (come è avvenuto con Into the Woods)

Disney Film Facts:

#Aladdin live action's producer confirmed that the movie will feature a diverse cast and songs from the animated film.

Into the Woods è sempre stato previsto come film live action, mai animato.

Disney's Live-Action 'Aladdin' Holds Open Casting Call for Leads

Singing is a necessity!

Disney is on the hunt for the next Jasmine and Aladdin.

The Guy Ritchie-directed live-action adaptation of the classic animated feature has sent out a casting notice calling for Middle Eastern actors in the 18 to 25 age range to audition for its leads, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

Aladdin is set to be a movie-musical (a la the upcoming Beauty and the Beast reimagining), so the notice reads "must be able to sing" and says dancing experience is "a plus." Shooting will take place over an approximate six-month period, from July 2017 to January 2018, in the U.K., with rehearsals beginning in April.

Scott Weinger and Linda Larkin voiced Aladdin and Jasmine in the 1992 animated feature, which follows a street-wise youth who tries to woo a princess and defeat an evil sorcerer after he stumbles upon a magic lamp and is granted three wishes by a genie trapped trapped inside.

Big Fish writer John August penned the screenplay for the feature, which is being produced by Dan Lin via his Lin Pictures banner, with Jonathan Eirich executive producing.

Recently, Disney had a similar casting call for the leads in the live-action Mulan remake, asking that those who audition speak "fluent English and Mandarin Chinese." The casting notice was posted on Twitter earlier on Thursday.

Disney’s Aladdin to film in the UK

The latest in Disney’s canon of live-action remakes is heading to film in the UK.

Aladdin is in the early stages of soft pre-production, with an eye to principal photography setting up and running in the summer.

Guy Ritchie is directing the reboot with Dan Lin producing through his company Lin Pictures. PI subscribers can log in for key UK hires and follow the project on our site as we will be returning with updates over the coming months.

Disney, also known as the Mouse House, is making its second home in the UK, with Rob Marshall’s Mary Poppins Returns having just started filming, Tim Burton’s Dumbo in pre-production and Cruella, starring Emma Stone, also in the pipeline.

And the Star Wars franchise continues to roll along with the Untitled Han Solo feature based at a major UK studio and early pre-production underway on Star Wars: Episode IX.

Dal sito Flickering Myth intervista ad Alan Menken:

Amon Warmann: You’re about to return to The Little Mermaid in 2018. What can we expect from that, and is there any other film that you feel you have unfinished business with or would just like to add to?

I think it’s possible that Aladdin might precede The Little Mermaid. Lin-Manuel Miranda, I knew him as a kid. He was fanatic about The Little Mermaid as a kid. He went to school with my niece, that’s how I knew him… he’s involved with Mary Poppins right now, so when he’s available and producer Mark Platt is available I’m sure we’ll get into that. But I don’t know who’s going to be directing it or who’s writing the script, so there’s so much left to be determined on that. There’s discussion about Aladdin, there’s discussion about a sequel to Enchanted, and apparently another Little Shop of Horrors movie is in the works at Warner Bros. I’m also working on an original project at Universal

Dal sito Hollywood Reporter intervista ad Alan Menken:

What are you working on next?

A lot of film projects. Apparently, we're talking about a live-action movie-musical of The Little Mermaid. I had one meeting with Lin-Manuel Miranda and Marc Platt and that was it. It was great. I don't know who's directing it, I don't know who's writing it, but they're tied up in London for Mary Poppins Returns. I've known Lin-Manuel for much of his life; when he was a kid, he went to school with my niece.

At Disney, there's also the Aladdin live-action movie, a developing sequel to Enchanted, and the Tangled TV show, and at Warner Bros., there's apparently going to be another Little Shop of Horrors adaptation. And I've been working on an original musical for Universal [with Josh Gad and Jeremy Gerelick] — Steven Schwartz and I wrote a whole score and lots of songs. It's a lot of fun. And also, my first animated movie in over a decade, but nothing's greenlighted.

Dal sito Vulture:

For an example of how the synthesis between filmmaker and story works, Bailey chose Guy Ritchie’s Aladdin, which is about to begin casting. “Guy became interested in doing a Disney movie and we talked a lot about it. When we talked about Aladdin, he said, ‘My stories are really about street hustlers. That’s what I know how to do. And Aladdin is a classic street hustler who makes good.’ Guy’s got his own version of that story in his life. But he wanted to honor and respect the Disney of it all,” Bailey said. “We never want to feel like we have a playbook to these things because we worry it’ll make us creatively complacent. The idea of a highly energized Guy Ritchie Disney musical felt like, Oh, we haven’t done that before.”

But that’s another remake based on a film from the Disney Renaissance, which means there are going to be a lot of opinions. That’s something that Bailey is keenly aware of: “We’ll make sure we still spend a lot of time talking about the contract with the audience is on that particular title. We’re going to have to deliver certain things in Aladdin.”

Disney looking for ‘Aladdin’ stars in the UAE

A casting call for live-action version of the beloved film seeks actors with Broadway-level skill in Dubai and Abu Dhabi

The live-action Disney musical film Aladdin, to be directed by Guy Ritchie, has opened up auditions this week in the UAE. This, a month after a casting call went out in the UK.

Pyramedia, at their Dubai and Abu Dhabi offices from April 5 to April 8, are seeking actors who can sing at a Broadway level for the roles of Aladdin and Jasmine.

Disney originally released the animated classic in 1992. In it, Aladdin is a young man in a fictional Middle Eastern city called Agrabah, who frees a genie from a magical lamp to get his wishes granted.

He faces off with evil forces and falls in love with a princess by the name of Jasmine.

Those auditioning for the live-action remake must be between the ages of 18-22 — a slightly different requirement than the 18-25 age bracket specified in a UK casting call. The latter had also specified that the characters are Middle Eastern.

Producer Dan Lin told press that he plans be faithful to the original Aladdin. The comment came amidst criticisms of whitewashing in Hollywood.

“When I came in to make the movie, I wanted to make a diverse version of the movie. Luckily for me, Guy Ritchie has the same vision and Disney has the same vision, so we’re not here to make Prince of Persia. We want to make a movie that’s authentic to that world,” he said.

Auditions in Abu Dhabi have already begun — April 5 and 6, between 11.30am and 6pm at the twofour54 building in Park Rotana Complex, 6011-6012 — while Dubai auditions will kick off on April 7 and 8, from 1-6pm at office 1606 in Aurora Tower in Dubai Media City.

The casting call describes Aladdin as a “very leading man handsome looks, incredibly charming, street savvy [sic], charismatic, very physically fit.” Meanwhile, Jasmine is a “very beautiful Princess, charismatic, highly independent and smart, physically fit.”

Auditions will consist of singing and reading. Training time has been scheduled, but Broadway-level abilities are a must. Dancing experience is preferred but not essential ‘at this stage’.

“Role will require full and total dedication, time and focus — very demanding role,” the call reads.

Those interested are asked to email a headshot, resume and location to nashwa.alruwaini@disneympp.com. Because auditions have been held in other countries, those who have submitted in another region are asked not to resubmit.

Rehearsals will begin this month and the film will begin shooting in July until the end of the year (a former casting call said shooting will continue until January 2018 in the UK).

For more information on UAE auditions, contact 02-4497044 or stars@pyramedia.biz.

Da Deadline

Will Smith In Talks For Genie Role In Disney’s Live-Action ‘Aladdin’
by Anita Busch
and Mike Fleming Jr

Will Smith is in talks to take on the genie role made famous by the late Robin Williams in Disney’s live-action Aladdin from Guy Ritchie, we hear. The adaptation of the animated feature follows the studio’s strategy of bringing its classic animated titles to life and so far it has been a goldmine, most recently with Beauty and the Beast which has already grossed over $1B worldwide. Smith had previously been in talks with Tim Burton about Dumbo but that did not materialize and we’re told these talks are also early.

Like Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin will be a live-action musical and that would fit well with Smith who is not only an actor but was known to the world for his musical prowess as The Fresh Prince rapper before he hit the little or big screen. The production is gearing up for a long, six-month shoot, so that is one consideration. It is supposed to start in the U.K. in July and wrap early next year.

John August (Big Fish) scripted the story based on the 1992 animated classic and follows the story of Aladdin and Princess Jasmine after the commoner Aladdin finds a magic lamp and, upon shining it up, a genie is released from being trapped inside. The bigger-than-life genie then grants Aladdin three wishes.

The newly re-imagined project is being produced by Dan Lin. The executive producer is Jonathan Eirich.

The first Aladdin, in its animated form, grossed a whopping $504M for Disney 25 years ago and launched a successful merchandising line, including creating a new princess in Jasmine for its lucrative girl’s licensing line.

Secondo noi andrebbe benissimo Will Smith a fare il Genio.
Will Smith piace e tira anche tra i giovani quindi perché no?
