Diverse considerazioni sparse.
Se non avessero voluto fare l'operazione ipocrita della Bailey c'è una ricerca e un'originalità nelle sorelle che lascia a bocca aperta. Sono stupende sulla carta e probabilmente si mangeranno la protagonista anche sullo schermo.
La Bailey appare goffa anche con quel vestito azzurro, ma soprattutto è quella capigliatura afro che cozza terribilmente con quegli abiti d'epoca.
Tritone appare anche lui castigato, come Ursula, non più un pettorale nudo e possente, ma coperto da una corazza/armatura.
Flounder è un pallidino pesce tropicale lontanissimo dalla sua controparte animata. Irreale e fumettoso quello, forse questo del live action è una specie esistente in natura.

Continuo a sperare che non ci sia il colorblind nella famiglia di Eric. Che sia una matrigna santo cielo!

A me Flounder inquieta e non poco concordo con Day che le sorelle sono tutte effettivamente molto interessanti, e che i capelli afro di Ariel sono un pugno in un occhio! Inoltre, ho sperato fino all'ultimo che quel colore aranciato spento l'avremmo avuto solamente nella versione terrena di Ariel e che nelle scene marine li avrebbe avuto di un bel colore rosso acceso.. ma mi devo mettere l'anima in pace.

I nuovi design delle sorelle sono molto originali e creativi, ma non mi piacciono, preferirò sempre la semplicità monocromatica del Classico ( è stato proprio il design animato di Ariel e delle sue sorelle a plasmare la mia idea di sirena )
E ovviamente anche Tritone “censurato” e reso più modesto, onestamente la coda verde non mi convince
Logico che Flounder, Sebastian e Scuttle debbano diventare degli animali realistici, anche a costo di cancellare tutta l’espressività, perché se avessero cercato di replicare il design cartoonesco originale sarebbe venuto fuori qualcosa di terrificante
Ma sopratutto… il castello di Eric è di una noia e di un indefinito assurdi, bocciatissimo

Ma che gli è saltato in mente con il castello di Eric? Hanno rovinato uno dei castelli più belli, fiabeschi e iconici dei film Disney! Che scusa useranno davanti a tanta banalità, che è più acurato storicamente parlando? Farebbe molto ridere. Boh, sembra quasi che abbiano preso tutto quello che c’era di buono di questo classico e lo abbiano deliberatamente assassinato.

Flounder è si inquietante in questi disegni ma su Youtube potete trovare la sequenza di Part of your world in qualità eccellente e lì sembra essere un pesce normalissimo. Chi ha visto il film dice che gli animali non sono iper realistici e inespressivi come nel re leone live action, ma una via di mezzo, un po’ come in Pinocchio erano Figaro e Cleo.

Su Tritone penso che dovevamo aspettarcelo, anche se pure li, dalle recensioni avevo letto che tutte e tutti erano rimasti colpiti da quanto sexy era apparso loro Tritone, e quindi mi aspettavo che lo avessero lasciato a petto nudo. Che magari cambi look nel corso del film? Comunque sia è il problema minore. Già sono rimasto stupito che abbiamo tenuto le sirene così scoperte, ero infatti sicuro che anche loro avrebbero avuto qualche sorta di copertura dal seno fino alla pancia (un po’ come avevano coperto Jasmine nel LA di Aladdin, per dire).
Alla fine, basandomi su queste illustrazioni, quella uscita meglio sembra essere Ursula, la quale secondo me hanno coperto un po’ non tanto per una questione pudica ma perché le braccia cicciotte dell’attrice non sarebbero state molto belle da vedere e hanno ovviato con delle maniche.

Su Ariel non so più che dire, sinceramente. Sara’ che dopo piu’ di tre anni mi sono abituato, ma Io da poco ho anche visto la Bailey più carina, ad esempio nell’esibizione a Disneyland dove canta Can you feel the love tonight, l’ho trovata piacevole di aspetto e con una pettinatura che le donava e la valorizzava. Sembra invece che non abbiano fatto NULLA per renderla più bella nel film, ne’ a livello di trucco ne’ a livello di acconciatura. Sembra proprio una presa di posizione, la loro.
Gli scarponcini alla Belle di Emma Watson non li commento nemmeno poi, lasciano presagire male, molto male.

Scusate rompo di nuovo il mio fioretto ma vorrei sottoporvi una questione: quale dei sette mari rappresenta ciascuna sirena?
Seguendo la suddivisione "classica" del periodo post scoperta dell'America dovremmo avere:

1 Oceano Pacifico: qui direi con certezza l'asiatica con abito/pinne rosa ispirati agli abiti d'epoca delle varie dinastie cinesi
2 Oceano Indiano: nessun dubbio, l'indiana in giallo con le pinne in stile sari e i gioielli fra i capelli
3 Oceano Artico: verosimilmente la sirena bianca con i capelli bianchi raccolti in una mezza coda, la cui pinna/veste blu con intarsi ricorda i motivi glaciali
4 Golfo del Messico: qui metterei certamente la Latina di rosso vestita con la treccia
5 Mar dei Caraibi: ecco da qui iniziano i problemi...sembrerebbe Ariel la principessa dei caraibi, a meno che non sia la Nera con capello riccio e vestito giallo/viola, che però apparrebbe richiamare decisamente motivi africani
6 Oceano Atlantico: la nera di cui sopra idealmente la piazzerei qui
7 Mar Mediterraneo: per esclusione rimane la sirena bianca con i capelli sciolti rosa, piuttosto simile alla "Barbie", i cui abiti/coda blu-arancio non appaiono caratteristici o evocare alcunché di regionalmente specifico. Potrebbe anche essere la nera la principessa del mediterraneo (se intendiamo il nord Africa) e la sirena bianca rappresentare l'Oceano Atlantico (nord Atlantico) nordamericano.

Non capisco perché non abbiano fatto bionda nessuna delle sorelle, paura di oscurare la Bailey?

Sempre bello leggere le tue analisi prince. Lascio rispondere gli altri perché non saprei.
Vorrei solo ricordare che il Funko Pop di Tritone era a petto nudo, quindi è molto probabile che compaia anche in questa versione.
Secondo me l’effige del castello è stilizzata ma nel film sarà più particolareggiato e non stonerà. Ho troppo fiducia nel comparto tecnico, la Disney non ha mai fallito da questo punto di vista.
Ho pensato che Ariel fosse volutamente disadorna rispetto alle sorelle perché volessero farla sembrare non iniziata al regno del mare, perché fosse la più giovane, la più semplice ma chiaramente anche perché non doveva troppo allontanarsi dagli elementi distintivi di Ariel animata. All’ingaggio della Bailey io ho sempre desiderato una visione diversa, esattamente come hanno fatto per le sorelle di questo film, perché ritenevo che a quel punto avesse una ragione d’essere e avesse una sua visione personale. Sono contento a metà e confido che ci siano ancora altre libertà e novità rispetto al classico, per levare via diversa ipocrisia. Anche l’inserimento della famiglia di Eric la plaudo in questo senso, ma purché sia sempre tutto credibile. Come pure il contesto dell’ ambientazione, che se comunque sarà un ibrido come per le sorelle di Ariel allora sarebbe ancora coerente e credibile pur nel contesto favoloso.

Ma secondo voi comparirà la madre di Ariel? Di che etnia sarà? Certo che Tritone con tutte quelle figlie diverse sembra che si sia parecchio divertito…

Ps. Magari Vanessa sarà la bionda del film oppure con una capigliatura con ciocche bionde tipo chatouche.

Effettivamente per quanto riguarda il comparto visivo non gli si può dire nulla, è tutto molto ricercato,e secondo me sarà bello da vedere al cinema.
Ora invece parlando dei miei gusti, avrei preferito delle sirene più semplici e con la classica coda di pesce,ma capisco che questa è una cosa soggettiva.
Il castello del principe Eric neanche a me piace, è davvero brutto visto così e non sembra centrare nulla con quello animato.
Lo stile sembra effettivamente quello moresco,come aveva comunicato non ricordo chi tempo fa.
Per quanto riguarda i look di Ariel,non capisco perché sono sempre così semplici,alla fine se notate il vestito blu è la copia di quello rosa che abbiamo visto nelle foto in Sardegna.
Non vedo l'ora di vedere quello rosa della cena,dicono che è molto dettagliato,vedremo...

Ieri sera, pensando ai colori multicolor delle sirene e al fatto che già in passato, con Atlantis, la Disney si era ispirata agli anime giapponesi, si pensi a Il Mistero della Pietra Azzurra, ecco che ora credo che possa essersi ispirata a un anime piuttosto famoso per il genere, ovvero Mermaid Melody-Principesse Sirene (Wikipedia).
Si era proceduto anche lì ad una divisione delle principesse, ognuna caratteristica dei sette mari, che più che mari sono oceani:
1 Principessa del Pacifico del Nord (la protagonista col colore dominante rosa)
2 Principessa del Pacifico del Sud (colore giallo)
3 Principessa dell’Atlantico del Sud (colore blu)
4 Principessa dell’Atlantico del Nord (colore verde)
5 Principessa dell’Oceano Artico (colore indaco)
6 Principessa dell’Oceano Antartico (colore viola)
7 Principessa dell’Oceano Indiano (colore arancione)

Potrebbero avere fatto la stessa scelta.

Caro Ale, io credo che Tritone sia stato disegnato “coperto” per non turbare i bambini con una virilità più sana e “ruspante”… sia mai che le nuove generazioni vengano corrotte da simili visioni lasciandosi sporcare dal maschile!

Interessantissimo day, effettivamente ci sono delle somiglianze, non ci avevo pensato.
Fa sorridere che invece per creare l'anime si siano inspirati proprio alla fiaba della sirenetta

anche nei due sequel animati a Tritone avevano cambiato il colore della coda da azzurra a verde. E' una cosa che mi ha sempre irritato.
Sicuramente l' avranno fatto per renderlo più simile ad Ariel, ma per chi lo ha sempre ricordato con la coda azzurra, stona da morire.

New Details on ‘The Little Mermaid’ Inspired Novel ‘Against The Tide’ Revealed

Disney’s live-action reimagining of The Little Mermaid is one of the most anticipated movies of 2023, and most of us are really looking forward to finding out more. While we don’t have an official release date for the new trailer, we have some news for you.

Thanks to Teen Vogue we have our first look at the cover for Against The TIde, an inspired novel by The Little Mermaid live-action remake, and also we got to know some interesring details and our confirmation of some previously rumored stuff. Yo can see the cover below:



Let’s remember that last year Amazon revealed that Disney would be releasing three new books inspired by the live-action adaptation of ‘The Little Mermaid’, so this is not actually new. But now Teen Vogue interviewed the author, J. Elle, and she revealed some new details. And also, you can read the first chapter of the book at Teen Vogue’s article.

"The novel (which you can read part of below) is inspired by the live action film and follows a 15-year-old Ariel as she prepares to celebrate a coming of age ceremony that will finally make her the Protector of a territory in the ocean, like her sisters before her. Elle also shared what it means to her writing a novel about one of her favorite characters:

"Ariel was one of my favorite princesses growing up, so it was incredibly humbling and wildly cool to be a part of such a historic and ground­breaking project,” J. Elle tells Teen Vogue. “Not only was I tasked with writing an engaging story focused on sisterhood that leads up to the new reimagining of The Little Mermaid, but I was able to write a heroine my children can see themselves in, and those experiences are now part of Ariel’s story" - J. Elle to Teen Vogue.

But that’s not it. Last year there was a rumor floating around saying Ariel’s sisters’ names would be different in the live-action remake. One of the rumored names was India, presumably played by Simone Ashley. Now thanks to the first chapter of the novel, we learned that the character’s name will be Indira. The names of the other sisters would be: Caspia, Tamika, Mala, Perla and Karina.

For those wondering, the official trailer still has no release date confirmed by DIsney. But there are several rumors saying we’ll get it this month. Stay tuned as we will continue to bring you the latest news on this highly anticipated movie.

Starring talented actress and singer, Halle Bailey as Ariel, Jonah Hauer-King as Prince Eric, Disney’s live-action The Little Mermaid will premiere on May 26, 2023.

Chapter 1: Five Days Until the Coral Moon

Ariel rolled in her clamshell bed with buckling anticipation. She dug her nails into the seaweed covers pulled tight to her chin and looked for the glimpse of morning sunrays that would stream into her room in mere moments, officially marking the day she would get to leave home for the first time.

Click. The clock worm ticked his spindly body to the half shell, signaling the start of the day, and Ariel barreled out of bed as if there were springs under her tail. A hum spilled from her lips, and Ariel swayed along to the melody as she moved through her room. She paused for a glance at the polished glass above her dresser, straightening her back. She twisted her lips, perplexed. She wasn’t sure what she expected to see, but something different, surely.

The next day, she, like each of her sisters before her, would be deemed Protector of her very own sea territory. And she was to be assigned the best territory of all, the one where she lived—Carinae! Their father’s castle, where she had grown up, was in low-sun Carinae, but its boundaries stretched far across the ocean. The high-sun side of Carinae, where her headquarters as Protector would be, was altogether different, she had read. It was rumored to have true turquoise water and fish in every color of the rainbow.

Growing up, she had not been allowed to travel far beyond her father’s castle. Oh, how she hoped being its Protector would mean she could explore its vastness. She closed her eyes, imagining endless undiscovered wonders and all manner of adventure she could unfurl. Ariel had hardly been able to sleep the past few weeks, her excitement growing as each new day brought her closer to her Protector Ceremony.

The ceremony happened the year a member of the royal family turned fifteen, and it was traditionally held four days before the annual Coral Moon Festival, when the moon turned a shade of pink so rare and so beautiful that it was said to bring luck to anyone who viewed it.

Ariel leaned on her desk. Its whalebone was soft to the touch, and she couldn’t help admiring the beautiful detail the royal carpenter had carved into its legs. The desk was a gift from her father: a stately piece of furniture for her to do all her Protector business, which would include creating new territory guidelines, meeting with important figures in the community, hosting events, and a whole slew of other responsibilities to those in Carinae.

She had studied as much as she could about what she would need to do as a Protector. Her father, King Triton, had said she’d learn much “on the job,” and it must have been a big job, because her sisters were so busy with their duties in their respective territories that she hadn’t seen them in . . . years. Mala had left over a decade ago, followed by Indira and Caspia. The others had trickled out over time until Ariel had found herself the only princess in the castle. Though her sisters were good at avoiding each other. So perhaps it wasn’t busyness that kept them away.

Ariel dusted her desk and straightened the things on it: a cockle she’d found once that was just too interesting to leave behind; a jar of squid ink; a stack of sticky Pitonian seaweed perfect for writing notes, which her sister Perla had gifted her before she’d left for her own duties in the Piton Sea when Ariel was just a little fry. She stacked and restacked the scrolls on her desk, almost all of them about Carinae and all the areas she had yet to see. She’d churned her nervous energy these past few weeks between lessons on sea history and reading up on social etiquette, the proper way to host dignitaries, and what sorts of sanctions her sisters had put in place to better their territories for the seafolk there. She wanted to learn all she could, and she looked forward to exploring every nook and cranny of her territory with any free moment she had.

Just the thought sent a shiver of excitement up her arms as she moved back to her mirror. Her bonnet, woven together with silky strands of seaweed, was half off, as it always was each morning. She tossed it, letting her auburn locs, well oiled with sap from misaju-water coconuts, spill down her back. She posed again in the reflective glass, lengthening her torso, then grabbed the fine blue sea whip shawl she would don with her headpiece for the ceremony in a few days. She ran her fingers over its soft coral fibers. They’d been woven together strand by strand for weeks to make the ceremonial garment. Its little sleeves were adorned with pearl beadwork to match the ceremonial headpiece, also made just for her. Both were simply stunning.

“Nice to meet you. I’m . . .” She cleared her throat. Too high. She had to come across as serious. Her father always sounded so deliberate and authoritative when he spoke. She straightened herself, and the words came out stronger this time. “It’s a pleasure to meet you. I’m Ariel, Protector of Carinae. How can I be of help?” She dangled her hand in the water, imagining someone taking it in greeting.

She carefully set aside her ceremony shawl and made her way down the halls. The castle came to life with the squeaking of shells being cleaned and windows being opened. Urchins dragged their bodies along the bone walls to polish them, while opah and tuna shuffled back and forth to heat the lower-level rooms.

Ariel frowned impatiently as she was caught in a corridor traffic jam caused by a school of tidying-up wrasse, ushered along by Julia, the head housekeeper.

“Good morning, Julia!” Ariel’s frown turned into a smile as she spotted the matronly arthropod who diligently tidied her bed each morning. Ariel really could make her own bed. She just preferred to fill her tummy first. She’d tell Julia not to worry about it, that she would get to tidying her room later in the day, but she knew the dutiful housekeeper wouldn’t hear of it.

The daughter of the king’s room should be pristine, Julia would say.

Ariel kept moving. The idea of her entire sea present at her ceremony was beyond thrilling. They could make enough room for everyone, surely. She descended a tunnel to the lower floor of the castle, swishing faster down the corridor, eager to get her father on board with her idea during their morning meal.

Io per curiosità ho preordinato la novelization del film… cercherò di leggerla subito appena mi arriva, in modo da farvi un resoconto. Detto ciò, ieri mi sono chiesto se il trailer andrà in onda durante il Festival di Sanremo, come accadde nel 2017 per “La Bella e la Bestia”. Cosa ne pensate?

Le copertine e il merchandising Ha solo illustrazioni per far sembrare la Baley piu carina ed effettivamente è meglio che nelle foto ma comunque non è Ariel manco dal binocolo.
Le sorelle sono esagerate e pretenziose e hanno nomi diversi perché effettivamente non sono i personaggi del classico come come la protagonista, che se avesse avuto un altro nome forse avrebbe ricevuto meno odio.

Aspetto il trailer per massacrarlo in gruppo come il teaser ahahaha

Io ci ho perso le speranze. Solo disegni e notizie su quanto sia favolosa Halle Bailey fino al giorno prima dell’uscita.

Quest’ultima illustrazione è molto bella ma come dice Fulvio è una versione altamente migliorata della Bailey, che non ha davvero queste sembianze, non solo di viso ma anche di corpo qui appare molto più “donna”.
Le sorelle a me piacciono per ora, a parte che le due caucasiche mi sembra che siano troppo simili. La più bella mi sembra l’indiana. Aspetto di vederle dal vivo per esprimere un giudizio completo ma per ora sono più curioso di vedere loro che Ariel, in quanto mi piacerebbe una scena altamente colorata e visivamente bella per la loro canzone (lo so, dovrei abbassare le aspettative).

Le sorelle a me piacciono per ora, a parte che le due caucasiche mi sembra che siano troppo simili. La più bella mi sembra l’indiana. Aspetto di vederle dal vivo per esprimere un giudizio completo ma per ora sono più curioso di vedere loro che Ariel, in quanto mi piacerebbe una scena altamente colorata e visivamente bella per la loro canzone (lo so, dovrei abbassare le aspettative).

Guarda Nicola, su questo mi sento abbastanza sicuro che non saremo delusi. Marshall è coreografo e gay, con una bella sensibilità e gran gusto per la messa in scena, infatti le sequenze collettive di musical al femminile come Chicago e Nine sono eleganti, di classe, travolgenti, sensuali e molto femminili. La cosa migliore di Pirati dei Caraibi 4 è stata proprio la sequenza con le sirene, misteriosa, ammaliante, sexy e inquietante (ma vogliamo parlare anche di tanti momenti di Memorie di una Geisha, in particolare quello della danza di Sayuri!??). Mi aspetto grandi cose dalla sequenza con le sorelle!!

Il trailer esce al Super Bowl come vi avevamo riferito già diverse settimane fa (prima ancora delle testate online o anche delle pagine instagram dedicate al film che annunciavano uscite precedenti, non rispondenti al vero come presumevamo)...

Disney is expected to debut new trailers for Marvel Studios’ Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (Feb. 17), Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (May 5), The Little Mermaid (May 26), Pixar’s Elemental (June 16) and possibly Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (June 30) and Marvel Studios’ The Marvels (July 28). No spots for Disney+’s Secret Invasion are expected.

The Super Bowl has always been a bright spot for Disney, last year Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was the most-watched spot on social in the 24 hours following the L.A. Rams win with 93M views, that movie ultimately posted the biggest opening at the box office last year in North America with $187 million.

Super Bowl 2023 featuring the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs takes place on Sunday, February 12 at 6:30 PM ET. It will be available to watch on FOX.

A giudicare dalle bambole, le sorelle di Ariel devono avere una certa presenza e non un semplice cameo nel film. Me felice...Questo film sta prendendo una piega inaspettata.

Da quello che ho capito dai rumors,si dice che le sorelle saranno davvero importanti per la scena della battaglia finale contro Ursula.
Sinceramente questo cambiamento se fatto bene potrebbe piacermi, ricorda la fiaba originale dove tutte vanno in soccorso alla sirenetta

Sembra che Mattel si sia proprio sbizzarrita, però bisogna veder quali di quelle bambole saranno vere

Comunque si, questa cosa che le sorelle avranno un ruolo maggiore si sapeva da tempo
In effetti l’unico vero difetto del Classico come adattamento della fiaba era aver ridotto le sorelle a mere comparse, ma mi da fastidio che usino questo stupido e inutile remake per aggiustare tale errore

Che Ursula chic la McCarthy, sembra si siano ispirati alla versione del musical teatrale. Sembra inoltre un pò "piallata" in photoshop. Ha sempre avuto un bel viso, ma la ricordavo più pacioccona. I capelli scompigliati di Ariel non mi dispiacciono.
