News:

Michael Keaton (che con Tim Burton ha già lavorato in Batman e Batman il ritorno) è in trattative per interpretare il cattivo del film

Dal sito Variety:

Michael Keaton in Talks to Play Villain in Tim Burton’s ‘Dumbo’ (EXCLUSIVE)

Michael Keaton is in negotiations to play the villain in the live-action “Dumbo” movie for Disney.

The film would mark a reunion with Tim Burton — their first project together since 1992’s “Batman Returns.”

Colin Farrell is currently in talks to star alongside Eva Green and Danny DeVito.

Ehren Kruger penned the script. Justin Springer, who worked on “Tron: Legacy,” is producing with Kruger.

The original story followed an ostracized baby circus elephant who strives to achieve his full potential. If a deal closes, Keaton would play the man who acquirers the circus from DeVito’s character in order to exploit the lovable elephant and his mother.

The studio’s emphasis on live-action reboots follows the hits “Maleficent,” “Cinderella,” “The Jungle Book,” and most recently, “Beauty and the Beast.” The Mouse House has remakes of “The Lion King,” “The Little Mermaid,” “Mulan,” and other animated classics in the works as well.

Keaton is in the midst of a career renaissance that began with his Oscar-nominated role in 2014’s “Birdman,” but he first achieved movie stardom nearly 30 years ago in Burton’s “Beetlejuice.” Burton then tapped him to play the Caped Crusader in “Batman,” putting both men on Hollywood’s A-list.

The two talents have not worked together since leaving the “Batman” franchise following “Batman Returns,” but have been looking for a film to team up on for quite some time, including a possible “Beetlejuice” sequel.

The role marks another villainous turn for the former superhero, who is set to play Spider-Man’s arch nemesis Vulture in the upcoming “Spider-Man: Homecoming.”

Keaton also recently starred in “The Founder” as McDonald’s mogul Ray Kroc and as journalist “Robby” Robinson in “Spotlight.” “Birdman” and “Spotlight” won back-to-back best picture Oscars.

Production Begins on Tim Burton's Live-Action Dumbo!

Walt Disney Studios has announced that production is underway for the live-action Dumbo, reimagining Disney’s 1941 animated classic. Check out the first set photo in the gallery below, and read more new details about the film!

Directed by visionary filmmaker Tim Burton (Alice in Wonderland, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory), the film stars Golden Globe winner Colin Farrell (In Bruges, The Lobster), Golden Globe winner Michael Keaton (Birdman, Beetlejuice), Emmy and Golden Globe winner Danny DeVito (Batman Returns, Big Fish), BAFTA Award winner and Golden Globe nominee Eva Green (Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, Dark Shadows), and introduces Nico Parker and Finley Hobbins in their first film roles. The cast also includes Roshan Seth, DeObia Oparei, Sharon Rooney and Douglas Reith.

Disney’s new live-action feature film Dumbo introduces Holt Farrier (Farrell), a former circus star who finds his life turned upside down when he returns from the war. Circus owner Max Medici (DeVito) enlists Holt to care for a newborn elephant whose oversized ears make him a laughingstock in an already struggling circus. But when Holt’s children (Parker and Hobbins) discover that Dumbo can fly, persuasive entrepreneur V.A. Vandevere (Keaton) and an aerial artist named Colette Marchant (Green) swoop in to make the peculiar pachyderm a star.

Katterli Frauenfelder (Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, Big Eyes), Derek Frey (Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, Frankenweenie), Ehren Kruger (Ophelia, Dream House) and Justin Springer (TRON: Legacy) are producing from a screenplay by Kruger. Nigel Gostelow (Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, Dark Shadows) is the executive producer.

Dumbo is slated for release on March 29, 2019.

Walt Disney’s classic animated tale Dumbo, which opened Oct. 23, 1941, won an Oscar for best scoring of a musical picture and was nominated for best original song for “Baby Mine.”

The creative team includes cinematographer Ben Davis, BSC (Doctor Strange, Guardians of the Galaxy), Oscar winning production designer Rick Heinrichs (Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Dark Shadows), four-time Oscar-winning costume designer Colleen Atwood (Alice in Wonderland, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them), editor Chris Lebenzon, ACE (Alice in Wonderland, Maleficent) and BAFTA Award-winning make-up designer Paul Gooch (Alice in Wonderland, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children).

Utilizing state-of-the-art visual effects to portray Dumbo and many of his four-legged counterparts, Dumbo will be filmed entirely in England, both at Pinewood Studios and Cardington Studios.

Michael Keaton said Tim Burton's live-action remake of 'Dumbo' is "physically beautiful".

The 66-year-old actor was announced by the filmmaker to be starring as V.A. Vandevere in Disney's upcoming live-action remake, and Keaton - who worked with Burton on 'Batman' - admitted it's different than anything the film producer has done before.

Speaking to the Metro newspaper, he said: "It's basically telling the same story with Tim's touch on it, and not necessarily a touch like we've seen him do before - which, so far, is so physically beautiful, you can't believe it."

Keaton will star alongside an impressive cast including Colin Farrell, Danny DeVito, Eva Green, Nico Parker and Finley Hobbins.

'Dumbo' is one of the classic Disney films, which tells the story of a ostracised baby elephant who strives to prove his worth after he is mocked for having big ears.

For the live-action adaptation, Ehren Kruger has written the script and is also producing alongside 'Tron: Legacy's' Justin Springer.

An official plot synopsis for the film revealed Farrell will play a former circus star, Holt Farrier, whose life is turned upside down when he returns from the war and is enlisted by a circus owner (DeVito) to care for a newborn elephant with oversized ears.

The circus is struggling, but when Holt's children - Parker and Hobbins - discover the elephant can fly, entrepreneur V.A. Vandevere (Keaton) and aerial artist Colette (Green) team up to make the creature a star.

The movie - which will also include animated elements - will all be filmed in England and is currently scheduled for release in the US on 29 March 2019.

This project joins Disney's ever growing franchise of live-action reboots which has seen 'Maleficent', 'Cinderella', 'The Jungle Book' and most recently, the box office smash 'Beauty and the Beast'.

Among the other remakes being lined up are 'The Lion King', 'Mulan' and 'The Little Mermaid'.

Dal sito The Hollywood Reporter:

Alan Arkin Joins Tim Burton’s Live-Action ‘Dumbo’

Eva Green, Michael Keaton and Colin Farrell are all set for the Disney feature

Alan Arkin is the latest star to join Tim Burton’s live-action Dumbo movie at Disney.

The reimagined story will follow a former circus star, played by Collin Farrell, who returns to the big tent after coming home from war. He finds work with a struggling circus and is put in charge of a newborn elephant whose oversized ears make him the laughing stock of the show. Arkin will play Wall Street tycoon J. Griffin Remington.

Eva Green, Michael Keaton, Colin Farrell and Danny DeVito also star in the Dumbo, which is one of Disney’s many planned feature adaptions of their classic animations. Lion King and Aladdin are both in various stages of production.

Dumbo is slated to hit theaters March 29, 2019.

Arkin was last seen opposite Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine in the comedy Going in Style and will star in the Chuck Lorre series The Kominsky Method. He is repped by ICM and Lasher.

* Danny Elfman si occuperà delle musiche del film.

Dal sito Film Music Reporter:

Danny Elfman to Score Tim Burton’s ‘Dumbo’

Danny Elfman confirmed during a press interview promoting his Danny Elfman’s Music From the Films of Tim Burton concert in Mexico City later this month that he will be reuniting with director Tim Burton on the upcoming live-action adaptation of Disney’s Dumbo. The movie starring Colin Farrell, Eva Green, Michael Keaton, Danny DeVito and Alan Arkin is based on the studio’s 1941 animated classic of the same title about the young elephant with extraordinarily large ears who develops the skill to fly. Ehren Kruger (The Ring, Arlington Road, Scream 3) wrote the screenplay and is also producing the project with Katterli Frauenfelder, Derek Frey and Justin Springer (Prom). Elfman has previously scored all of Burton’s most movies except for 1995’s Ed Wood, 2007’s Sweeney Todd and last year’s Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. Dumbo is set to be released on March 29, 2019 by Walt Disney Pictures.

Dal sito HeyUGuys:

Colin Farrell confirms that Tim Burton’s Live-Action remake of Dumbo is not a dark & twisted tale

Tim Burton isn’t known for his light and fluffy filmmaking, so to have him on board of Disney’s remake of the Classic cartoon, Dumbo may have raised a few eyebrows and raising the question could the elephant who could fly be taking a turn to the darker side? Thankfully, according to Colin Farrell, Burton’s vision sounds like it’s on track to stay faithful with the original animation.

HeyUGuys own Stefan Pape caught up with Colin Farrell during the press junket for The Killing of a Sacred Deer and probed the actor on Tim Burton’s live-action remake of Dumbo and the tonal direction the film will take.

“It’s certainly not dark and twisted or anything like that, the story on the page and what I see on set is very sweet, very sweet, and really kind of buoyant, it’s just a really gorgeous tale.

They did a bang-up job of writing a narrative story around what really didn’t really have much of a narrative story, certainly in relation to the human beings in the cartoon, they wrote a whole story there. There’s a great part for Danny DeVito, Eva Green, Michael Keaton, myself and the two young actors that play the kids. It’s really sweet to go to work on it every day; it couldn’t be any more different to this [The Killing of a Sacred Deer], and I love this, but this is a different kind of level”.

Production has already begun on the film which has a cast of Michael Keaton, Eva Green (Casino Royale), Danny DeVito (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) and Colin Farrell (The Beguiled).

No release date for Dumbo has been set, but we’re expecting it at the end of 2018 / early 2019.

Il film non riguarda la storia che Dumbo deve imparare a volare... inizia infatti quando Dumbo ha appena imparato a volare.

Dal sito The Wrap:

Tim Burton’s Live-Action ‘Dumbo’ Might Not Be a Remake After All

CinemaCon 2018: “The [original] movie ends with Dumbo flying. This movie begins with the elephant flying, and takes the story even further,” Danny DeVito teases

Tim Burton is giving “Dumbo” the “Big Fish” treatment, as Disney unveiled never-before-seen footage of the upcoming live-action remake of the 1966 classic animated film.

And it looks like Burton’s take has some marked differences from the original.

“The [original] movie ends with Dumbo flying,” co-star Danny DeVito in a sizzle reel presented at CinemaCon in Las Vegas on Tuesday. “This movie begins with the elephant flying, and takes the story even further.”

With the film still in production, the studio’s featurette didn’t include images of the title elephant himself, but it did include concept art of the character that revealed the blend of cartoon and realistic aesthetics in keeping with Burton’s signature surrealist approach to the material.

“Dumbo” will feature a cast led by DeVito, who plays the circus’ loudmouth manager Max Medici. The new footage shows Medici chewing out the circus’ strongman, who is also in charge of accounting.

Other denizens of the circus were shown, including the beautiful trapeze artist Collette Marchant (Eva Green) and WWII vet Holt Farrier (Colin Farrell), a former circus star in charge of taking care of Dumbo.

“Dumbo” returns to theaters March 29, 2019.

Dal sito Hollywood Reporter:

Disney revealed the elephant in the room — sort of — showing the first footage from Tim Burton's upcoming remake of the 1941 Disney animated classic Dumbo during its slate presentation Tuesday at CinemaCon.

But the company only showed concept art of the title character — with his big ears, blue eyes and sweet, emotive expression — who will be CG in the final film.

The clips did, however, offer a first look at its live-action stars including Eva Green, Michael Keaton, Danny DeVito and Colin Farrell under the big top in a dark but stylized Burton-esque circus.

The crafts look top-notch, including those from Burton's longtime collaborators including Oscar-winning production designer Rick Heinrichs and four-time Oscar-winning costume designer Colleen Atwood. Burton also reteamed with his longtime editor, two-time Oscar nominee Chris Lebenzon, and the movie was shot by cinematographer Ben Davis, who recently was BAFTA-nominated for Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.

Slated for a March 29 release, Dumbo is currently in postproduction in London. It was filmed in the U.K., at Pinewood and Cardington Studios.

Da Twitter:

Live-action DUMBO logo and FIRST LOOK.

The film will be set after the original animated film during the Great Depression.
