Nearly 9 million viewers watch the Disney Channel premiere, more than 'High School Musical,' but fewer than 'HSM2'
It may not have been another "High School Musical 2," but the Disney Channel's "Camp Rock" still found a huge audience on Friday (June 20) night.

According to Fast National ratings, the musical telefilm averaged 8.9 million viewers, making it cable's most watched entertainment telecast of 2007/08 and cable's most watched overall program among viewers 9-14.

"Camp Rock," which featured the already-successful Jonas Brothers and is expected to kickstart Demi Lovato's fame, actually topped the 7.8 million viewers who watched the original "High School Musical" when it set Disney Channel records in January 2006. It didn't come close, though, to equaling the 17.2 million viewers who watched "HSM2" when it premiered last August.

In addition to ruling the cable landscape, "Camp Rock" beat Friday's network numbers handily, trouncing the 5.8 million viewers averaged by CBS' programming.

The cross-platform rollout for "Camp Rock" continued on Saturday night with a Wonderful World of Disney premiere on ABC, while ABC Family will get to air the movie on Sunday night.

The Jonas Brothers and Demi Lovato are headed back to "Camp Rock," but the sequel to last year's top-rated cable telecast will feature a new director and writer, not to mention a plot that borrows from Shakespeare.

"Camp Rock 2 The Final Jam" will begin production this summer and debut next year on Disney Channel.

The characters played by Lovato and Kevin, Nick and Joe Jonas will return to their beloved Camp Rock, only to discover that some of the students and instructors have ditched it for nearby rival Camp Star.

Other major players returning for the sequel include Meaghan Jette Martin, Maria Canals-Barrera and Alyson Stoner. Daniel Fathers is back as Camp Rock's head honcho.

Joining the cast for "Final Jam" are hip-hop artist Matthew "Mdot" Finley and Chloe Bridges, a 17-year-old classical pianist. Mdot plays the reigning hot-shot singer across the lake at Camp Star who challenges Camp Rock to a musical showdown.

The "Romeo and Juliet" moment comes when Camp Rock's Nate (Nick Jonas) falls for Dana (Bridges), the daughter of Camp Star's owner.

Taking over helming duties from the first installment's Matthew Diamond is Paul Hoen, who directed the 2007 Disney Channel movie "Jump In!" The sequel's script was written by Dan Berendsen ("Hannah Montana The Movie") with Karin Gist and Regina Hicks, the duo who wrote "Jump In!" with Doreen Spicer. Gist and Hicks also wrote the first "Camp Rock" with Julie Brown and Paul Brown.

The original "Camp Rock" attracted an audience of 146 million in 160 nations and 30 languages, a huge hit by nearly any standard -- except, maybe, compared with Disney Channel's "High School Musical," seen by 225 million worldwide.

The "Camp Rock" soundtrack has gone platinum in the U.S. and eight other territories and gold in another dozen.

Well, if this is really the case, then someone needs to make the executives in charge of the Disney Channel aware of those other six ideas. Because the suits at that cable channel seem to have grown overly fond of recycling that star-crossed-lovers / “Romeo & Juliet” routine.

Camp Rock 2 ha debuttato il 3 settembre in Usa ed è stato visto da 8 milioni di spettatori, affermandosi come film via cavo più visto dell'anno. Tuttavia c'è stato un calo rispetto agli 8,9 milioni del primo film.
Prima tv italiana il 24 settembre su Disney Channel.

E poi su Italia 1.Non ne sentivo la mancanza

Non so se avete sentito la nuova canzone dei Finley "Per la vita che verrà" adattamento italiano di "I Wouldn't Change a Thing" di Camp Rock 2...davvero bella!

Per favore devo digerire mi basta aver sentito la canzone orribbile dello spot che Italia 1 trasmette fino alla nausea e poi la vocina "Il 24 Settembre vivi con noi le grandi emozioni Disney"

Non so voi, ma io non faccio altro che ascoltare la colonna sonora del film...davvero grandiosa, sopratutto 4-5 brani sono davvero fantastici!!

Io non ascolto mai niente prima di vedere un film, perciò ti dirò poi dopo. Venerdì sera probabilmente non potrò vederlo, si sa già quand'è la prima replica?

Io invece ascolta prima del film tutta la colonna sonora, cosi sono più preparato e sopratuto capisco quello che dicono, altrimenti se leggi i sottotitoli ti perdi il film!

Se Camp Rock era bello questo seguito è il massimo!!
Direi che il film è molto più bello del primo....Assolutamente!!!
Coreografie magnifiche, musiche eccelenti, cast davvero migliorato nella parte tecnica...e quest'anno ci sono anche i cuccioli!
L'unica pecca del film, cosi come in HSM è che a volte le canzoni sono un pò troppo vicine tra di loro, lasciando solo 2-3 minuti di recitazione nel mezzo...però nell'insieme il film è venuto molto bene....la fine vabbè è scontata......(sin da "It's on" per me)

Ripeto la mia oppinione questa non è DISNEY ma MEDIASET!!!!!!!!!Ormai Disney Channel è una Italia 1 Bis!!!!

Disney Channel trasmette serie puramente USA, quindi non credo che il paragone sia lecito...anche se poi questo paragone con la Mediaset non l'ho mica capito!

A parte che nemmeno io ho capito il paragone, dovresti spiegare perchè la pensi così e cosa dovrebbe fare secondo te disney channel.

Diciamo che ho fatto una BATTUTA io tutti queste serie Jonas,Hanna Montana con figoni con pupe in minigonna, vestite da velina attorno veramente le odio!!!!Insomma sono prodotti più da Italia 1 che non Disney, non ha la magia Disney, Disney Channel.Questo intendo!!!

L'unica serie che promuovo è Zack & Cody al Grand Hotel e basta, ma le altre caliamo un velo pietoso.Purtroppo fanno audience inutile nasconderlo

Ah ok, non l'avevo capito! Io non seguo Disney Channel da molti anni, ma trovo giusto che faccia serie che piacciono agli adolescenti (veramente Hannah Montana e i Maghi di Waverly li seguo anch'io). Quello che gli rimprovero è di non trasmettere più le serie animate e i lungometraggi.
La serie veramente penosa è Patty, ma è quella più vista. Tocca sopportarla.

Guarda ti dico una cosa sarebbe meglio che Disney Channel trasmetta Ugle Betty quella si è una bella serie, molto istruttiva dove mostra alle ragazze che la bellezza non è tutto.Ricordiamo che è un prodotto Disney/Touchstone.Ecco la Touchstone che non sta vivendo un bel momento sul grande schermo (speriamo in Gnomeo & Juliet) sta vivendo un gran momento in televisione con le sue serie tra le quali Tutto in Famiglia (veramente divertente), La vita secondo Jim,Lost,Grey's Anatomy ecc!!Ancora non capisco perchè la Disney si ostina a non creare un canale con le serie adulte, come fa la FOX ecc!!!Mistero.
Io comunque aspetterò la serie animata di Tron quella la guarderò al 100%, naturalmente quando sarà in chiaro, probabilmente su Italia 1 o meglio ancora su Rai 4 che trasmette gli anime!!!
