We are casting at this time for those with flexible availability from June to September, Must be Legal to work in the US, and must be comfortable traveling to Atlanta (We will travel and house you if selected).
We will also be hiring many Locals who will work on Oahu later this year! So please keep in mind if you are hired you will need to potentially work in Atlanta AND Oahu over the span of a few months! This means no changing of hair, no new tattoos, and no body modifications during your hiring period!

‘Moana’ Live-Action Remake to Start Filming in June

Moana 2 is coming later this year, but Disney isn’t quite finished with the franchise.

The live-action remake is also on the way and is currently in pre-production. A new casting call went out today and the studio is looking for men, women, and children to play the people of the fictional island of Mortonui. Additionally, the studio is looking to begin filming in June in Hawaii and Atlanta. Filming is expected to be completed towards the end of September.

Earlier this month, another casting call went out looking for a pacific islander actress in their 60s to play Moana’s fun loving grandma, Tala. The studio is seeking someone who can sing and dance as well bring some comedic chops to the role. Very similar to the character from the 2016 animated original.

Dwayne Johnson is set to act as producer for the film, via his production company, Seven Bucks Productions. His co-star in the 2016 animated film, Auli’i Cravalho, who voiced the titular character, will executive produce with Scott Sheldon of Flynn Picture Co.. Cravalho will not be reprising the role Moana, but an actor has been cast according to Johnson.

Thomas Kail is on board to direct from a script by Jared Bush, who wrote the original. Lin-Manuel Miranda may not be returning for Moana 2, which is in the works at Disney Animation Studios, but is on board for the remake.

With Moana 2 coming in November, expect Disney to shift the live-action remake off its June 2025 date.

E che si può dire di questa buffonata?! Che secondo me stanno puntando più di quanto dovrebbero su Oceania, e che avranno un tonfo non indifferente! Avrebbero sicuramente dovuto puntare di più su Biancaneve, ma ormai se lo sono giocato con tutte le polemiche che ci sono state.

Purtroppo Biancaneve se la sono giocata male durante la pre-produzione e la produzione perché non ne hanno dato nessun risalto
Oceania al momento la stanno giocando bene perché ne danno notizie e la tengono al centro dell'attenzione, forse per via del fatto che fa numeroni su Disney+ e forse ha potenzialità di arrivare al miliardo (Biancaneve è indicata nelle previsioni sui 300 milioni di incasso)...
ci fa strano che non si sappia più nulla di Hercules che con Oceania condivide sia l'universo mitologico sia la regia del film di base (e Hercules, essendo titolo prettamente maschile, potrebbe prendere una larga fetta di pubblico, anche perché c'è uno zoccolo duro di fans che vorrebbe davvero vedere Hercules della Disney in live action e, se realizzato a dovere, potrebbe superare e di molto le aspettative)

Auliʻi Cravalho Champions ‘Moana’ Universe Expanding With Sequel and Live-Action Remake: ‘More Generations Are Going to Relate to Her’

“Moana” voice actor Auli’i Cravalho attended her first SAG Awards this year and spoke to Variety On the Carpet presented by DIRECTV about the hit Disney animated movie becoming a full blown franchise. The studio surprised fans earlier this month by announcing the “Moana” television series it had been developing was now a movie sequel set for a theatrical release this November.

“It feels like the ‘Moana’ universe is expanding and I love that,” Cravalho told Variety’s Angelique Jackson. “I love that Moana is a hero to all. It changed what it meant to be a Disney princess. You can be strong and brave and stand up against a demigod. It feels really good that more and more generations are going to be able to relate to this character.”

Cravalho is also an executive producer on a live-action remake of the original “Moana,” but said she “could feel Mickey Mouse breathing down my neck” and couldn’t reveal any updates about the project.

According to Disney, “Moana 2” will take audiences on an “expansive new voyage with Moana, Maui and a brand-new crew of unlikely seafarers. After receiving an unexpected call from her wayfinding ancestors, Moana must journey to the far seas of Oceania and into dangerous, long-lost waters for an adventure unlike anything she’s ever faced.”

Dave Derrick Jr. is directing the sequel, with music from the duo of Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear, as well as Opetaia Foa’i and Mark Mancina, who worked on the first film. Lin-Manuel Miranda, who wrote “How Far I’ll Go” and “You’re Welcome,” isn’t expected to return with new songs for the follow-up.

While Cravalho is back to voice Moana in the film sequel, she will be passing off the role to another actor for the live-action remake.

“I believe it is absolutely vital that casting accurately represents the characters and stories we want to tell,” she said last May on Instagram when the live-action project was announced. “I can’t wait to find the next actress to portray Moana’s courageous spirit, undeniable wit and emotional strength.”

Questo film non flopperà ma incasserà molto meno di quanto non si aspettino (le previsioni di incasso sono intorno agli 800 milioni di dollari) .

Biancaneve è stato poco promosso perché era sull'orlo di essere dirottato su disney+ (è stato salvato dall'incasso di "la sirenetta", che ha superato la soglia di rischio stabilita in 500 milioni di dollari)
Ricordiamoci che alle case di produzione ritorna circa il 45% dell'incasso cinematografico globale (il 60% in Nordamerica, il 50% circa in Europa e il 30% in Cina), quindi incassare 300 milioni (come è quotato Biancaneve) significherebbe riavere 150 milioni di dollari, che basterebbero appena a coprire il budget del film; una previsione inferiore causerebbe una perdita enorme, e a quel punto converrebbe il premiere access che può garantire (come è stato per Mulan) 100 milioni di dollari puri, senza spese.

Oceania potrà incassare 600-700 milioni di dollari, con una performance in linea con quella della Sirenetta, molto forte in USA e meno all'estero. Sarà leggermente migliore, però, perché c'è più star power grazie a The Rock ed è meno infarcito di "woke". Inoltre per Vaiana potranno prendere anche un'attrice bruttina in quanto la controparte animata non ha caratteristiche di bellezza, a differenza di Ariel che è stata assolutamente massacrata dal casting.

siete così sicuri che Oceania (live action) non arrivi a 800 milioni? secondo noi può arrivare a farli...
del resto secondo noi inizieranno una promozione buona, fondata su The Rock e sui richiami all'originale, dando enfasi alla parte epica... e lanciandola come una sorta di nuova visione del cartone... e probabilmente tra tecnica molto alta di CGI e immersione in un universo alla Avatar con la tecnologia di oggi e musiche e sequenze molto forti possono arrivare a lanciarlo come prodotto di punta

Oceania secondo noi sarà studiata per la promozione mettendo The Rock al centro della scena per il pubblico extra USA così da garantire che i ragazzi vadano al cinema e punteranno su trailer tipicamente maschili con scene d'azione (già l'hanno fatto per La Sirenetta lo faranno anche per Oceania)

pensiamo che 800 milioni li farà anche perché non ha dietro le polemiche che si è portata La Sirenetta con il casting della protagonista nera... qui a meno che non prendano un polinesiana dalla pelle di luna o una Kristen Stewart per fare Vaiana, non crediamo che si pongano problemi di come sarà fisicamente la protagonista, quindi bypasseranno quel problema (e pensiamo sia anche questo il motivo per cui hanno lanciato al cinema prima il live action di Oceania rispetto a quello di Rapunzel o Frozen perché in questi ultimi le principesse sono tipicamente bionde e caucasiche, seppure a livello di probabilità di incasso Frozen avrebbe aspettative pressoché certe di giungere al miliardo, Rapunzel meno ma comunque è una storia nota e il suo incasso di grande rispetto lo farebbe eccome, risparmiando un po' sui costi avrebbero un successo sicuro tra le mani e i suoi 500/600 milioni li porterebbe a casa, certo dovrebbero evitare eccessiva CGI ma sinceramente neppure ne avrebbe bisogno dato che in Germania la realizzano per la tv e con costi molto ridotti eppure i prodotti sono di tutto rispetto)

Mah, per me siete tutti un po' troppo ottimisti su questo ridicolo remake di Oceania.
La Disney e la sua reputazione sono in caduta libera ormai, la gente è stufa della Disney e sui social la percula per ogni cosa che fa.
E soprattutto la gente è stufa dei remake live action, i quali ,ricordiamoci, hanno sempre contato sul fattore nostalgia, che per Oceania NON esiste.
Non credo nemmeno che possano puntare così tanto su The Rock come star assoluta per fare incassi stratosferici. Non metto in dubbio che abbia un certo richiamo, ma di certo non è Emma Watson. Non mi pare che i suoi film facciano un miliardo ogni volta.
Aggiungiamoci che il film non potrà contare su altre star in quanto devono assolutamente attenersi a un cast di nativi polinesiani, e non mi pare ci siano attori famosi in quel senso.
Una mossa intelligente sarebbe stata lasciare Aulii Cravalo come Moana, le persone erano entusiaste di questo cast appena fu annunciato, ma sappiamo bene quanto la Disney ami sabotarsi da sola, per cui l'hanno fatta fuori in qualche modo e per qualche ridicola ragione.

Ribadisco quello che ho detto mille volte qua sul forum, il successo di Oceania non fu negli incassi (che furono abbastanza nella media) tantomeno nell'impatto culturale lasciato dal film, ma principalmente dal fatto che è una calamita per gli occhi per i bambini. Sicuramente anche questo "live action" (e lo metto tra virgolette perché non avrà nulla di reale a parte gli attori, o forse nemmeno quelli dato che ormai pure capelli e corpi vengono costruiti in CGI per molte scene) sarà utilissimo ai genitori per far stare zitti e buoni i loro pargoli davanti al tablet, ma dubito che investano in massa per andare al cinema.

Dwayne Johnson Reveals When Live Action 'Moana' Starts Filming on Oscars 2024 Red Carpet

Dwayne Johnson makes his arrival at the 2024 Academy Awards on Sunday (March 10) at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.

The 51-year-old actor is in attendance at the awards show as he is set to hit the stage as a presenter during the ceremony.

While on the red carpet, Dwayne spilled some Moana news while speaking with E! Live on the Red Carpet‘s Laverne Cox.

Dwayne is set to reprise his role as demigod Maui in the live-action adaptation, and he revealed that filming is slated to kick off towards the end of 2024. He’s also going to be executive producing. He also recently revealed that they have cast the actress to play Moana!

Now that we know filming won’t start until later this year, the original June 2025 release date being pushed back makes more sense.

If you didn’t know, there’s also an animated Moana sequel coming, with Dwayne and Auli’i Cravalho reprising their roles.

Un po' di notizie da IMDB (quindi da prendere con le pinze):

* John Myhre sarà lo scenografo (production designer) del film. Ha già lavorato come scenografo al remake de La Sirenetta, Lilli e il Vagabondo e al film Il ritorno di Mary Poppins (principalmente ha lavorato spesso con Rob Marshall)
* Liz McGregor sarà la costumista del film. Ha già lavorato, come assistente costumista, al remake di Mulan.
* Alan Hook sarà l'Art Director del film. Ha già lavorato, per la direzione artistica, a vari film come Iron Man 3, Guardiani della Galassia Vol 3, Black Panther e il prossimo Captain America: Brave New World.


Per questo film stanno cercando quindi grandi nomi anche nel reparto tecnico

Già, sembrano crederci davvero un sacco. Moana è uno dei film recenti più amati, anch'io a riguardarlo mi scopro molto affezionata al titolo, che comunque, nonostante tutte le sue pecche, sta in piedi molto bene, tra canzoni riuscite davvero, inserite in modo decente, guizzi comici e i tatuaggi di Maui, momenti epici e di forti emozioni, secondo me è da inserire nella triade d'elite delle fiabe 2010-2020 con Rapunzel e Frozen.

In generale, pensano che possa funzionare perché ha un nome di richiamo forte, The Rock, che comunque attira molto pubblico, non si può dire di no. Il grande problema di questa pellicola non saranno i vari cambi etnici, qui sia mai che si metta un bianco o un nero a fare un polinesiano (e secondo me è anche giusto così), ma la nomea di cinepattoni che si stanno facendo i remake live action dei film Disney. Ora quasi tutti hanno forti pregiudizi, a ragion dovuta, e il successo che poteva avere prima del COVID ora non lo avrà in alcun modo.

Secondo me è un flop annunciato,i live action sono andati bene per via dell'effetto nostalgia.
Contando che il film non ha nemmeno dieci anni, potrebbe attirare solo i bambini che sono cresciuti con il classico, escludendo una fetta di adulti che probabilmente neanche lo conoscono.
Comunque si vede che questo progetto è frutto della mente di the rock che dopo due flop vuole cercare di rilanciarsi la carriera,basti pensare a quello che ha combinato nei DC studios dove ha iniziato a pianificare e comandare tutto senza che nessuno lo avesse incaricato di nulla.
Lo noto soprattutto perché è lui che continua a rilasciare interviste e anche perché è l'unico live action in pre produzione che sta venendo davvero prodotto dopo il flop della sirenetta...

Concordo con quello che dite, e aggiungo che secondo me neanche i bambini che stanno crescendo col film animato sono interessati a questo remake perché ormai conosceranno il film a memoria e sono sicuramente più elettrizzati all’idea di vedere una nuova avventura di Moana e Maui nel sequel in arrivo a novembre piuttosto che rivedere per l’ennesima volta il primo film con la differenza che stavolta sono attori

TikTok Star Drew Afualo Makes Case To Be Cast In ‘Moana’ Live-Action Film: “I’ll Play Moana’s Dad If That’s What It Takes”

Drew Afualo does not mess around when it comes to calling out misogynist men on TikTok and is now putting people on notice after she failed to receive an invite to audition for the live-action adaptation of Moana.

The content creator is known to use humor on TikTok and shared a video where she made a case for herself to be given the opportunity to be part of the Disney film.

“I want to talk to you all about something a little confusing,” Afualo said in the video. “So, apparently, there were auditions, like an open casting call, for the live-action Moana.”

Afualo said she heard about the open casting call from her Samoan family. She went on to list films featuring Samoan people like Sione’s Wedding, Once We Were Warriors, and The Legend of Johny Lingo, noting that Taika Waititi’s Next Goal Wins “has five or six of the same Samoan people I have seen in many other movies because there’s not many of us so they have to go back to the well a bunch of times.”

The social media star went on to flex her friendship with Auliʻi Cravalho, who voiced Moana in the animated film, and also her meeting Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, having interviewed him multiple times at red carpet events.

“Why the f*** has no one called me? Did my invitation get lost in the mail?” Afualo questioned. “Y’all got The Rock? Anyone else you can think of that might be Samoan and not a big bald man necessarily. God, if there was only someone I could think of that has a platform that is so incredibly interested in being in the live-action version of my own f***ing people.”

Afualo then said a couple of phrases in Samoan directed at the people in casting asking, “Are you mad at me?” and “What’s going on?”

Characterized by the humor she injects in all of her content, Afualo suggested she was open to playing Moana’s father if that guaranteed her a part in the movie.

“Anyways, all that being said, I am very interested,” she continued. “Moana people feel free to hit my line. I am super open to being a background f***ing person. I don’t give a sh**. I’ll play Moana’s dad if that’s what it takes. But please, for the love of God put me in that movie. If you don’t, it’s gonna feel real targeted. So consider this a threat. I’m kidding. I’m kidding.”

Afualo has over 8 million TikTok followers, accumulating many of them for her taking down men with bad takes on the same platform. She also hosts the Spotify podcasts The Comment Section and Two Idiot Girls alongside her sister Deison.

The influencer teamed up with Questlove’s imprint for the release of her book Loud: Accept Nothing Less Than the Life You Deserve, which is available for pre-order now and will drop on July 30.

The live-action adaptation of Moana is scheduled to be released on June 27, 2025, but will most likely be delayed due to the theatrical release of the animated film Moana 2 on November 27. Johnson is set to reprise his role as Maui for the live-action but Cravalho said she was passing the “baton to the next young woman of Pacific Island descent.”




Pensiamo che ci puntino molto e avrà un budget molto elevato a nostro parere... e crediamo che i bambini che hanno visto il film animato magari vorranno vedere la pellicola con attori in carne ed ossa... chissà. Ci puntano molto sopra e usano una tecnica buona, tener viva l'attenzione sul film... e questo alla fine ripaga, perché non parlarne per niente e mettere due notizie in croce alla fine non serve, bisogna parlarne... e pensiamo che ne parleranno ancora un bel po' di questo live.
