Dal sito That Hashtag Show: EXCLUSIVE: Disney Animation Studios Gearing Up For DRAGON EMPIRE Disney Animation Studios has been firing on all cylinders the last 10 years with their animated films such as Tangled, Frozen, Big Hero 6, Zootopia, and Moana. Fans were looking forward to Gigantic, a twist on Jack and the Beanstalk, which to the surprise of many was shelved last year due to creative differences. Now we have information on what’s in store for the legendary animation studio. Paul Briggs who was head of story on Big Hero 6 and Frozen will make his directorial debut alongside Tangled animator Dean Wellins on Dragon Empire. Not much is known about the story but Disney is currently meeting with actors for various roles. Kiel Murray who wrote Cars and Cars 3 is developing the script, with Osnat Shurer (Moana) on board as a producer. We also have some character breakdowns to share with you. JAN-NIN: Female lead character said to be the heroine of the film. Jamie Chung has shown interest in the role, Disney fans will know her as the voice of Go Go in Big Hero 6 and the brand new series on the Disney Channel . BOLIN: The lead male character who is expected to be comic relief, and a 900 year old mentor to Jan-Nin. KATSU: Supporting male character not much is known regarding Katsu. It is not known yet if Dragon Empire is taking over the release date of Gigantic held of November 25, 2020, or if it will receive a brand new release date beyond that. One thing is certain though Disney is hard at work getting this project developed and fans are ready for a new story from the studio. |

Un po' di commenti da parte dello staff che ha lavorato al film:
Da Facebook: "It’s a dream come true to get to work on a Southeast Asia-inspired film at Disney Animation. Every day I get to share with my team the culture I grew up with. As a leader on this film, I want to recognize each artist’s strength and create an opportunity for them to be successful on the show while being who they are." - Fawn Veerasunthorn, Head of Story on Raya and the Last Dragon Da Facebook: “Working on Raya and the Last Dragon has been an amazing learning experience that has opened up a window for me into the animation pipeline and challenged myself not just as an artist, but as a filmmaker too. It means everything to be trusted as a production designer to work with the studio’s many talented artists. Fantasy has always been one of my favorite genres because it’s all about world-building and creating history within the context of the story. I love being able to contribute to a world that has thousands of years and history under its belt as an exciting design challenge.” - Mingjue Helen Chen, Production Designer on Raya and the Last Dragon Da Facebook: "The artists here at Walt Disney Animation Studios are amazing - they just keep getting better and better. To be part of leading the team on Raya and the Last Dragon is an honor indeed." - Osnat Shurer, Producer on Raya and the Last Dragon Da Facebook: "I would encourage an aspiring artist to take a multi-disciplinary approach to their education. No matter which area of the filmmaking process becomes your specialty, all those experiences in other areas will make you a more informed and collaborative asset to the team. And, most importantly, give you a unique set of skills that sets you apart." - Nikki Mull, Character Look Supervisor, Raya and the Last Dragon Da Facebook: "Building on a sense of community and building support for each artist working on the project is very important to me. The same way I’ve been inspired by leaders before me, I hope to be inspiring to the next generation." - Amy Smeed, Head of Animation on Raya and the Last Dragon Da Facebook: "I love being able to help translate our directors' vision into what we hope will be a new Disney classic.
